You've only got another 110 jumps to go (I would reccomend more). Then, repost and give it a try. You may not run into a brick wall then. Gain as much experience as you can in those 110 jumps. Ask good questions, make smart decisions, listen to the many very experienced people you seem to distain. You will learn and you will gain experience of your own. Some day... you may even understand! Keep in mind, 200 jumps is considered a "MINIMUM", not a milestone. These are just personal rantings from a self acclaimed student of the sport. I live to learn. My daughter did her 2nd tandem a couple years ago... I did a kiss pass and geeked the camera with her. That was very cool. So, as soon as her and my son get a few jumps under their belts, we'll have to plan a formation jump or some CRW! It only gets better... Wearing a helmet is a "personal choice" that you should have the right to make! Personally, I wear one all the time. I have not found a reason not to. It's noisy, windy, buggy, etc. All the negatives go away if you buy a good one. When people argue this with me, I just show them a couple of old "ground up" helmets that have saved my ass in the past. enjoy... All I remember is climbing out and seeing nothing but ocean!! That little Island was a long way off. Thought I'd never make it back... then, after running with the wind for a short time, I had to turn hold into the wind because the uppers were screaming... I filmed one of his AFF jumps earlier this year, but this weekend, I had an opportunity to make a coach jump with my son... I've made a lot of fun jumps over the last 30+ years in the sport, but, this one I will definately remember. Anyone else experienced this? What a rush. Maybe my point wasn’t clear in my last post. We have several really good organizers and a few that could really bring out the talent in this community. (By the way Bill, like it or not, you're one of them.) My point was; to complete a big way anywhere, there needs to be an organized progression of talent. For my money, training and experience are the best way to accomplish this. What I think would be great is, several smaller training camps. Each designed to develop skills and identify talent with and end result of completing a specific big way. What we really need are “organizer/trainers. It’s one thing to organize something. And don’t get me wrong, just that’s a huge chore. It’s a whole different animal to organize an event that requires training to complete. The old saying, “you have to plan for success”, isn’t entirely correct. I think for any group to complete a 66 way formation, you’ll need to plan & practice for success. I’d love to participate in next year’s attempt. But , I’m brutally aware that I for one would need training and practice along with some experienced and qualified coaching. Bill, Any chance you might coach some big way camps next summer?? It would be fun even if we kept the formations smaller to accomodate one otter. Participants would be "invited" to next years Couch Big Way based on skill. Sometimes formation success is directly proportional to quality training and recruiting. The only problem I have with her is that she is on the same ticket as McSame... Repubs have had the last 8 years to fuck up this country. I vote to let another party have a shot at it. Just came through St. Paul on my way home from Skydive Twin Cities. Cops on every overpass in Riot Gear, Helicopters perched 1000 ft above the arena. Protesters everywhere waiving at traffic. Huge Police presence. The cities look like a police state. Just a damn mess! When they ask to do this in your city in 2012, just say no thanks... To all involved, Thank you all so much! I had a great time this weekend. I learned a lot and really appreciate all the hard work it takes to put on an event like this. Mark Kruse and Jim Rasmussen did a great job of teaching skills that even I could perform. April’s infectious smile and great personality made us all feel welcome. The management and staff of Sky Knights did a great job hosting the event. I plan to work on skills and next time will be ready to participate in the 17-36 way! We’re already planning a CRW event at Skydive Twin Cities. We now have several folks in the area capable of doing offsets. Thanks for the training. Look out East Troy… we’re going after your record!
