Yes, somebody went to jail, so we're all happy again. edit: Are we supposed to be happy over all the time and money that was wasted especially everybody that went out frantically searching sites that when we hear "oh, just kidding" we just say "good one, that was really funny" ??? Calling all Florida flockers: Jan 20-22, Uwe's Country Jam @ Sebastian

That's awesome, make sure that if there is any rodeo flocking action to get outside video! "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957 -

I was going to say see you this weekend, but the forecast just changed to the usual crap. Looks like hop n pops all weekend. Or it could just be wrong, that happens sometimes. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

Pretty knarly! Show's how bad it can get. I'm sure that reserve deployment really got your blood flowing. Yea that style of launch was definately the biggest contributing cause I would say, since it looks like he pushed you out and into a flip. I'm happy you came out of it okay, and it was a good learning experience. edit: At least you didnt lose your handles! "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Well, nobody in their right mind would vacation in Seattle this time of year, but if we get birds migrating north during summer, we'd be happy to host. The guest(s) should RSVP with flyinfishman or Martini ahead of time so they can sound the bugle call(organize) to draw everybody out of their supersecret hiding spots, in which case we would have 6 or 7 suits of all ranges. On average I see 3 on good weather weekends. No demos unless a FFC is scheduled, however instruction is available(1). "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. IMO: My guess at the reason would probably be that dead bodies tend to get lonely, hence the collective nature of morgues and cemeteries. That way fresh bodies that go to a morgue don't get lonely cause they have a bunch of other bodies to be sociable with. So when nobody is around to keep the expired body company while it waits for the county coroner, it naturally gets lonely, and that's inhumane. The big difference when a body expires and is waiting 30 minutes or X minutes or however long the coroner takes to get there, is to keep it company, thereby guarding against its loneliness. I could not care less if the authorities call it a suicide, actually even better because suicides do not make any news. About two weeks ago a guy jumped off our local S with no gear. We thought he burned the site. Nothing in the news and newspapers. Please take my gear with you and do make it look like a suicide! I agree, clearly this solution makes the best of the circumstances for all involved parties. Edited to add: perhaps even carry a suicide note with the first aid kit in case the first aid kit isn't useful. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. That's a pretty high wage for tailoring work! Hopefully it's got somewhat comparable durability, but you can only expect so much out of those materials. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

Almost? Small technicality. But just like when 2 canopies are flying at each other both jumpers, not just one should avoid the collision, if I was aware of a WS on a collision course then I would try to avoid getting hit. But as I mentioned before, lower one has the right of way anyway. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

If the Prodigy route isn't for you, perhaps consider Matter's track suit. http://www.matterclothing.com/eng/products_tracer_tracksuit.htm "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

That's about my response. 50'. As long as they don't get in my way (since I'm lower I have the right of way) or hit me I'm okay with it. But since it's not preplanned almost all responsibility lies on them to make sure they miss me. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Wingsuit proximity to other canopies
tr027 replied to okalb's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My recent experience with this was as follows: At Perris over the holidays I flew many loads as the lone wingsuit with an Otter load of strangers (many foreigners even). I was usually in the same area as them cause I didnt get a wingsuit spot. I flew relatively near and observed them under canopy while I was still in freefall, didn't get closer than 150' (basically what I estimated their nearly immediate manuevering range) because I didn't arrange prior. Nobody was bent all day, not even the tandems. Of course, 'your mileage may vary'. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Failure to deploy a landable canopy. Sparky Excellent point. An aad is a backup device, which shouldn't be relied upon. I have an Astra and love it, but don't think I will be testing it on skydives anytime soon. The manufacturer tested (fired it in a barometric chamber) it last year when it was in for an update, and that is good enough for me. Wingsuit proximity to other canopies

If it's close enough that if I were to turn my canopy there would have been problems, then no. Merely having a wingsuit within visual range is not bad. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957 -

I couldn't agree more, very well said post. Funny too. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

From what I remember reading of that jump my impression was he was more of a passenger on that jump. Every deployment was automatic, and he had a drogue to keep him from going supersonic. More of a space jump and probably not very comfortable. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

I've wondered that as well. Seems that pinching the fabric with the springs causes damage, and that over many repacks this would add up and compromise the drag of the chute. But I guess it all works out okay, since I'm sure it's been considered. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
