Economically the government is doing well because they have a nation of slave labor. You need to spend more time in main land china to truly understand the living conditions of the average Chinese dude. Are you saying your willing to trade your life style that you have right now for the life style of the average Chinese man? I'd like to see that. As I said earlier, we have the doers and the do nots. The Chinese government has a special way to deal with them also. Do you think that it would be OK for the US government to treat US citizens the same way? Do you really understand the trade offs? I was watching on the news and once again the President was beating the drums of social justice. He dreams of a world where everyone has plenty. Right now we have the haves and the have nots. The next obvious question I have to follow up with is what about he do and the do nots? Everyone having everything is a great goal. But you will always have a section of society that will not got to school, will not work, will not contribute anything but will still expect the same things as the guys out there making America great. What do you do with them? The idea of social justice is that everyone contributes and everyone gets credit. What do you do to the guys that won't contribute? And I'm not talking about the guys that can't. There are people that try but get doors shut on them. They obviously need help. I'm talking about people that scam the system and refuse because they can and throw off the social dynamic, making the system that all liberals dream of unfeasible. What do you do with those guys? President George W. Bush Launches the 4% Project

My point is just because something is charted by congress doesn't make it non-partisan. Government unions? Partisan. NPR? Partisan. and lost but not least, Institute of medicine? Who do you think stood in front of the president on the White House lawn dressed in lab coats pushing his health care bill? Not doctors from actual hospitals. They work in the real world and know what his plan will eventually do to the health care system. When you need the naive and indoctrinated, look no further than a college campus. President George W. Bush Launches the 4% Project

Just to be clear, this sub-thread came out of my comments on the National Academies report (post #77, this thread), and contrary to what some ignorant posters appear to believe based on what they have posted subsequent to that, the National Academies are NOT colleges or universities. Many members are in fact industrialists, physicians, surgeons, engineers, etc. The National Academies are very definitely non partisan, and were chartered by Congress. Just like NPR? It's puff-puff-give... Stop bogarting.... You know damn well that would get you an "F" in contemporary politics. The very nature of the paper goes against their indoctrination doctrine, comrade Billvionovich.... No thinking for your self, you must only think what we tell you. Your teacher knows best. So let me get this straight. If I was attending UC Berkley, and I submitted a Thesis paper entitled "Bush was Right" and I had a well documented, well thought out paper with all of the appropriate grammar I wouldn't get an automatic "F"? Even if it full of factual examples of Bush era policies that Obama is continuing? Pass me some of what you are smoking...... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. It depends on which pat your'e looking at. In some areas, they do. I was referring to the "most likely not to run over the general public with a tank" part..... Or maybe the "search and seizure" part.... Or maybe "political Prisoner of it's citizens" part.... Or maybe the "more than one child if you wish" part... Or maybe the "promotion based on who your family is in the Government" part..... Or maybe the "right to protest" part.... I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I know you would be willing to give up all of the above though for free medical....... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I don't know, I guess it all depends on their human rights track record..... But I guess according you, China tops the U.S. in that category..... And this here is why we shouldn't have a government run single payer program. The Medicare/ Medicaid programs and who knows who else have obviously burned there bridge with this doctor. I'm sorry to here it. Your only other choice, unless you can find $3500 laying around, is to take your referral to another oral surgeon. Since oral surgeons are specialists, the government won't pay without the proper paperwork trail, IE, a referral from the ER or your primary care provider. Yes, I have had the same run around a couple of times..... Good luck. I hope you can eat a steak again soon with out having to puree it first..... I was under the impression that most of the parts were made in Korea and Taiwan, then shipped to the US to Assemble. Still, putting together a whole new plant in Japan as opposed to upgrading a plant in the US.... I may have believed it in the 80's, but it's still hard to imagine now. Glad to hear it. The story I linked suggested that honda was moving everything back to the mother land. Like I said, it's just hard to believe that it's cheaper to manufacture something in Japan... Was reading in one of my Motorcycle Magazines the other day that Goldwing production was moved to Japan from Ohio, where they have been produced for over 30 years. Having been to Japan numerous times, all I can say is, what happened? How did it become more cost effective to build something in Japan and ship it to the states? The Cost of Living in Japan is way beyond anything in the states. They didn't move manufacturing to Mexico, Taiwan, or China, but Japan. I won't even got into the lost jobs.... I've said it before and I will say it again, we need to bring down the cost of doing buisness in America. Lindsey Graham demands more government spending
jgoose71 replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
While NC is a taker state, it's ranked number 27 on the list. I would call that below average if my math is correct. Even the state ranked 50 still took federal money. Don't hate because YOUR state reps can't lobby for crap.... Seriously, if they took federal funds, they are a taker state. I guess in reality it all depends on how much went to honest infrastructure and how much was pocket by politicians and corporations. As far as the port of Charleston is concerned, let the companies that ship through it pay for the upkeep. They have just as much riding on this as anyone else. So, should she be fired? It would depend if she lied or violated the rules under which she understood herself to be hired True. And even if not formal, written rules, some employers have low tolerance for employees' "acts of moral turpitude", even while off-duty. Not illogical that a school district - whose mission by definition is the care, molding and part-time in loco parentis custody of juveniles - might do that. I voted no. It's Canada. What would be considered an "act of moral turpitude" in Canada? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Obama to troops: Don't worry, I'll still get paid.
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Great talking point. But where exactly in the supporting documentation for this claim? You point to M11-13 but there's no mention there of the military or of overturning any previous OMB directives. Let me try to attempt to translate government speak so you know exactly what came from where. M-11-13 was the directive that said "get ready, we are shutting down." The Directive that said who did what in a shut down was OMB Circular A-11 found here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/circulars_a11_current_year_a11_toc Part 4 section 124 says this about a lack of funding: So the Department of Justice, who falls under the executive branch, decides who still works, who doesn't, who gets paid, and who don't. When the shut down was about to happen, the DOJ gave drafted a memo to give to the DOD telling them how to do business during the shutdown. The memo was leaked so the DOD could make ready. Here is the details given to the military via Army Times: http://www.armytimes.com/news/2011/03/military-contingency-plan-government-shutdown-031111w/ Now you can't say Obama didn't know what the DOJ was doing. Everyone knew what was going on. That's why H.R. 1297 was drafted. Here is the details to that: http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h1297/show Then to follow up, Obama's reaction to H.R. 1297: http://www.examiner.com/political-buzz-in-philadelphia/obama-vows-to-veto-stopgap-bill-extending-military-pay Now if anyone has any evidence to say that Obama wasn't using the military as a pawn, go ahead and post it. I've shown that I know how to use google, please feel free to do the same. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Wrong assumption yet again.. but I expect nothing more from you Jerry. The fact that many jurisdictions supporessed votes with outdated machines with very few of them in traditionally minority area's and done so by republicans in charge of those districts should be reprehensible to you. A company owner of Diebold promishing to deliever the votes for Bush.... Machines that could and were falsified.... Well done... win at any cost. Count the votes. Count ALL the votes... I know that is a simple concept but it seems that the Republican party of today has a problem with that. So should I take it to say that you were against all of the votes Obama supporters suppressed during the primaries when they threw out all the Hillary Votes? You were also against the Black Panthers sitting out in front of poles intimidating voters? Inquiring minds want to know.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Obama to troops: Don't worry, I'll still get paid.
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Instead of changing the topic, why don't you tell us if the TITLE of this thread is true or not true. I'll go ahead and answer the questions for him. Yes it's true. President Obama passed directive M-11-13 to the Office of Management and Budget saying that if the government shuts down, the military won't get paid. He did this knowing full well we are in 2 wars and then involved us in a third. We got personnel living under the poverty level fighting in wars in foreign lands wondering what there family is going to do to eat. No matter what lie he posts about Bachman, I really can't think of anything more despicable. I'm really glad to see that the government isn't shutting down though. Especially if the Democrats are using the military as pawns. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." One more time. It's the supreme courts job to determine the constitutionality of the law. This judge has obviously been put up by the unions to strike down the law. To do that, they would have to ignore the constitution. My question to you: are you ok with judges that are bought and paid for by groups/ political parties to ignore the constitution? Right, which is the whole point about the Wisconsin Supreme Court election being important. Duh. Which brings up the point that in order for this judge to declare the law un-constitutional, he would have to ignore the constitution. Duh. Which also brings up the question, why would you vote for a judge that would do that? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Huh? Again in English, please. I really have no idea what you are saying, but I'll take a stab. You think that the Judicial Branch is changed with enforcing laws. Every grade school student knows that the Executive Branch is charged with enforcing laws, and the Judicial is charged with interpreting them. Somehow, and this is where it gets confusing, your ignorance of the basic principles of government in the United States would be improved if I open a civics textbook. Interpret, enforce, what ever.... It's on the books and it's not there job to change. If they want to take it to the supreme court to challenge the constitutionality of the law, so be it. The Constitution doesn't have any special place for unions though.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
