Winters are for snow sports .. NEVER forget that!! Winters are for snow sports .. Like jumping in the winter? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Seems to me, raising the BSR is a good thing. Some have talked about "Demo Teams" not being allowed to do lower Hop -N- Pops? Maybe, in light of recent incidents, they shoud not be doing this? At least until we know more. To that end, USPA has put the safety of it's members first. And this, Ron, is wether you like it or not. I personally don't see the conspiriacy. Until we find out what is going on here (I've seen much theory and conjecture but no research based facts) I think the USPA has made a good decision. It must, however, be followed up with a full investigation to find out why people are dying. And this, Ron, is why I lke that you are being vocal on this subject. If manufactuers (the best, most innovative minds we have)are crying for this change, then I assume there must be good cause? Again, the USPA is making this decision for the good of it's membership based on information it has. Remember, if we just make the reserves open faster, then we'll just be dying from broken necks during opening shock. This is a complex problem. Although I don't buy the conspiriacy theory, I applaud Ron for calling attention to this subject. Also, Mark said "he gives up" We all know Mark has never given up on anything. OK! Now I've got you. I was once a gymnast. In fact, I was a national champion before you were born. You are correct, it takes years to develope the skills to do gymnastics. Skydiving is no different. In fact, skydiving is probly more involved because (as stated above) there's no spotters catching your sorry ass. Let me ask you this.... On your first day in the gym, after learning forward rolls, did you leave for three weeks and return to do forward saltos? As an AFF student, you've only learned forward rolls. You are not ready for Full in-Doubles yet. Stop talking stupid and put the time in to learn the sport or get off the High Bar. Judging from your attitude, you're probly not any better at gymnastics than you'll ever be in skydiving. Loose the attitude and you have a chance. I appologize if this sounds contrite or short. But, for God's sake, read what you have posted. Edited to add; Oh ! And by the way... You, my friend, are the lowest common denominator! That's not a put down or personal attack, just a fact based on your attitude.

You're absolutely correct Doug! However, always remember, other students do read this stuff. And, they learn from it. ...right or wrong? One more commet... OP - It sounds as though you can NOT afford to skydive. That is not a bad thing, many of us feel your pain. There is nothing cheap about this sport. But, lack of funds is no excuss for not staying currenty. Either get current and licensed, get out of the sport, or continue to opperate under student status. Basically, those are your choices. Some of us find ways to jump all winter. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Apparently, you do stand alone on this. And, No! Based on the above responses, nobody even "partially" agrees with you. There is much to be learned from this fact alone. Jump more often, or be prepared to re-train all the time. Or, buy a bowling ball. This is NOT sarcasm. This is me giving you good advice. Visit the DZ and ask your questions. You seem able to make sound decisions. If you still have questions, come back here. Welcome to the sport.

Check with your local rigger. Some will not pack older gear. If you can't get it packed, it's not worth much.

There is a time and place for everything. Kids should be closely supervised and put to bed early. DZ antics are not for young eyes. I've seen many DZ parents do this very well and watched these kids grow into great young adults. We all need to curb our behavior a bit when kids (and woofos) are nearby. Once the beer light is on, put the kids to bed. As for dogs... I love the DZ dogs! I just don't think it's a great place to bring your dog. Kinda like the Uptown Art Fair a local Mlps. outdoor event where some people think it's "cool" to drag your dog along thru the crowds. As an OLD gymnast I can tell you this... Back Flips are very difficult to initiate in the Pea Gravel Pit. But, when you land on your face due to the lack of rotation from said poor initiation, you will not get hurt bad. However, I think the current administration has passed laws that prohibit the freedom of initiating a back flip in the peas... how's that Krip? Nice... but, I'm a dog lover/owner. My dog is a sweetheart that loves people. However, I leave my dog at home! It's the nicest thing I can do for her. Personal opinion... DZ's are for skydivers. Dog parks are for dogs. Never do a demo into a dog park and never bring your dog to the DZ.
