  1. Here. Ifound this sight. It contains all the necessary math to calculate the radiation from a small breathable particle of aerosoled DU. http://www.xs4all.nl/~stgvisie/VISIE/Dietz-L/Dietz-du-3.html Also see, for further info: http://www.xs4all.nl/~stgvisie/VISIE/ud_main.html I'm sure there is a link to answer any questions you might have. 2. I posted the info to highlight the amount of DU used in IRAQ and Afghanistan, and the known evidence of adverse consequences. I wasn't trying to compare to Nagasaki bombing. I personally do not have the understanding to make a comparison of an atomic explosion and aerosoled DU pollution. I do, however, find it very interesting that to of the military's former top experts on DU and Nuclear medicine both have launched similar campaigns against the use of DU. Along with large amounts of circumstantial evidence, it is hard to dismiss the idea that DU is much, much worse than the American public and our troops have been led to believe. Remember, we are not talking about isolated cases. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  3. I am not sure what the basis of the math is, but the order of magnatude suggests that he might be making a mass comparison. I am not, however, familiar enough with the specifications of the Nagasaki bomb, so cannot be sure. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  4. "In 2003 scientists from the Uranium Medical Research Center (UMRC) studied urine samples of Afghan civilians and found that 100% of the samples taken had levels of non-depleted uranium (NDU) 400% to 2000% higher than normal levels. The UMRC research team studied six sites, two in Kabul and others in the Jalalabad area. The civilians were tested four months after the attacks in Afghanistan by the United States and its allies. NDU is more radioactive than depleted uranium (DU), which itself is charged with causing many cancers and severe birth defects in the Iraqi population–especially children–over the past ten years. Four million pounds of radioactive uranium was dropped on Iraq in 2003 alone. Uranium dust will be in the bodies of our returning armed forces. Nine soldiers from the 442nd Military Police serving in Iraq were tested for DU contamination in December 2003. Conducted at the request of The News, as the U.S. government considers the cost of $1,000 per affected soldier prohibitive, the test found that four of the nine men were contaminated with high levels of DU, likely caused by inhaling dust from depleted uranium shells fired by U.S. troops. Several of the men had traces of another uranium isotope, U-236, that are produced only in a nuclear reaction process. ... At the Uranium Weapons Conference held October 2003 in Hamburg, Germany, independent scientists from around the world testified to a huge increase in birth deformities and cancers wherever NDU and DU had been used. Professor Katsuma Yagasaki, a scientist at the Ryukyus University, Okinawa calculated that the 800 tons of DU used in Afghanistan is the radioactive equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The amount of DU used in Iraq is equivalent to 250,000 Nagasaki bombs. At the Uranium Weapons Conference, a demonstration by British-trained oncologist Dr. Jawad Al-Ali showed photographs of the kinds of birth deformities and tumors he had observed at the Saddam Teaching Hospital in Basra just before the 2003 war. Cancer rates had increased dramatically over the previous fifteen years. In 1989 there were 11 abnormalities per 100,000 births; in 2001 there were 116 per 100,000—an increase of over a thousand percent. In 1989 34 people died of cancer; in 2001 there were 603 cancer deaths. The 2003 war has increased these figures exponentially. ... The smoking guns are Sgt. Hector Vega, Sgt. Ray Ramos, Sgt. Agustin Matos and Cpl. Anthony Yonnone from New York's 442nd Guard Unit—they are the first confirmed cases of inhaled uranium oxide exposure from the current Iraq conflict. Dr. Asaf Durokovic, professor of Nuclear Medicine at the Uranium Medical Research Centre http://www.umrc.net/ conducted the diagnostic tests. The story was released April 3, 2004 in the New York Daily News. There is no treatment and there is no cure." http://www.projectcensored.org/publications/2005/4.html Math tutoring available. 5. I wasn't aware of that. Glad to hear it. I agree with you about education, but I have to add that it requires well informed voters for a democracy to be effective. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. Or, remove Brittain or Rusia from the equation. Better yet, remove them both from the equation, and pretend we had to do it singlehandedly. Do you really think we would have dominated a German army that had not already been fatigued, all by ourselves? We sat back, too. We saw it going on and did nothing. BTW wasn't this about the same time that Prescott Bush had some sizeable investments siezed by the US government under the trading with the enemy Act? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 7. Hmmm. Okay. Working to stop epidemics is worthy. Thanks. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  8. I am against privatization; it defeats the purpose of the fund. That is not to say the management couldn't be a bit more agressive. The program has failed because so much money has borrowed from SS, at least that's part of it. The only three post WWII presidents to contribute to the national debt in ways other than interest have been Reagan, Bush and Bush. We have to pay for that spending at some point. Tax cuts and allowing deficit spending is not what I would consider responsible economic leadership. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  9. I am not going to discount the value of the sacrifice because of possible poor judgement of the military commanders. It's completely unfair for Americans to take credit for saving the world from the Naziswithout acknowledging that we only made up one member of a much larger team. Math tutoring available. 11. No one is claiming they are carbon copies of one another. Again, read the first link on the first post of the "Have we become what we fear?" thread. I don't know how to break this to you, but Shrub has not liberated anyone. He has just changed from one U.S. installed government in Iraq to another. Thousands have been killed, and many more will die of cancer, with radiation exposures lasting much longer than this war, which is a violation of Geneva Convention on Human Rights. Wonder why Shrub won't join the World Court? And, don't forget, Stalinwas our ally. He contributed far more than the U.S. when it came to stopping Hitler. So don't tell me that Something good Shrub has done balances out his FUBAR leadership. You see apples and oranges. I see apples and apple blossoms. Personally, it worries me that so many people don't see it. Again, we should take this discussion to the relevant thread. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  12. Because when it comes to firearms, worst case is loss of innocent life. In a bar, where one might large crowds, particularly at heavy metal concert in a small venue, it is easy to see how a situation could escalate to the point of death, when a black eye and broken nose would have been the alternative. Probably 95-99 percent of the licenseed carriers would not allow such a situation to escalate to that point. To believe that none of them would, though, is a little hard to believe. How do you distinguish one group from the other? This does indeed sound rather odd. The above worst case seems absurdly far-fetched in such places the vast majority of the time. 14. I'll say it. I established a thread to discuss that very thing. Feel free to join in. "have we become what we fear?" Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  15. Feel free to defend Shrub, and not just attack those that don't agree with his policies. There are a few active threads to do that right now in the SC. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  17. I agree completely. We must think for ourselves and stay informed. But that also means asking and answering hard questions. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  18. I gave my country eight years, too. Part of that was active duty (combat arms), part of it was reserves (logistics), and the rest IRR. I make a considerable effort to remain informed, and I encourage others to do the same, in whatever way I might be able to. Uninformed voters are not an asset to the Republic. I do not believe that discussing politics on a skydiving board is moronic. Should we assume that skydivers do not stay informed of current events just because they choose to get out of the plane? I have met some very well educated and informed people in this sport, both American and foreign. Why not debate with people you might actually have some kind of common bond with. As far as a being called back in? I was actually waiting on paperwork to transfer me back onto active duty when I femured a few years back. Now the hardware would likely keep me out. That aside, no, I would not go fight this war. I think it has been inadequately and untruthfully justified. IMO overthrowing one government we helped bring to power, in favor of bringing a different government to power is a senseless waste of life. Don't forget that Iran voted their theocracy in. Why aren't we all buddy buddy with Iran? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  19. LMAO. You French folks sure can tell a good joke and build cool statues. By the way, thanks for your help when we needed it overthrowing tyranny back during the revolution. We couldn't have done it without you. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  20. Its me misleading now? I try to avoid hate and fear. That is why I do not support Shrub. His policies promote those ideals, which I feel is wrong. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  21. So civilian deaths do not apply towards human sacrifice? Then we were pretty late getting invoved, because there were millions that could have been saved. So I guess we still didn't save the world, did we? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  22. Just the same as anyone who would blindly follow Shrub. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  23. As I said, figure that as a percentage of the country's wealth, and it becomes obvious we are not as generous as you would like to believe. Did you accidentally forget to count civilian casualties? If you examine them, you get the idea how small our human sacrifice was in WWII. Also, you seem to be forgetting about the civilian casualties in the conflicts in the Gulf. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  25. 1. That is what an open debate is about, arguing. 2. That is what this forum is for. I readily admit that the original post was one sided. It was, however accompanied with an invitation to hear arguments presented by the other side. How is that not promoting an objective discussion? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour!
