  1. I don't like this technique. The object of performing a front riser movement is to gain speed. The speed that you lose going into brakes now has to be regained. As soon as you regain this speed, the riser pressure is just as hard as it was before. All this does is increase the amount of turn you need to create the same forward speed. William
  2. They are no changing the line trim if i remember correctly. Chris could you comment on this? As far as lines snapping, if you don't pack correctly it is easy to snap a line. I have seen many vectran (and every other line for that matter) lines snap with not a lot of jumps on them. The person always claims they packed it the same way they always do but that is not usaully the truth. A properly packed parachute will not produce as much force as a hook turn under a heavily loaded canopy. Many high performance canopies have went through hundreds of jumps under these stresses with no problem. I am tired of the witch hunt mentality that seems to be developing lately. It doesn't do anyone any good. William
  3. I am going to try and make it out. Anyone else planning on being there? William
  4. Thanks agian for letting me jump your canopy this weekend Jason. It did open nice. William
  5. I was there last weekend. I was the one that set up the blades with Jason. For the beer swoop, another jumper was in the way and I had to set up way short and came up just short of the peas (yellow fx). I haven't competed in any meets yet but I can already tell there is a big difference in competition and swooping the peas. William
  6. Does anyone know of any swoop meets on the East Coast this year besides the Pond Swoop Nationals? William
  7. I am still trying to picture exactly what happened here. Could you provide a little narrative or better yet a video link. William
  8. Do you know which one? I didn't see it. William
  9. Anyone have info on these canopies? Who has jumped them? Dan I am sure you will give us some info and I would also like to hear from anyone else who has jumped one. William
  10. The new web site looks good Dan. Looks like you are going to try to broaden your market. I am going to start a new forum, I would like to know more about your tandems. William
  11. I wouldn't recommend a ring site for students. You can fly a lot closer than 4 way. All you need to do is to train your self to move your head instead of just your eyes. A good trick to do this is to go out and buy a pack of paper hole reinforcements (little circle shapped stickers). For a little over a buck you will have a life time supply. Find out where you need to look and then but it on your googles. This will help you learn to not move your eyes away from the student. William

    Torn PCL

Found out today I have a torn PCL. I hurt it several years ago. Since I have been back in the Marine Corps my knee keeps hurting and I can not sprint or run up a hill. Doc says six month recovery. This sucks big time. William
  15. I don't know at what point it just becomes to big but I think he reached it.
  16. I am in virginia right now. I will be back home this weekend. I will look and post it then. William
  17. And they change it so much you really have to put in a good amount of time to learn how to use it agian. They do make a very good product though. William
  18. For skydiving there is no advantage to SLR. A SLR camera might come with other features you like however. The reason I say this is that the advantage of SLR is that the image you see in the viewfinder is the exact image that is recorded on film. Through the use of a mirror you look out of the lense that is going to tke the picture. You are not going to be looking through the viewfinder if the camera is on your head. Now SLR cameras typically come with other features you might like detachable lenses, better lenses, more control of camera settings, and faster time between pictures. I am planning on going to a SLR camera, but that does not mean it is best for everything. SLR cameras are also usually larger, heavier, and more expensive. The reason I am going to one is because I am ready to start taking pictures for magizines, advertisements, and just do some more creative shots with them. I am also not going to put it on one of those small freefly camera helmets. It is going on a Flat Top Pro. I believe for most people who want to take good pictures of their friends or doing student video/camera work, a small good point and shoot like the Elph LT is the way to go. William
  19. I will look and see if I can still find it. William
  20. Whatever you do don't get the aps camera by skydance. Poor picture quality and a lot of problems. William
  21. I use one for tandems. There are no special lenses for it. It uses APS film (also marketed as advantix). I have even had one of the pics from it used on a advertisement for the dropzone. One negitive point is that film will end up costing you about .50 more per roll but I am willing to give this up to have such a small light camera. William
  22. There is a guy out there that is converting Canon elph Lt cameras to have a remote switch. You would be amazed at how good of a picture this camera takes. It is very small and only a few ounces. For anything short of entering your pics in a magizine, it is the way to go. i have a couple of them. The conversion can be done yourself, but believe me it isn't worth it. William
  23. What do you plan on using it for? William
  24. Any one know the results? William
  25. To a degree, yes, but some canopies build up more than others. The stilletto seems to buid up a lot. This is due to the desing of the canopy. William
