  1. Three words... TEN FOOT POLE! Hmmm??? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  2. Yep! It looks nice, but, I'm afraid I'm going to have to drive it before I can make any real accurate evaluations?? Does next Tuesday work for you... about Noonish?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  3. One way to check for power leak... Pull the radio fuse. Turn off all electrical components. Remove the negative battery cable and (do this in the dark) watch for an electrical spark as you touch the cable to the battery. If you see a small spark as you touch the cable to the battery, this means there is a current draw. To go a step further, you can pull one fuse at a time and repeat this test until the spark goes away. When the spark goes away, you've identified the circut that has the short or current draw. Depending on your car, this test may or may not work... sorry but it's a starting point. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  4. As mentioned above, weak battery could be the cause. Take the battery out and take it to your local Auto parts place. Have them do a load test to check the battery. They can tell you the condition of the battery. Replace if needed. However, a weak starter could also be the problem. The ticking sound your hearing is probly the starter solonoid. This device is a magnetic switch which uses low voltage current (from the Key switch) to switch high voltage current (from the battery to the starter). The ticking sound is the solonoid trying to switch on (unsucesfully) the starter. Most cars today have the solonoid built right onto the starter. If this is the problem, just replace the starter. One other possibility depending on the model, look to see if there is a starter relay under the hood (ussually found along with the underhood fuses). It could also be the source of the ticking sound. But, my bet is the starter solonoid! Pm me if you have any questions... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  6. First off... I'll jump with you! Just tell me where and when. My favorite skydives are with up and coming jumpers. That being said, try talking to the DZO again. Ask him if he can explain why? I've seen people shunned because up-jumpers feel they shouldn’t be in the sport for whatever reason. Maybe they feel you’re not safe, or not physically adept. These people feel if they ignore you, you will just go away. They might not want to hurt your feelings. Who knows?? If this is the case, go to a bigger DZ and get some good coaching. You see, it's usually the teacher and not the student. Or, it might just be a clicky DZ that doesn’t understand the value of up and coming sky goddesses. Again, there are places that do want to help you. Check the DZ finder for a drop zone near you. Or, travel to one to get some help. Whatever you do, don’t give up! Most people go thru this at some point. Just think what’ll happen when you return to that little Cessna DZ with shit hot skills! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  7. So... I'm wondering, if you do both, is the risk additive or exponential??? EEK! And, what happens if you also ski, rock climb, jump off cliffs, and are stupid to boot??? Man, am I in trouble... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  8. If she just told you about the key on the bottom, how do you think she was going to get your $49?? DAAAH Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  9. High 5's! Way to go... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  10. For some really good composition tips, I always show my Photography students the "Taking good Pix" link on the Kodak.com website. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=39&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=3344 Not all are relavent to skydiving, but, good composition starts with the basics. Also, you can look up terminology. Kodak changes up their site often, so, this link will only work for a while... Hope it is helpful Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  11. I do have one... Mrs. Skyjumpenfool. And, as stated above, the costs are astronomical! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  12. Sounds like the serial number on the main did not match the ones listed by the dealer??? So, the dealer suggested that they (Eric or somebody?) changed the serial panel. This story just keeps getting better. I asked Eric for his address so I could send him a check, he told me that wouldn’t be necessary. See, this guy is more concerned about doing the right thing than he is about himself. What he’s most upset about, is the way this dealer treated him. In an attempt to find a good way to help Eric replace his gear, I talked to the USPA NC Regional Director, John Goswitz. John has agreed to accept any donations on Eric’s behalf which will be used to help him replace his AAD and Reserve. Please make checks payable to Eric Blair and send them to: Eric Blair c.o. John Goswitz 27 Maple Lane Little Canada, MN 55117 USPA North Central Regional Director (651) 214-7345 (413) 751-2367 (fax) jhgoswitz@yahoo.com My check is already addressed and on its way. 13. 18 posts already in this thread alone??? .... and counting??? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  14. As noted very early in this thread, Eric is a stand up guy who will do(and now has done) the right thing. Eric, please post an address so I can send you a check to help you buy some new gear? You make us proud brother! You're an inspiration and I hope my son (who started jumping this summer) is reading this thread. Your honesty and integrety is just one reason I love jumpen camera for you guys. As for Ralph, I bought some gear from you many, many years ago. Many people speak highly of you and your business practices. Please remember, Actions speak louder than words! When you are dealing with Goz to get your gear back, remember that Eric is also a victom in this. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  15. I think it’s clear we have two (probably more) victims here. I think we’re all pretty much in agreement that both of these victims are honest, stand up guys. I think it’s further agreed that both victims are a little bit at fault for this situation. However, I’d lay about 99% of the fault here onto the original scum bag, loser, ass wipe, puke bucket, piece of shit, thieving low life, who stole the gear from Ralph in the first place. That all being said, I’d like to propose a solution to this situation… Ralph… As stated earlier, I’ve been saving for a new rig. I’ll put that on hold for now. What I’d like to know is; how much will you sell me Erics AAD for?? I’m betting the local skydivers will help me pay for it through some sort of fundraiser like a poker tournament or maybe a beer bash. When we get that paid for, we start on the rest of the gear. I’d even bet Eric would be willing to make small monthly payments to Ralph for part of the gear. I know the DZ.com community would donate to the cause. Ralph gets paid for his gear and turns this into Positive PR . Eric keeps jumping. Local skydivers spend some of their hard earned winter money to help out a friend and get a party in return. Readers of this forum get to put their money where their keyboards are. WIN…WIN…WIN Who wants to chip in?? By the way, If the original pukebag thief is reading this, be scared-BE VERY SCARED! We're coming for you next. The whole statute of limitations thing will not help you. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  16. Where do whales go when they have a tooth ache? To the Orcha-odontist Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  17. O.K. Eric, it's now been one week since you posted this story. Have you had any contact with the dealer? Have they been willing to work out any kind of deal? Judging from the response of this post, "skydivers want to know"! ___ Do not send this gear to the dealer until you're sure he is still the rightful owner! If he recieved any type of compensation from Visa, UPS, USPS, Insurance, ect. they would now be the rightful owners. ___ I'm searching for new gear. Is this a dealer I should avoid? Or, is this dealer going to be my first phone call? ___ One last point... Between the dealer, Eric, the guy Eric bought the rig from, cancelled checks, known delivery addresses, etc. I would think the authorities would be very interested in reviewing this case again. Whoever origianlly stole this gear is the asshole in all this! I hope the dealer does bring the FBI into this. Maybe they can identify this asshole and we can see to it he makes one last skydive. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  18. That bridal length has to be long enough for the sleeve to clear out of the way of the deployment. Mine PC had a D-bag on it. Sleves are nice because they protect the canopy from Nylon against Nylon (from the S Folds) friction. And, both were fairly easy to pack. I always liked the bag though?? The guys with sleeves felt they didn't have to be as careful flaking the panels (NOT True!). After changing over to a sleeve, I changed back shortly after. Just a thought... Try this link... http://www.parachutehistory.com/round/pc.html Let me know when you get it together. I'd like to jump it! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  19. On the east side of the Oshkosh Airport, there's some kind of Airframe Restoration Facility with a huge DC-3 Boneyard... Might be related to the EAA?? Anyway, there are DC-3 and C-47 shells everywhere. They really were handsom aircraft. Lots of charactor! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  20. I just herd this story and thought it might be relevent. Cut and Pasted but names edited to protect the innocent. "Stupid ass Dave was at XXXXX and XXXXX's party. Slammin' beers and bragging about Base jumping that night, just the trip to thte HOtel Ivy. Nick XXXXXXX was arrested with him. He was shoooting the vid and taking pictures. The previous night, he (Nick) asked about the routing of the bridle on S A Dave's base rig. "It's all fine" , Dave replied. Nick stepped back, let Dave lead the way. Nick grabbed his pilot chute. Dave walked the hallway until the bridle reached the pin...... Total malfunction. Had Nick NOT done this, we wouldn't have had the now infamous jail time. Just a funeral to miss......" This story just keeps getting better. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  21. First of all, ZX11! secondly, the offer is if you want to make that jump. It'd be worth it to see you try. Hell, if you just want to ride it, show up at Baldwin sometime and we'll go riding... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  22. Wonder if my ZX can do that??? I'm willing to give the key to anyone that wants to try! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  23. This will end up like the radar companies... First, they produced and sold radar guns to police departments. Next, they produced and sold radar detectors to us traffic woofos. Then, they produced and sold "new" radar guns to the police that were, "not detectable" by the radar detectors. And, of course, they then produced and sold "new" radar detectors to us which would detect the "new" radar guns. And so on, and so on... The only thing I can say about all this is "Why didn't I think of it"? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  24. I'm not getting anywhere in Studio! I was able to create the .avi file and used Nero to create the DVD. The quality turned out very good. I'm now looking at other software. I don't want to deal with this issue again. The DVD's are done. I use Light Scrbe to burn the fronts of the DVD"s which is really nice, but very slow. And yes, Sandy, I've a copy for you... PM me an address and I'll send one out. Later this week I will try inserting the .avi back into Studio. I'll let you know how that turns out. ...thanks for all the help!!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  25. Sorry, I didn't mean that at all. We're a very tight community! Which includes all the dealers and manufacturers. All of us. If we all work together, we can find a good solution where no one takes the brunt of this theft against our community... One (accually several) of our brothers was ripped off. I'm pissed and I want to help. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
