Adrenalin junkies in this sport
skyjumpenfool replied to Baksteen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agreed! But it's much more than all of the above. There's the social aspect of this sport, which is also very addictive. Then, there's the physical and/or the mental challenge, both are also very addictive. I'm not trying to imply that skydivers or extreme sport enthusiast tend to have addictive personalities. In fact, I know of several people who do it and don't like it. Thus, they stop. So, I think you have to love it to do it for any length of time. In sort, WE DO IT BECAUSE WE LOVE IT! It's just that simple... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
What I always liked best is when the buzz job came from (the east)over the corn in late August. The sound was muffled until that big radial cleared the corn. Thanks for the video DQ! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Camera Free Zone is code for "Find innovative ways to hide a camera because this is where the good stuff will happen"! Let's face it, what happens in Vegas, no longer stays in Vegas. Like Rare Earth said long ago... Hey, big brother I know you’re out there somewhere If we don’t get our thing together Big brother will be watching us And now, we've become our own "Big Brother"! I have an old Eight Track you could buy cheap! Anyway... Hi 8 ... very old Technology TRV's are Mini DV Today's cameras are much smaller and disc or Hard Drive. TRV's work very well. They are durable and most have LANC capabilities. Good image stablazation and Carl Zues lens. Kinda large by today's standards, but can be had cheap. Hope this helps. But, it looks like you need to update your profile or make a few more jumps before you take a camera into the plane. Ask if you need help setting up a camera. It's been my experience, the guys/gals on this forum are great engineers and always willing to share. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

"Iverson"!!! Wow, there's a name from the past... I don't think Randy ever owned that bird. The Beaver belonged to Mike Haden, I believe. Mike just sold it a while ago and it ended up at Whip Air. Good luck to the new owner! That Bird holds many great memories. Most of us jumpers from the upper midwest have stories to tell. I would love another ride. I bet 8 way exits would be great from those big wheel covers.... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

They have club days at BIR (brainerd international raceway) in Minnesots every summer. Lots of older bikes show up and take laps. This year, their introducing a new track designed with motorcycles in mind. More turns, eliminating the long straight aways. Should be very cool. http://www.brainerdraceway.com/schedule/2009_partial.html Two Wheels under Blue Skies! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

So, I guess this means I have to stop telling Cat/Muskie Bait jokes?? Can't eat em... can't use em for Muskie Bait... Do they expect us to keep em as pets or something?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Yah, but, it's so cool to be on jump run in a little Cessna when the entire Confederate Air Force does a fly by! Complete with several squadrons of Mustangs in formation. In Baldwin, 300 miles to the northwest, we know when the airshow is going on because of the huge increase in air traffic. Keep in mind, Oshkosh is one of the (if not the) largest airshows in the world! Very cool stuff.... I will be there. Would love to jump with anyone?? Let me know... Today's Tale from the Socialist Front...

I've gained 10 pounds in the last 15 years! Surely I deserve a new "Welfare Supported" rig. You can't expect me to jump an undersized canopy at my age? So, Uncle Sam, please send me a check for $8000.00 made out to any gear store. Thanks... P.S. Any canopy will do, but, I prefer Red! You've gotta love entitlement! Putting the entire GOD argument aside for a second, I think Rudd’s argument is more about Australian Culture than about religion. He insists that anyone coming from another culture or religion should respect the culture of the place they are moving to. Or, put simply, “When in Rome”! I think this is also true of recent trends here in the US. And, I think it’s refreshing to hear someone stand up and speak to that issue which may not be politically correct. But, then again, that’s not the ideology our founding fathers used with the Indians now is it?? I now return you to your GOD discussion… Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

DropZone Social Structures

Sorry, it was a feble attempt at sarcasm! I was refering to the reference (above) to "Trailers" and tring to imply that we would appear to be (at least to most woofos) a group of "trailer trash". Not to offend anyone, but hell, look at it from an outsiders point of view?? All in fun, of course! Sarcasm is a form of ironic speech or writing which is bitter or cutting, being intended to taunt its target. A friend and I were on a cycle trip thru Nova Scotia Canada, we were riding the Cabit Trail doing a pretty good pace thru the S turns. All of a sudden, as I came out of a very tight left turn at about 50mph, there in the middle of the road was a huge Bull Moose! He was just standing there looking straight at me. I hit the stopper handles just in time to stop about 10 feet short of him. He just stood there looking at me. Within a few seconds, I heard my friend screetching to a stop right next to me. The two of us just sat there in amaizment. Moral of the story, When in Canada, pay attention to the "Watch for Moose" signs. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I almost won the favors of a beautiful woman once! I approached her very slowly and just said "hello, would you consider going out with me?" I must tell you, I was astonished when she said "I'd love to". But, I still don't get the part about Hell Freezing Over! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

DropZone Social Structures
skyjumpenfool replied to el6uapo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yup! Most of the DZ's I've seen are kind of the "Trailer Trash" variety of social structure. Given the nature of the sport, they also tend to be on the lower end of the Traier Trash spectrum. Also, on a scale of One to Ten, for perspective significant others, it would not quite fall within the given parameters for this scale (less than 1). As for the Male to Female ratio; It's a great place to skydive but that's why really good DZ's always have a bar nearby??? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I have many jumps into that air show. Back when the "Freedom Fliers" were doing it. I'll be there! My dad lives in North Fond du Lac which is 5 minutes from the show. Also, there is a little Cesna dropzone about 10 minutes away in Omro. It's right on hwy 21 just west of the Oshkosh Airport. Let's meet up and make a dive. anyone ever heard of this? motorcycle license related!

I've been riding for nearly 40 years and I'm thinking of taking the course just because it's a good idea. I have a friend who is considering getting his endorsement and I told him I would go with. Just do it, learn what you can, and lets go riding! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

First motorcycle question for you riders...
skyjumpenfool replied to gitRdone's topic in The Bonfire
O.K. I have to chime in here... As I read this thread, I noticed no mention of what kind of bike SHE wants?? Being a old sport bike rider, I don't want to come off as prejeduce, but, many of the kids, including my daughter, picture themselves on sport bikes. Is the Sportster the bike she is interested in? Or the one you see her on? First, encourage her to start small (400c.c. or less) and move up as her experience allows. Then, help her find a bike that fits her (not you)! Also, I can send you some pics of some of my old, ground up and broken helmets. Safety gear is more important than fringe on an expensive leather coat. Biking is like Jumping... You need to be in it for the long haul. Safety First! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
