That is an incorrect statement. Our Founding Fathers were not Christian. George Washington never took communion. “[T]he Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion...” --Treaty of Tripoli; Ratified by the Senate and signed into law by John Adams on 10 June, 1797. “In every country and in every age the priest [any and every clergyman] has been hostile to liberty; he is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.” --Thomas Jefferson “Strongly guarded as is the separation between Religion & Govt in the Constitution of the United States the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies, may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history.” --James Madison There is a large amount of evidence of this fact online. America was founded on the principle of "seperation between Religion and the government." Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

'Festivus' Shares Space With Fla. Nativity
jcd11235 replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't have an issue. You asked where seperation of church and state was laid out, and I showed you. Evidently you are the one with the issue, as you are obviously picking a fight, for whatever reason. You should really lighten up. So I'll ask again. Where is separation of church and state written in the constitution or SCUS decisions? And now they have made it a public forum, so that ALL religions or atheists or anything else can use the land. If only the Christians were allowed to have a display on the public property, that would be wrong. If everyone has the oppurtunity, there should be no problem. Why do you continue to cry foul? Oh, and seperation of Church and state is still in the first (and fourteenth, indirectly) amemndments, just like last time you asked. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! If you don't see the Christian connotations of a nativity scene, then you either don't understand the concept of Christianity, or you don't understand the concept of a nativity scene. I think you don't understand the issue. The public land has been declared a public forum. Christians can have their nativity scene if they want to, but anyone else can also put up displays. Nobody is trying to infringe upon the rights of Christians, as much as you would like to paint them the victim. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Would you be so kind as to show us all the post where I say nice things about Moore? For the record, here's my take on Michael Moore: Personally, I liked The Big One. I didn't see Roger and Me, I saw Bowling for Columbine, and enjoyed it. I didn't see Farenheit 9/11, but the same friend who originally told me about Moore, says that he went overboard on some of his claims in his latest film, so I will likely not waste my time watching it. So, I would not consider Michael Moore to be a hero of mine. Einstein, yes. Leibniz, yes. Gandhi, yes. Marley, yes. Jung, yes. Moore, no. Which would put him in the same category as you, come to think of it. How does it feel to be like Mike? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

My friend gave me a couple CDs full of MP3 files, all of this guy David Rovicks music. He is a Woody Guthrie/ Bob Dylan for this era. His songs are poignant, and often highlight the irony of it all. He also encourages free downloads of his music from his website, which is refreshing in this age of Mettalica and Napster (I like Mettalica, in general, but I thought it was hypocritical of them to sue over filesharing, when so much of their early material is blatant classical music rip-offs.) Anyway, some Rovics' titles include: "Who Would Jesus Bomb?" "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" "Trafalgar Square" "Good Kurds, Bad Kurds" "Bomb Ourselves" "Reichstag Fire" Here's the lyrics to one: Operation Iraqi Liberation David Rovics We’ve got a situation and it calls for a solution That upholds our domination of the planet We’re gonna make our case and we’re gonna make it well But if you don’t like our logic you can can it We’ll use impeccable intelligence from any country in the world As long as we all see eye to eye And if we don’t find quite what we need we know what to do Just look into the camera and lie (Chorus) ‘Cause it’s Operation Iraqi Liberation Tell me, what does that spell Operation Iraqi Liberation O – I – L And we’ll lie about the missiles and the nuclear research We’ll lie about uranium We’ll build military bases and smile for reporters As we give away bubble gum And we’ll lie about bin Laden and his connections with the Saudis And we’ll lie about 9-1-1 And we’ll lie about the Baathists and their connections to Al Qaeda Because we know there’s none (Chorus) And we’ll lie about the North Koreans and we’ll lie about Iran And don’t mention Israel Keep those nuclear weapons out of this song And it will all hold together swell And now we’ll liberate these people, we’ll liberate their money We’ll liberate their soil We’ll liberate their airports, we’ll liberate their harbors And we’ll liberate their oil Created July, 2003 Copyright David Rovics 2003, all rights reserved http://www.davidrovics.com/ Check it out. Unless, of course, you're one of the people he sings about! And yes, the W.H. first called it Operation Iraqi Liberation (very briefly) before realizing their Fruedian slip. Now, THAT'S funny. How is that? By invading Iraq instead of listening to the majority of U.S. citizens, who were against the invasion? Or by invading Iraq against the wishes of the majority of the World's population? Or invading Iraq against the wishes of the U.N.? Or- I could go on, but if you don't understand yet, you likely never will, so any attempt to explain it will be futile, like trying to explain to a whuffo why one would jump from an in flight aircraft for fun. Sure is. If we were really concerned about the human rights, we would have supported the Siite uprising in Iraq that immediately followed Desert Storm. The Iraqis were ready to raise arms agains SH, but Bush failed to keep his promise of support. Why, 12 years later, why not then? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

No, I want a just international organization that operates for the benefit of Earth and Mankind, and not for the benefit of America's, or any other single country's, national interest. If we can't promote a responsible foreign policy that does not unfairly exploit poor nations, then, yes, there needs to be an international authority to keep us in check. If we were really for the promotion of Democracy (used here in the most positive sense of the word) and human rights around the globe, then it should be a non-issue. Math tutoring available. I've just been bitten once to often. And, no, I don't intend to hit a beater, or anyone else, but experience tells me that, in the event of an accident, It is a much smaller headache to hit a car that my insurance will pay forcompletely, as opposed to only making a down payment. I don't see that as scary at all, but rather inevitable if we are to ever have a peaceful world community. What I think is scary is the extent to which some people/ nations resist the prospect of a peaceful world. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

By your logic, Ron, we should be attacking Israel to stop their occupation of Jerusalem. After all, Israel has violated more UN resolutions than Iraq. Why the double standard Ron? Why are you in favor of war in Iraq, but not war in Israel? (I am not promoting war in Israel, only pointing out hypocrisy) Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I change lanes, whenever possible, when I find myself following a Mercedes, Jaguar, etc., mostly because we have screwed up traffic laws that give the right of way to the slow car in every lane, and my insurance would max out before potential damages are paid, if there were an accident.
