  1. We had discussed this earlier. Do you believe that the amount of fluency required to pass the English portion of the citizen requirements is enough to be able to testify in court? I certainly don't. The vocabulary is ridiculously small. By the way, the English requirement was racially motivated. Our founding fathers didn't see it as necessary. Source; http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/historyonline/immigration_chron.cfm Not having taken the test, I don't know. I would assume that to pass it, you would have to know enough english to be able to communicate an idea though. As far as being racially motivated, the past is the past. To fix the now, what do you think having a bunch of people that can't understand each other would do? We already have ideology that separates the country. Now add language. 2. I think you are seeing things where they don't exist. For most normal U.S. Citizens, the issue is communications. No one is saying you can't speak other languages, but you need to speak English too. It's about everyone in a country being able to communicate and erase divisions. And while the U.S. does not have an official language, it's already been pointed out that to become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you need to be able to speak English well enough to pass the test administered by the department of immigration. http://www.us-immigration.com/blog/check-list-when-applying-for-us-citizenship Even the government understands this. 3. So if fox news, CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, and such get there news from independent news reporters, Rueters, Associated Press, New York times and such, and you think that nothing they report is valid, where do you get your news? The Bloggosphere? There is a reliable source. And we all know Kieth Oberman isn't running for president, but you obviously missed that Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabie are not running for president either. Which Fox news correspondent in running in 2012 again? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 4. the DNC is a marketing organization. Everything that comes out is going to be the most positive spin imaginable. That we can agree on. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 5. I guess you guys are kind of limited in your watching of the news networks. let me help you out. When I watch MSNBC, I get to see a bunch of guys sit around slamming everything republican. When I watch fox news, I get to watch democrats and republicans throw shit back and forth at each other. While Fox may have a lot of right wing hosts, they will at least invite an opposing view for a lively debate. My favorites are Bill O'rielly and John Stewart. John Stewart is very smart for being a professional smart ass and it's always a good show. Sean Hannity and Bob Beckel go at it like cats and dogs. It's a good time. I have yet to see any real debate like this on MSNBC. It's all about promoting an agenda. This is the key differences in the networks. While Fox has a lot of Conservative hosts, they are not affraid to invite Anthony Weiner on rather than just show clips of him and have a panel bash him for an hour. 6. Let me offer another reason why it might not be getting a lot of play. In this interview she was sure to mention how great the economy is doing by talking about how Obama has created a million jobs in the last 6 months. New jobless claims for this month alone were close to 500,000. If you ask business why they are not hiring, they will tell you it's because they are unsure how much that new hire is going to cost them with taxes, healthcare, etc.... In short, everything out of her mouth is a load, and if the story got to much press, it would hurt the DNC's ability to fund raise. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 7. Another Alternut post defending terrorists. What a surprise. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  8. ROTFLOL, grow the fuck up..................the man lied like a dog....total BS and you think because someone else did worse your guy should get a pass???? Ya, this sums it up right here. Vitter was caught and quit. Weiner lied about it until he was forces out by ridicule. According to the deomcunts here, isn't lying and hypocrisy the greatest crimes known to man? That's what we get when ever family values comes up. (All the talk about resculicans and repubicans and such, I thought I would give it a try with democunts. What do you think? Catchy?) 9. The DNC's party chairman Schultz has been quoted saying the economy "has turned around" since President Obama took office, with steady job growth evident even if the pace leaves something to be desired. http://nation.foxnews.com/dnc/2011/06/15/dnc-chair-schultz-we-own-economy In other news, when google searching this stuff, no main stream media outlets are covering this story. There is video of it and everything.... I wonder why? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 10. Not necessarily true. If you make more than a million a year, it will all get taxed out of you unless you have access to a lobbyist to get you a special break. Lobbyists are probably outside of a millionaire's or most small business owners reach. You got to be a Jeffrey Imelt. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  11. You see? this right here is what I am talking about. I never needed an OBD-what-ever-the-fuck-it-is before to adjust the fuel-air mixture or idle speed of my car. My tool box only has a couple of screw drivers and open end wrenches.... And C4 for when my car starts asking to talk to computers..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  12. In all fairness, back when I was a kid driving around my '73 Camaro, I did a lot of the work on that thing my self. The cars were simpler. Anyone with an instruction manual and a little mechanical know how can rebuild a carburetor, replace brakes, change oil, or wire a stereo. Most cars now a days, step 1 is: Hook to $10,000 special diagnostic computer for that car. This is a critical first step, because if you don't, you won't know which computer module to change. 13. Let me help you out with something. It doesn't matter how much of the income you try to tax from the rich, they will have a lobbyist put a rider in the bill to get them an exclusion. Then you and I will be stuck with the bill. We still have troops in Iraq, and Obama surged Afghanistan and got us involved in Syria. Despite what you have heard on your news channels, government has grown also. Democrats use filibusters as much as Republicans. After Obama had his closed door secessions with the Pharmaceutical companies and HMO's, healthcare skyrocketed and is not slowing down. Hospitals have stopped taking Medicare because they are loosing money. GE (the democratic poster child) Shipped over 20,000 jobs over seas, made over $14 billion in profits, and paid $0 in taxes. As a matter of fact they received government subsidies. Thats what happens then you are the CEO of a company and the president's job czar. Since Jeffey Imelt also owns MSNBC, I wouldn't count them as a reliable news source also. They have been caught up in more lies than Fox news, news max, drudge report combined. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  14. So How many poor people have offered you jobs? I really wish it was as simple as democrats v. republicans. the truth is neither party right now is doing anything to help. Both have their base they have to pander to and neither have ti in their interest to correct the problem. The new demographic that you are going to see coming up in the near future that will hopefully put America on the right track is insiders v. outsiders. Those that want to keep the status quo and those that really want change. To bad the left is to busy telling lies about the Tea Party instead of figuring out what they stand for to understand this basic truth. If they closed their mouths and opened their mind, they may figure out that they have more in common than what they think. To bad MSNBC is a part of the establishment. 15. WTF are you talking about? The republicans only control the house. Democrats still control the White house and the Senate. They haven't been able to do anything to help jobs. Nothing they want to do with health care has been passed. Grandma hasn't been pushed over the cliff yet. And all the uncertainty Obama has put into the economy is still there. Companies are still shipping all the jobs overseas to escape all the unions and regulations, or they are sitting on the money so they don't have to pay for all the healthcare penalties that they will incur for new hires. As for social security, it's still on course for going bankrupt and the deficit is still growing at a record rate. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  16. This story is an interesting side show, but this really isn't news. I mean, it's not a Republican, so who cares? He's a democrat. If he wants to send out naked pictures of himself, throw orgies, date donkeys, well, those are the Principals his party was found on. Buy one sex party, get one of equal or lesser value for free. Once again, non-issue. There are more important things going on right now. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 17. You forgot the: "My representative thought it was a good idea, why can't we saddle him with the debt?" response. It's what happens when you give someone access to a blank check and no responsibility for the consequences. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 18. I think you are a little off here. The Palestinians teach their kids to hate the Jews with pictures of Mickey Mouse the Jihadist and martyr. The Isrealies hate the Palestinians because every time their prime minister says a peace deal has been worked out, rockets come raining down on the civilian population. Both sides do have to bear some of the blame, but as for about the last 25-30 years since the Palestinians have taken up terrorism, I would have to say one side takes gets more of the blame than the other.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  19. You have hit the nail on the head hear. Yes, Palestinians have been wronged, but that was over 70 years ago. Peace has been offered many times, but they won't accept it. With over 7,000 rockets a year being launched into civilian populations by Palestinians, it's hard for any peace deal to move forward. When the PLO can stop kidnapping Israeli's and launching rockets into Israel after a cease fire has been negotiated, then there might be peace. This has been a problem since Carter was president. 20. If the armistice terms is no military presence in the Sinay, UN peace keepers and free access, moving troops where they are not allowed is armed aggression Apparently if someone is getting ready to attack you, you should just have the U.N. right them a letter telling them how angry they are.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TEvacFETvM "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 21. Last time I did this cruise, meals, ammunition and weapons were included. Of course, we didn't see any pirates though. I guess our cruise liner didn't look attractive them, seeing that it was big, grey, and had visible guns off the decks...... Maybe we need to launch more bottle rockets at night and play more disco music? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 22. Agreed. My point was there are various stages of protesting your government. At some point it's possible to cross a line where maybe you should reconsider your citizen ship of that country. True, but also consider the other side of the coin.... what about all of the Iraqis and Afghans that are assisting the coalition ... then surely they are being far more treacherous. When does acting for the common good of all trump treason? That is the million dollar question isn't it? There is no clear line in the sand on this one, but when looking at a country the gauge I have used is the level of corruption and human rights violations committed by the government of that country. Here in the U.S., as much as I may dislike our current government, we are still no where close to needing a rebellion. I would never go to a foreign country ruled by a terrorist and try to prop them up while talking shit about my own. While it has it's faults, I believe we still have the best system around. 23. Why would anyone pay a $1,000 a month for a $100 deduction? Yea, I get it but if given the choice, I would much rather own my home outright. 24. Because she does not appear to hold the 'My country, right or wrong' stance she should leave... wow... so what about all the folks that don't agree with what your current government is doing... should they leave too? It's been oft (correctly) stated on here that if you don't like the system ... campaign and vote to change the system ... is that to be changed now to "if you don't like what we're doing f***k off" ? The thing about our 'flavour' of democracy is that folks can hold contrary opinions without let or hindrance There is different levels of contrary opinions... 1. Simple disagreement 2. Debating 3. Protesting 4. Active civil disobedience 5. Treason Where would you classify hanging around with and supporting a terrorist? As a matter of law, it is not treason. Period. I comprehend the emotion behind your feeling that she is being morally treasonous; but legally? Not a chance. You are right, it's not treason yet. Right now I rank her around, oh, say, Micheal Moore, Danny Glover, or Sean Penn. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
