Merriah & Carl Eakins from Team Flew-Id organize a “Student Olympics” event every summer. They have several events and it is mostly run by the so called "experienced" jumpers. It’s a great success with up and coming skydivers. There was an article in Parachutist a couple months back. Or, just contact Merriah at Skydive Twin Cities. Since I'm one of the few "not so perfect" American Skydivers whose shit does indeed stink, let me see if I have this correct... You posted this rant complaining about how Americans are constantly complaining?? And, how even though we think we're superior to everyone, we’re definitely not superior to you! This truly is dangerous ground! First, make sure you are aware of what you're doing. Talk to your instructor and ask him/her to help you develop a plan of action. Rehearse the plan and follow it, as rehearsed, if you have a problem. That being said I will give you two examples to think about. Both happened in the last month. 1. After an RW jump, a friend had a pilot chute in tow at about 2500 ft.. He chose to cut away first, then deployed his reserve. He watched his main come out after the reserve had partially deployed and go through the reserves risers. Fortunately, the main did not fully inflate and he managed to gather it back up and control it. He landed fine and all is well. 2. On a recent CRW jump, I had a pilot chute in tow. Since I was at 13,000 ft., I had options. After taking a good look at it, I decided to roll slightly to the left and give the bridal a tug with my right hand. It came off and I had a good deployment. In fact, I managed to get back up and close on the stack. Depending on your experience level, Ask your instructor why both of us did the wrong thing?? The point I would like to make is that both of us had a plan that we followed. Make sure that altitude awareness is part of your plan. I've been in this sport since the 70's... I enjoy every jump today as much as my first. I still consider it a privlige to jump from an airplane, as opposed to a constitutional right. Yes, it's a different sport today, but I still love and enjoy it. And, yes, I've had to alter my mindset a bit. But it's a small amount to pay for doing what I love! One of these new pups came to Baldwin this weekend for the NPSL meet... We put together a nice 4 Stack and did some rotations on Friday evening. Nothing fancy, but is was well flown, good clean fun. Keep developing them pups! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Stockings?.... Bare?... It really doesn't matter! It's all about the legs. You can take a beautiful pair of legs and hide them in a pantsuit. A good leg man will spot them from a mile away.

My wife, a non-skydiver, has taught me one very important lesson over the years... Kill them with kindness! Over the years, I've watched her win argument after argument by being sweet as pie. Even when she's wrong, people go out of their way to help her because "she was so nice". Take this for what it's worth, it really does work. Kill these as_ho_es with kindness and they'll become your greatest allies. Eventually, they'll be calling you to plead with you to hold the Boogie again this year. Jessie "the Body" Ventura called these the stupid laws when he was Govenor of MN. Laws passed to prevent people from doing stupid shit! Everyone knows it's not safe to drive without using a seat belt, so, let's pass a law making it illegal. That way, we can hold the stupid accountalble. Based on the many "Stupid Laws" we have on the books, soon doing anything like jumping from airplanes will be strickly forbidden. The way I see it, as long as the "Stupid Law" police are busy enforcing seat belt and drinking & driving laws, they'll leave us fool skydivers alone. It's been almost 30 years (spring of '79) since my last reserve ride! Granted, I took some years off to raise my kids, I don't make a ton of jumps every year, and I'm not the most experienced jumper in the world. I would even refer to myself as a lifelong student of the sport. Nonetheless, it's really nice to be able to make that statement. By the way, it was a line over on a Paracommander. Thanks Brian (Skruca). 13 sounded a bit low. We tend to forget the popularity of CRW back in the 1980's and early 90's. We all jumped 7 cell F-111's and every dive was a CRW dive. I'd love to attend this event, but I don't have a (lightning) canopy . Will there be any Crew done with older f-111's?? Just last summer, we built a 7 stack over Baldwin with F-111's. Brian (skruca) has done a great job of promoting the return of CRW to Baldwin (Skydive Twin Cities). Because of him, an old fart like me has had an opportunity to do another 7 Stack. And, like he said, were using older F-111’s to bring back the discipline. We could use some help… If anyone out there has an older (Airworthy) Furry or other CRW worthy F-111 canopy, you can donate it to our cause. We’ll put it to good use. We could also use a couple older (larger) rigs and reserves. Many of you have this stuff sitting around taking up space in you closets. I might even be willing to pay for shipping!
