I watched it, I think I threw up a little in the back of my mouth.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Because she does not appear to hold the 'My country, right or wrong' stance she should leave... wow... so what about all the folks that don't agree with what your current government is doing... should they leave too? It's been oft (correctly) stated on here that if you don't like the system ... campaign and vote to change the system ... is that to be changed now to "if you don't like what we're doing f***k off" ? The thing about our 'flavour' of democracy is that folks can hold contrary opinions without let or hindrance There is different levels of contrary opinions... 1. Simple disagreement 2. Debating 3. Protesting 4. Active civil disobedience 5. Treason Where would you classify hanging around with and supporting a terrorist? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. your racism is showing... No, my presence in the Middle East and direct observation are showing. Please name one Arab democracy (the puppet government of Iraq doesn't count, because it is not indigenous [imo]). Go ahead, I'll wait. mh . Turkey, that was easy..... But I wouldn't count them. They are more of a mediterainian country than middle eastern...... Not Arabs, either. I suppose you are correct, but it is a primarily muslim country. Kind if where I was going with the second part of the post. Thanks for helping me clarify

Do you honestly think that will be the end of it? I don't. I think that since Hamas is supported by Iran and their stated goal is to wipe Israel off the map, that they will simply use the gain of the land as a way to further shrink Israel and allow them to more effectively continue their campaign of terrorists attacks. http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/docs/950500.htm once the palestinians have a viable state they have no further need of iran... The palestinian government is full of corrupt despots. They will do what ever iran pays them to do. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Executing American Citizens without benefit of trial
jgoose71 replied to jimbrown's topic in Speakers Corner
I shouldn't be sharing this story, but I have to get it off my chest.... My most intense day in Afghanistan was when we were on patrol outside of Tora Bora. The night before the Airforce had dropped lawyers on a Taliban strong hold and one went off course and landed in a school full of children.... The villagers saw our convoy and called us in. The look of panic in their eyes told the whole story. I sent in my robot to investigate. I knew that things were going from bad to worse when I saw he still had a grip on his suit case and pen. This lawyer was fully armed. I tried to disarm him with the robot, but it was hard to maneuver it behind the desk. I had to dawn my bomb suit and go hands on..... I tried every trick in the book to no avail. We lost a few children, the school, and some good troops. I only escaped because of the bombsuit, though my body was twisted and scared. I will never be the same. The indecent was covered up to prevent the brass from being tried for war crimes. A charge that can earn you death by firing squad..... If I should disappear tomorrow for sharing this with you, please make sure the story is passed on so the truth doesn't die with me..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I'll send you my card. I was of the belief that lawyers can NOT be guided - they already know everything.... or so a lawyer told me. No, the dropping of lawyers on a country has been banned by the Geneva conventions, kind of like cluster bombs and mines, because of the damage they do to the country side and making a place uninhabitable....... Think of the children..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
Oh yeah? What about the weight of all those additional people in the northern hemisphere? The planet is going to capsize. and we'll all get to sleep with the turtles, all the way down. Easily solved. Move the U.S. marines to Guam (closer to the equator) and the planet won't capsize, just Guam..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. You realize that the U.S. government now knows your location, right? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -

I guess when American citizens move to foreign countries and take up arms against the U.S. maybe we should start dropping laser guided lawyers instead of laser guided bombs? Either way, I think i know cars enough to know that a Model S doesn't look like a Lotus... On a serious note, I do like Tesla. Winning the lottery is the only way I would be able to afford a Roadster. The Model S is more practical and affordable. I may be able to get one in my grasp a few years from now, if I start saving. You would have to see the Top Gear episode. Tesla, I think, stands a pretty good chance, especially after they (Tesla) examined the vehicle. All evidence points to (and for why I can't seem to find out) make the company look bad. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Strongly considering getting a Model S after they come out. They will start at $50K. To me they look kind of like a Maserati. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

I admit it. My yes vote was simply to get Amazon's panties in a bunch. I always wondered what she would look like in a thong..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
How close do you have to be to a bullet to hear it go by?

Yup.. not happenin You have obviously never been around a bunch of Iraqi's as they celebrate by shooting a bunch of rounds in the air.... What goes up must come down.... If the guy was shooting straight up into the air, it could happen. If you get hit by a round like that, it's usually not as lethal. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I do not need a well defined enemy. I know who the enemy is. I know there are good ones and bad ones. What I have been trying to get across here is that in the other countries where there are bad ones, the good ones need to stand up to them. Until that happens, we will have more of the same. Yes, there are those good Muslims that have been caught in the cross fire. I have seen AQ tie up a family in a house, wait for an American convoy to come by and open fire so the convoy shoots up the house so they could get video tape of Americans killing innocent women and children. Who are you going to blame for those deaths? The Americans or Al Qada? And am I a good American? To some Iraqi's and Afghani's I am the Bee's Knee's. To others, there is a bounty on my head. I have come to recognize the words "I'll get you bomb man!" in Farsi..... SpeedRacer, you start by saying that the attacks are not justified and then say "but" and make excuses for them. What was your point again? You misunderstood what I was saying. When I said Al Qada have killed more of their own, I'm talking about fellow Muslims, not fellow Al Qada members. Al Qeda is resonsible for more Muslim deaths than the U.S. and coalition forces combined. I am having some difficulties tracking down exact numbers but here are some statistics for you: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/killing_muslims_F654zSShSZlA5LnLIFkJKL I get Iraq and Afghanistan better than you think. After working with them, training with them, living with them for years, I got more than my fair share of their culture. As I have said before, until the good Muslims stand up to the bad Muslims in the countries where it counts, we are going to still have these problems. P.S. After a long philosophical conversation with a guy I consider a friend in Afghanistan I can tell you why 3 wives is the perfect number. Not 1, 2, or 4, but three..... Well, and although this is a 'slight' tangent... just look at the American reaction to Americans of Japanese descent during WW2 . so please don't say that it can't happen there. Still... Another good example of how fucked up Arab Countries are. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, just like Muslims attacked the world trade center in a sneak attack, what happened after that? With Japan, WWII happened, America won, we kissed and made up, became allies, Japan was rebuilt and became a economic power.... With Afghanistan and Iraq, America won the ground war, tried to rebuild the countries, the countries resisted being rebuilt, Arabs kill more of their own than U.S. forces do while trying to rebuild their infrastructure, blame the U.S. for themselves beheading there own, and stay in the dark ages..... Another good example of the culture being fucked up in there countries. Yes, there was an anti-Japanese thing going on in the U.S. after Pear Harbor, just like there was an anti-Muslim thing after 9/11, but America moved on pretty quickly. People living in the U.S. are not as Bigoted as those in the Muslim countries. Like I said, their attitudes and cultures over there need to change. That is where the problem is. Of those 30,000 killed, how many were good and how many were just caught in the cross fire? Now how many Muslims has Bin Laden, Al Qada and the Taliban killed? Al Qada and the Taliban have killed more of thier own than anyone else. When we kill the Al Qada or Taliban members, Afghani's and Pakistani's sit quietly on their hands. WHEN we pull out, the death toll in those area's will rise again and they will be happy for some strange reason. When I say that their attitude in those areas need to change, this is what I am talking about. Yes, those muslims that have moved to America get it. Those that are still over there, don't. Our troops were on a base, by permission of the government, not allowed to leave and didn't hurt no one in Saudi Arabia. Try again. No, that was in fact OBL's foremost complaint with the USA. OBL did not approve of the Saudi Govt, especiallly when they snubbed him and his mujahadeen in the fight against Saddam Hussein in '91. The Saudi government went with the US-led coalition instead, and then agreed to keep the large US presence in the country. This infuriated OBL and other Religious extremists. Also, according to Muslim laws, the Saudi government is not according to Islam because it is a hereditary monarchy. Read up on it. The US troop presence in "the Land of the Two Mosques" was the foremost complaint. Which once again proves MY point. When In Saudi, we didn't do anything to the any of the Saudi's. Just our presence was enough to send them into a violent rage. Are you arguing that their reaction was justified? If our government allowed a military base from a foreign country to be built in the U.S., would a similar reaction by Americans be justified? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I saw that coming. I will admit that I was surprised by the choice, but there isn't a noun that could be used that somebody wouldn't bitch about. They probably should have stuck to a meaningless two word code phrase. My vote is still for "Operation Mutherfucking Asshole" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I've read bits and pieces of both. The Koran is vengeful, kind of like the old testament. If the Muslims ever got a new testament, it might bring them out of the dark ages. I think they have been living in the "Spanish inquisition" of the Muslim era long enough. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Strange, but he way I see it, if they hadn't come over here and crashed planes into our buildings, we wouldn't be over there. As far as other values go, Bin Laden has been responsible for more Muslim deaths than us. I don't know how that would be keeping their own safe. Unless killing your own for converting to another religion has some how become the new definition of "safe". Still not seeing a turn around. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
