Pakistan: Incompitent or incahoots with Bin Laden?
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
With Bin Laden found only a couple of hundred yards from the Pakistan Version of west point in a mansion surrounded by shacks, the question still remains, how much did they know? Hilliary Clinton seems to think that if they put their mind to it, they could have had him a while ago. Pakistan denies knowing anything. They also say they have rounded up more terrorists than anyone. We send them (correct me if I am wrong) $20 billion a year to prop up their government, primarily because of our concerns about safe guarding their nuclear weapons. Are we getting our moneys worth? Do you believe Pakistan when they say they are our allies? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42860415/ns/world_news-death_of_bin_laden/ "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Your right, their priorities are not ours. Theirs is killing Americans and ours is keeping them safe. That is kind of the point. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Are you kidding? It's absolutely delicious!!!! It reminds me of goat tongue dipped in cod liver oil.... yummy! "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

That's great. What about the Arabs and Muslims in the regions that are causing all the problems? How are they reacting in, oh, say, Pakistan? http://www.euronews.net/2011/05/03/red-faces-in-pakistan-and-fears-of-reprisals/ Oh, well, I guess there is still some room for improvement. Don't get me wrong. I think it's great that the Muslim community here in the U.S. has out backs. Most Muslims in the U.S. would report it if they saw something wrong. I got no beef there. I'm not disagreeing with anyone on that point. All the problems are coming out of the middle east though. Until we see people standing up in Palestine, Iran, Syria, Yemen and so forth, we are just pissing in the wind. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Here is the problem though. It can be summed up in this exchange.... Obama's administration is doing everything they said they wouldn't do. If there is one thing I have learned from the left is that hypocrisy is the greatest crime of all. Also in this article, Leon Paneta, the CIA chief is now also saying water boarding helped catch bin Laden. Just thought I would throw that out there. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42880435/ns/world_news-south_and_central_asia/?gt1=43001 Edited to add: Also following this logic out that means either Bush was right or Obama is now a war Criminal. Which is it? For the record, my vote is "Bush was right." I would hate to think of my president as a war criminal..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Didn't you call Rumsfeild a liar earlier? Why are you quoting him now? And King is the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. Are you saying he is out of the know? You can claim waterboarding didn't do a damn thing. That doesn't make it true either. If you read my links, when Eric Holder was asked his answer was "I don't know". I guess you know more than he does.... Since you know everything why don't you run for office? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Yeah, I missed that part, because it's not true, but please hang onto any shred of evidence that your desire for revenge torture has some deeper purpose. Here is one for ya.... http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/osama-bin-laden-dead-renews-debate-waterboarding-interrogation/story?id=13518686&page=1 http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/05/03/rep-king-waterboarded-ksm-gave-up-bin-ladens-courier/ Jury is still out...... Bush lacked the will to get Bin Laden and focused on an easy target. At the end of his two terms, Bin Laden was still alive and pulling the strings. Obama comes along and in just two years Bin Laden is dead! Seems that Obama is the man of will and determination. This shit should had been done ten years ago. Either that or Obama did a great job of piggy backing on someone else's work. I can walk up to a puzzle with only one piece left to finish it, put the piece in and say "done" also..... Did you miss the part earlier where the intelligence that lead to Bin Laden came from water boarding? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Difference being, neither your country or mine would have hid him. There would have been no reason to go get him. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Just saw the Chairman of the House Homeland security committee on the news. He was saying that the info that got us Bin Laden came from waterboarding. http://bungalowbillscw.blogspot.com/2011/05/peter-king-tweets-waterboarding-led-to.html www.newsmax.com/Headline/DonaldRumsfeld-gitmo-waterboarding-osamabinladen/2011/05/02/id/394820 Do you believe Rumsfeild? The standard numbers out there suggest KSM was water boarded 183 times and 2 others were strapped down with him. Was it a rampant practice? i doubt it. I think the effectiveness of waterboarding will be argued for years. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42863247/ns/world_news-death_of_bin_laden/ The one thing I think most people can agree on though is that the Justice Department's witch hunt of the CIA set back our intelligence gathering by years. I still say we could have caught OBL a lot sooner if it wasn't for Eric Holder or Obama's lack of will in reeling him in. That said, good job in having the intestinal fortitude to go into a country that was obviously hiding him and pull him out. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. You forgot covering his body in pig's blood to stain his soul so he never gets into heaven for his 72 virgins. Then follow up with no proper burial. G.W. Bush administration, Budgets, and the WOT
jgoose71 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
They never had a super-majority. And there's no question that the GOP used the fillibuster, or the threat thereof, quite effectively during that time. So you are saying that Democrats didn't hold 60 seats in the senate and 255 seats in the house while Obama was president? Those are filibuster proof numbers by most peoples calculations (and congresses calculations also). If they could have gotten their act together, they could have passed anything they wanted. And only someone with their head in the sand wouldn't be able to see that Democrats had control of the house and the senate for the last 4 1/2 years and had a super majority over everything for the last 2 1/2 years. Anything that they felt was completely wrong, they could have fixed in that time. Don't blame the republicans for the democrats fucking up their wet dream. 9 Americans killed when Afghan pilot opens fire at Kabul airport
jgoose71 replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
My neighbor is due back in the CONUS within the week. As soon as I can get it, I want his first hand account on whether we should stay or leave. Been there, can answer it easily. Time to go. Thank you for your service and your reply. Are you still in the military? Yes, and will probably wind up back in Afghanistan.... again. Sometimes we can be our own worse enemy.... Ding, ding, ding.... And this is why. The witch hunt of the CIA killed our most effective weapon in this war. No it's not drones. What has always made America the greatest military power on the planet is it's Communication, Intelligence, and Command and Control capabilities. Look no further than Libya to see what happens if you don't have those items in place. What a cluster fuck. The big green machine that is the Army is really good at fighting wars, but that is not what Afghanistan is now. Combine that with the corruption that is running amok in the Afghan government, and it's time to pull out, even though we know that we will have to go back in again in the near future. It's a tactical retreat to allow the snakes to come out of their holes again so we can whack them with our sticks..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. jgoose71 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
TARP is just a mark in time. The Stimulus and everything after that was all a part of Obama's grand plan. Trillions of dollars in deficit. The economy has passed into Obama's care a long time ago. Bush has been out of office for over 2 years. Time to move on from Bush. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Here is a fact for you. Everything that has happened after TARP belongs to Obama. That includes the unprecedented take off of the national deficit. Bush hasn't been in office for over 2 years now. Get over it. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Paine#Common_Sense_.281776.29 And this is why colleges won't let you use wikipedia as a source. If you have read the Agrarian Justice pamphlet, you would know that it's talking about Kings use of land ownership keeping power with him even after he dies. Thomas Paine wrote that he believed that a man's right to rule passes with him and that each following generation should earn it's place. He wrote this because of what the British royalty were doing to the world. This is also why our constitution was written the way it was. But leave it to you to allow wikipediia to tell you what to think. Thomas Paine also write this: "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. " And if that isn't enough for you, here is some more food for thought: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/t/thomas_paine.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Paine You have obviously never read "Common Sense". Since it is one of the most referred to documents by Glen Beck and he even wrote a book himself borrowing the name, I highly suggest you read it before your start claiming it was written by socialist. Just a suggestion before you make yourself look really stupid.... I would never suggest "Rules for Radicals" was written for republicans.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. So I here you saying how superior the Chinese way is compared to the U.S. What things from the Chinese homeland do you think would incorporate well into the U.S.?
