I know, it's only Dizzy Dot but I like it.

You mean all that was decided in a 16th century conference presided over by men of the cloth and not given by God herself in the earlier times? I'm confused, I thought all truths were contained in the original Holy Books? So many schisms, it's a wonder the church didn't splinter apart into different beliefs!

They likely all thought they would go into the history books as heroes like the "Boston tea party" rioters.

There may be a massless particle they would call a graviton. But you pretty much lose me with the term "massless particle". I like to read the Wikipedia entries for this stuff. It makes my head spin and reminds me of my younger days consuming various recreational street chemicals. Shit like this is why I don't laugh too hard at believers. There is room for just about anything to be the truth at some level.

Thank you Jerry, And thanks for your many likes. I just drank that whiskey and I now have the warm glow that lasts for half an hour or so. Bill, Wendy, and even Joe W. are fast catching up with me and will pass me soon enough!
-
Thank you. I couldn't have done it without all the little people helping along the way! I'm going to celebrate by drinking my last two ounces of Oban tonight.

At least we understand the rules. I guess gravity is god after all. They are both unforgiving.
-
I would have thought you had a pretty good handle on how gravity works by now.

Yeah, the "god particle" thing is pretty embarrassing to particle physicists. They don't call it that, it is a popular media thing. Much like calling the extinct Ivory Billed Woodpecker the "god bird". https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/the-lord-god-bird-is-gone-an-elegy-for-the-ivory-billed-woodpecker

I object. No one wants to forget American Christian history, we just don't want Christianity to dominate society. How can we forget the sexual abuse perpetrated by the Catholic Church for instance? Calling God a "sky puppet" is denigrating other's beliefs and is uncalled for.

Is God composed of elemental particles? And if not how can She manipulate them to form objects? Does Her Spirt have mass?

Good Lord! Your typo made me Google pantheism. I never heard of it before, but I may just have become a pantheist. All of creation is God, God is all of creation. I already believe that we are one with everything. It is just another way of expressing it. It means nothing at all yet everything at once. And one of the best things is that the church considers it heresy. Perfect! The only bad thing about it is that different people still found ways to argue about it as though is was a doctrine that needed to be formalized. It seems people never can stop arguing about theology.

In any case it is difficult to deny that the most common use of the word by far is to denigrate it. Outside of right wing objections to it barely exists. The term has become a rallying cry for those who want to forget America's history in the same way that the Japanese suppress the painful and embarrassing parts of theirs.

Holed up in north GA licking wounds and plotting with secret agents from the Vietnam War era.

Probably inspired Dylan, In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teachFearing not that I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach This reminds me of zealots storming school board meetings loudly proclaiming that they will not stand for having their children taught to hate themselves for being white. And also from the article you link to is this opinion: Wokeness, in my view, is a good thing, as I have often blogged (for example, here). Awareness of unfairness in the treatment of others not only makes the world a better place and us better people, it creates a culture in which the marginalized receive empathy instead of blame. Everyone has marginalized thoughts, feelings, and desires. Everyone has a history of managing unfair expectations and humiliations. A woke culture would be a pleasure to live in for everyone.
-
And it isn't. Who is pushing "wokeism"? No one. It only exists on the right.
-
"Wokeism" is nothing but a right wing boogeyman. It is a meaningless FOX news trope.

Well, she would need to be nominated first. She is not going to go anywhere as an independent. And I'm fairly certain she is never going to be popular enough to win a primary unless she makes drastic changes to her positions and image. But I'm sure you are looking for something more...... uplifting........ ?

That's the sort of ticket I could see state legislatures refusing to support despite the vote.
-
I am not particularly worried about a return of Trump. He is in poor health and too old at this point. However I do see a danger in the possibility of R held states refusing to return D electors. The stage is being set for that now. If it does happen there is at least some danger of the nation splintering leading to the military getting involved.

It is not about what theocracy means to him. It is about what the word means to me. He clearly is siding with the people who feel that the Biden administration needs to be replaced by force if necessary.
-
Correct. I was pointing out that Ron's ideas are counter to what America has traditionally stood for. And I'm not really sure that fundamentalist is the best description of his beliefs. No, I care little about what theocratic beliefs anyone holds. I only care about behaviors. Ron is advocating overthrowing the US government because he would prefer a different one. I didn't say you did. I said you would like everyone to stop picking on your poor suppressed co-religionists. Ron is the one who seems to be pining for a theocracy.

Now see here, I paid for an argument and all you are giving me is disagreement!

You had the advantage of easy access to reliable information. And besides, some people are just plain contrarians.

Every time he posts a new topic I hope that this will be the one that gets no replies. I've been disappointed every single time. While he sits back and laughs at those thinking that they are clever in calling out the bullshit and plots the next stage of his self amusement.
