Can a Cookie G2/3 help keep you from drowning?
skyjumpenfool replied to Skydivesg's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All this beggs the question... Can other parts of the sky divers equiptment be built to float? For instance, leg pads? Cutaway handles? Back Pads? Jumpsuit grippers? Helmet padding? I hope the manufactuers are listening. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Good info here...

Exellent point Sandy. I'm guessing the foam in a Protec would float as well. Something to think about in an unintentional water landing. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
If it looks airworthy, at least let me pay for shipping.

go crazy freefly suits

He said you seem to like the Trolls... I don't believe he was calling you a Troll. Just my take? You are absolutely correct about the belly skills. However, if freeflying is the carrot to bring this Newb along, let's encourage him down that path in a safe manner without putting him down or pissing on his fire. -
but... we're having way to much fun. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Yep. There's only one other guy from my first jump course (of 12)who is still jumping. Of course, that was over 30 years ago. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Al BeVier doing his first 2 stack... on an old Maverick over Skydive Twin Cities with Dave (Proz) Prozinski. Hey Top... recognize that canopy? We continue to introduce people to CRW using older (still airworthy) F-111's. Several have gone on to do more CRW. Please let us know if you have an older F-111 available. Al went on to do his first pin and even tried a rotation over the top of a 3 stack. He is now "hooked".

Another point of view would be... don't do anymore Bigways until you sort out your opening problems? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Hmmm? When was the last time you looked around a DZ at the jumpers? Let's face it, not all of us look like athletes. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

No! There are two of us. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Trying to change that..... My Intro to Engineering class last semester was filled with knuckle heads. All they wanted to do was screw around and tell jokes. They were always talking, throwing stuff at each other, etc. They were a very "fun loving" group. Not your standard "engineering" fare. On second thought, they'll probly never make it as engineers. They're more likely to become something mondane like.... AFF Instructors. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I've not had a reserve ride in >>30 years? At a meet where I was jumping camera for several teams, I had a spinning, sniveling, crappy opening (packed by a packer). I got it sorted out and did not have to cut away. But, I went to the packer and discussed it with him. I did this so he could keep an eye out for damage on the next pack job. He offered to "not charge me" for that pack job. Although that was a nice gesture, I told him that (as Twardo put it) I pay for the pack job, not the opening. I got beautiful openings the rest of the day. The best pack job in the world does not insure good openings. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

What is the business case for fun jumpers?
skyjumpenfool replied to 3mpire's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Seems to me, a good business model (even DZ's) would be to encourage each and every revenue stream. Even to the point of selling observer rides. Each and every dollar fills the bank account. -
I wouldn't bet on that - OK, point taken. On the serious side, with the pictures they have and the size of the skyleaping community, they won't have to much trouble identifying these guys. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Congrats!!! I went thru the same progression, but now, 30+ years into it, I'm making more jumps than ever. Priorities change, that's not a bad thing. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

The police have better things to do than look for common base jumpers. They are pissed, however, that one of them did not have enough jumps to be wearing a Go-Pro. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
