  1. I'd have to say one of the all-time best demonstrations was after the credits in Dodgeball. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  2. There I was referrring to social commentary that would be off-topic and off-forum. The abdication of personal responsibility would be a thread best left for the speaker's corner. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  3. In my opinion, to some extent. If you're angle of attack is extreme postive, you stall and fall. If it's only slightly positive or 0 (horizontal), you fly and climb. Using the standard RW-type angle of attack, with no effort to get horizontal, you just catch wind/stall out. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  4. Worth repeating. That applies not only to jumpers but to general populaces at large, the U.S. for a good example. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  5. Yes, that stood out quickly, but how is it that you didn't notice the flashy new hairdo?? "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  6. Personally I would be embarrassed to be found argueing over something as silly as whether quality instruction can be found outside a standardized instructor program. I'm continually surprised to see how long this thread has survived, apparently people have way too much time on their hands during the off-season. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  7. of course not. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  8. Here is what worked well for me: poised exit on the step, side by side with passenger taking grips on the flyer's rig. Open the arm wings before the leg wing on the launch, to minimize the headdown time. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  9. I was making some jumps at Perris last week. When the winds picked up they advised everyone, using the loudspeaker of course, to use the 45 degree rule. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  10. Bonehead Boomerang. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  11. Ha! you're hilarious. Yes, sometimes my rig goes through withdrawal symptoms when my suit is away for more than a couple days. Luckily it doesn't happen often. Cruel and unusual punishment??? Should be reported to WETR? (Wingsuiters for the Ethical Treatment of Rigs) "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  12. Yes, you can still fit the same number of jumpers. Last weekend I did a 4-way WS jump out of a Cessna 206. 4 WS jumpers and 1 non-WS. The 206 carries 1 more than a 182. You'll get used to it, I'm sure your WS instructor will address any and all questions when you take the FFC. 13. Here in Washington the 182 is most the common as well. No problems, just not as roomy on the ride up. If you launch off the strut it's easier to approach with your back to it until you get a hold of it so you don't get blown back/off. 14. Yea, you could make some really neat and very custom looks. I'm sure if the price is right the factory wouldn't mind disassembling a suit and adding different colored pieces. I don't see a big market for it though. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  15. What about having a brave evaluator with video make a jump with a few of the sub-500 candidates (who split his ticket of course) as a test/qualifying jump? Or merely demonstrating the skills on 1 jump isn't sufficient? "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  16. Yea, from his rep alone (since I haven't met him), I would say Florida is lucky to have him there. If he ever visits the westcoast I'm sure he'll be instantly popular here too. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  17. Superb flights and video work, that's definately going in my rainy day library.
  18. Ya, I second; that was a nice PAC-MAN! "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  19. Here's one...from a flight on Saturday. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  20. Yes, I'm double-0 1 , that guy. No sweet connections, just had the foresight to know what I wanted without looking at it or test flying. I look forward to when I can travel the country to skydive, but for now I don't get to travel that much. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  21. Ha! Me and my phantom are like THIS, son! Very well, the only thing that will treat me better will be down the road-- the next-gen vamp of course. What's not as well is the freezing Northwestern weather. Will be doing some flocks Saturday with ski mask under my full-face and all the layers. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  22. Yea, I ordered mine way before it even had a name, all I knew was there was going to be a suit built for intermediate users. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  23. Phoenix-Fly has a new helmet, the Stinger. Looks cool. http://phoenix-fly.com/products/helmet_stinger.html Posted this in case anyone is in the market for head gear. All PF products I've seen up close have been high quality, so I'm sure this is worth checking out. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  24. Well, Bob has been wanting to get his his jump certificate for a while now. Of course, you dont even need a scale 5 sq ft ram-air, you could use a tandem drogue if he prefers rounds. Or to stay with the bear, attach an RC car steering servo with spindle to his back to remotely drive the steering. If you use 2 servos you could get a flare. 25. Like these guys have said before throw away less on unnecessary stuff. I'm a full-time student, and don't work. People always ask me how I even skydive. It's because school and skydiving are ALL I really do. I rarely spend money on other stuff. Course, now temps up here are low 40s on the ground, so pretty harsh at the top (tends to weed out the non-hardcore jumpers very well). Hence my visit to Cali coming up. It comes down to good prioritizing. Hope it helps. edit: and show some gratitude that youre in Perris instead of Washington or Canada!
