  1. I found myself in a PCIT situation once on a CRW hop-n-Pop from 13,000ft. I can tell you this... Altitude is your friend!!! A couple other things I learned; 1. Pilot chutes and their bridles do not fly well! They dance around wildly in the burble. 2. The result of this action and the pull from the PC can affect your attitude (angle of fall). 3. Having a predetermined plan is a good idea!!! That being said, I reached around (remember my altitude) grabbed the bridal and gave one good tug. Out came the main, I made it back to the CRW dive… However, trying to grab a dancing bridle can quickly get you into serious trouble. My predetermined plan is to roll slightly left, slightly right (to change the burble), if that doesn’t work, Hi Ho Silver! My altitude allowed me the opportunity to try pulling the bridle. I’ve had this conversation with instructors and students alike. There is no question what I would do in this situation… Follow my emergency procedures as practiced!!!!! 7. I just finished this mod to my Old Mercedes...... It's my first modification and I did all the work myself! Maybe I should work on my riggers ticket?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  8. Oh Sandy, none of us ever called you that.... as far as you know?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  9. NO RMA! I gave up. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. For now, I'm going to hit that Crown Royal one more time......... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  10. Here is the "Sorry" screen (see attached). It takes a while to get to it, but.......... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  11. 45 minutes of chatroom troubleshooting followed by being told I need to send the camera in... So, I'm off to a new url to request service... after filling out all the screens including credit card info, the final screen says "Sorry, this page is not available at this time. Please try later." Tried again several times... no luck. Now I'm back to the service chat... I had to explain the situation several times to a new rep. Only to be told I need to call..... So, I call! Sony's machine answers on the first ring. I now need to answer a long list of questions by pressing #1, 2, or 3. Finally, I'm asked to “please wait”. So, I do. 16:30 minutes later (on my cell phone), an "English Second Language" rep answers and begins to ask a series of questions. The same ones I just answered by pressing buttons. Of course, I have to spell my name about 13 times. Finally, after many minutes of explanations, this rep begins the same troubleshooting process the original rep (who by the way was very helpful) did. After being forced to repeat the hard resets and such, this brain surgeon tells me I need to send the unit in to Sony…. Brilliant! Do I need to go on or do you get the picture? I love my Sony cameras… This, however, was not an enjoyable experience. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  12. I just spent the last 2.5 hours trying to get service for a camcorder that won't turn on. As a result of my complete and total frustration with Sony, I'm now searching for a bottle of Crown Royal! Does anyone have a suggestion (helpful suggestions appreciated, but smart ass comments are welcome) where to get a Sony DCR HC-48 camcorder serviced? The damn thing is like new and will not turn on. Oh, and did I mention that Sony's customer support sucks?????? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  13. The problem here is all this jibber jabber is very superficial and shallow. All we really have to go on are the aviators. Maybe the question should be "Which DZ.com aviator do you want to do"? I'm just saying......... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  15. While we're on this subject, how many of you have experienced total malfunctions and had to pull silver at terminal. Well, consider this... have you ever practiced pulling the silver handle while falling flat and stable? We all practice pulling our mains and using our bodies to compensate to remain stable, but have you ever done practice pulls for your reserve? Hmmm! Food for thought.......... 17. The link to the team in question is broken? If you click the team name, you can't see the picture of this team with all of the team info. Coincidence ??? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

    WTF?

Every time I see one it reminds me of my dad many years ago... Whenever he saw an El Camino going down the street he'd roll down the window and yell... "If you want a car buy a car! If you want a truck, buy a fricken truck!!!" Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  20. Pays his own way???? You must mean like the $2,000 camera set-up on his head, right?? That can be taken out with one kick on any given exit. I absolutely love flying camera with my team but if I had to pay for my slots at competitions, I might not have gotten into team flying. It may not have been something I could’ve afforded to do. Don’t get me wrong, I know what it costs my team members to pay for my slots during competition. That’s why I never charge them for pack jobs. But, I can tell you that it has NOT paid for my investment. You guys were blessed with (Pinky) a great camera flyer for years. He was a true competitor. I don't know what financial arrangement you had, but I do know that he made a lot of practice jumps with you guys. I’m hoping your point is that there’re some camera flyers that do it just for the money (we’re getting rich??). Because I know of many that really take it seriously. In fact, I know of one that did a couple “free” practice jumps with you guys just to improve his camera flying skills. And, by the way, you guys made his job way to easy. He found out that the “novice” teams were a better method of learning camera flying. Teams need to bring a variety of skill sets to the table. In competition skydiving, camera flying is as important a skill set as is any other. Inside Center will have a different skill set then the Tail or the Point, etc. A good camera flyer can add a lot of points to a team’s score by not having any camera busts. Anyway, I think teams which include video as a requirement for competition should consider the camera flyer as a fully vested team member. If you don’t, you may be missing out on a very important part of the competition… the friendship and respect for ones team mates!! 21. It was fashonable then.... Has the sport changed, or are we getting older??? Oh my God!!! Have we become "The Man"??? Food for thought! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  22. ???? WTF? On the face of it, grounded for the season...I hope? +1 on that... Blindly following anyone makes no sense. If the most experienced jumper alive or the newest jumper has any questions, I would hope they could find a "friendly" place to get their questions answered. The fact that the OP asked this is evidence that he/she has some questions. Of course we'd like to see them having this discussion with their instructors. However, at the very least, we'd hope they would check in with their instructor on what they've learned here. Give your instructor a chance to verify your understanding of this or any situation. I know exactly what I would do in this situation! That's not the same thing I would advise you to do. Nor would I advise you to listen to me or any above poster. Take in all this discussion. And then, talk with your instructor about all this. Evaluate the scenario with him/her until you have a thorough understanding of what "YOU" should do. Put that information away in case you should ever need it. The best advice for this situation is… Altitude awareness!!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  23. Yah, Yah, Rub it in... You know us teachers can't get off in November. Plus, if we could, we'd have to go deer hunting or somethiong. Have fun though, wish I could join you. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  24. I've been using the tv setting at 200iso. We've been playing around with manual focus mode and it seems to produce a bit quicker frame rate. Don't be to quick to order one, Cannon just introduced the G11. Reduced Mega Pixels which may be in response to slow frame rate or noise at higher iso's??? http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=19209 Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
