I have had the good fortune of having a Juki 1900 enter into my basement. A friend bought it from another rigger in FL who no longer needed it. It seems to be working after we assembled it. It appears to be the original 1900, not one of the revised versions and I do believe it has patterns by MEL installed as well as a NS plate and feet as spare parts. All good. I do have a couple questions though. I have figured out that it takes common DPx5 needles. But it did not come with any spare bobbins. The bobbin looks like an ordinary class 15 bobbin, common as dirt. Can I use those? Also, I have always just used 304 stitches with E thread for installing lines. Someone told me that B thread is often used. I can find no references to where B thread is used. What is the correct thread size for suspension line finger trap bar tacks? And who is a good source for parts like a spare bobbin case?

Yes, this is a very weird thing. Anti-vaxxers in my lifetime have not been the sort of people who are now refusing. These are very entitled people who have decided that even the very small risk of a vaccine is not for them or their children no matter what the potential cost to society of waning herd immunity. The current movement is made up mostly of people who have all their other shots, they have just been convinced that their is some conspiracy or another at play now.

I told my wife about it. In turn she told about years ago when her first husband came home one day with a product that claimed to be 50% H2O2 and instructions to take it orally starting with a few drops in a glass of water and increasing daily. It pretty much claimed to cure anything. At the back of the instructions it told how you too could get rich joining the team selling it. Yes, he is stupid.

We won't be able to stop the virus from spreading and travel restrictions won't do that. The real idea is to keep adding more and more pressure on people to get vaccinated so they don't fill the hospitals. The more things they can't do and the more enforcement there is the fewer holdouts there will be. I call it "make them an offer they can't refuse". We can not really make vaccination mandatory, but we can restrict the unvaccinated.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. But the time needed for even a quick charger means that multiple bays will be needed in locations that do this. However anyone who owns a parking spot at home will do almost all their charging overnight while they sleep. The only time a public charging spot will be needed is on extended trips.

The Covid pill is not a vaccine. It is an anti-viral treatment that has some level of effectiveness if taken early in the infection process. Transportation is a Federal responsibility. The policy has broad but obviously not universal support. It is much the same as the US government using the power it has. Some people get bent out of shape in their opposition to doing what is right. It is a little like the selective service that all males in the US have to register for in case they feel a need to go back to Vietnam. You can either knuckle down and follow the law or go to a free country like Canada. Pick your poison.

We haven't gone quite that far. But in Canada you can not fly commercially, take a train, or a ferry without being vaccinated. All air crew must be vaccinated, there are no exemptions. The DZ is closed right now, but unless things change by spring no one will get on our aircraft without proof of vaccination. (I note that the quote above is not your words, but an item you quoted) I believe that the Omicron wave is going to result in several much harsher rules on vaccination even in the US. But of course they will come too late to help much.

I thought your wife was an MD? She must be retired. Vaccine refusers are overwhelming the very stressed healthcare systems everywhere. And money can not solve the staffing issues. At least not in any effective time frame.

Yes, the usual expression is “gutting it”. But the effect will be that states will be able to ban it. And that will touch off something a little like “SHTF”.
