Swooping in turbulence - toggles or risers?
prost replied to Geoff's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I absolutly love to swoop. A lot of the time it is my main motovation for getting on the plane. However, there is a time to just not swoop. Turbulent days are one of those times. Remember, as long as you don't break yourself, you have the rest of your life to swoop. William -
Oh well. I guess there will be no funny moose hats for me in the near future. William

How many posts is poo-bah? William

Thanks chris. Exactly what I was looking for. William

Hey I just noticed my title changed to old hand. I have 320 posts so I guess it happened at 300. Does this mean I get to wear one of those funny moose hats now or something? William

Thanks Chris. Could you go into a little more detail about "We also install our "Stabilrib" and include a new slider." William

There are so many people willing to pitch in and help, it just makes me swell up with pride. William

Ok I knew this was going to get ugly. AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave. It is a special case of the RIFF (Resource Interchange File Format). AVI is defined by Microsoft. AVI is the most common format for audio/video data on the PC. AVI is an example of a de facto (by fact) standard. MPEG formats are an extension of AVI. When you compress you lose quality. This is a very basic view but will serve the purpose. William

My current set up has a reserve that is almost twice as big as my main. The reserve is so much slower that with a little help from me I think the main could be completely collapsed. William

I was in best buy the other day and stopped to se the little beast. I had the same experience. Camera but no tapes. I am sure this will change, but there will still be a lot of comprimises with it. It is also always a good idea to wait for the second generation of new technology. That way they have most of the bugs worked out. William

Unless you are the drunk. William

I like it. That is exactly what I want in a rig. Chances are better that I will land in a bad spot under a reserve than having two canopies out. I like having the extra square foottage over my head when things are going wrong. Also I am not going to find a sub 100 square foot reserve that will fly well with my fx anyway. William

You can also add to that list, almost impossible to find accessories for. It is even hard to find the tapes. William

any one get their FX relined with HMA lines? I am coming up on a reline and was wondering if anyone else had tried it? William

Good idea. I knew someone could save the day.

It is not clear if triple risers offer any advantage. I have used both and I currently use standard risers. I don't think the added confusion should be used on a first rig. Especially when there is no gain. William

I am gald you didn't really retire from posting here skybytch. Even though I don't always agree, I value your input. William

Read my post again. You missed the point. The hard cup is for protection only. The fact that it goes over the chin prevents the helmet from coming off. The strap used on skydiving helmets will not do this because they only go under the chin. In other words the chin cup keeps your hemet from rolling off because it goes over the chin instead of under it, not because of it being hard. William William

My reserve. I am confident my reserve will open properly with me back to the ground. I also would rather land it if I had a broken leg. William
