Yeah I couldn't believe they could pull such ridiculous things out of there ass and present them as fact, in order to send someone to jail. Man, that really upsets me. Someone, somewhere, knowingly made up information with the intention of it being used in court. This person was probably the DA. Moral of story: Run faster! -
Tips On Packing A Fairly New Canopy
LongWayToFall replied to skycamefalling's topic in Gear and Rigging
I also did some research on the psycho pack, and decided to stay with pro packing. Uncocking of the pilot chute is a real problem, be careful! Something you can try is making the small S fold (the one closest to the lines) while the canopy is already in the bag. Controlling fabric is a pain in the ass, I am still trying new things to make it easier. Use those knees and grasp the entire side of the canopy as you push it into the bag, this helps keep the folds from moving. Talk to some packers at the DZ, everyone has a different style, just gotta find out what works for you! Good luck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JiAegc8EOw -
It is VERY good!!!! When you buy the bacon, try to buy the longest strips possible for the wrap, mine were short and I had way too much filling, and it was a challenge to get it rolled properly. I put some onions and peppers inside mine, not bad. Make sure you use some bbq sauce on the inside, otherwise there is so much meat that it starts lacking the spice aspect that the bbq brings. I wouldn't put the bbq sauce on the outside until the very end of the cook, that sugar is prone to burning. I love smoking food! For your first time, this isn't a bad recipe, whole pork shoulders are also excellent. The high fat content prevents the meat from being burned, because the extra heat goes into breaking down the fat rather than drying/burning the meat. A couple smoking tips I have discovered: 1. Use a large pan under your bbq item, and put some hot water into it. It helps regulate the temp just like the fat, it will suck energy by boiling rather than letting the temp get too high. 2 Dry wood chips work just fine too, you don't have to soak them. Larger pieces are preferred over small chips. Watch out for temps increasing after adding the chips, they will start to burn and add heat. If they are soaked make sure they are dried off just before you add them, the water can put out some of the coals if they are dripping. 3. lots of times the thermometer on the bbq itself can really suck, thing about adding another (I just take the digital meat thermometer used for checking meat temps, and put it inside next to the meat. It has a long metal wire and gets good readings at the same level as the food, which is where you want it) 4. You can add a very large portion of unburned coals into the bottom of the fire box, and put 20 or so lit coals on top of them. The unlit ones start slowly, and helps keep an even temp over very long time periods. I always do this method if I am smoking overnight. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. check out these guys, they have a whole ton of recipes and the main guy has a great voice haha. http://www.youtube.com/show/bbqpitboys?pl=11AABC12C8FF1CA8

The SIM is a good reference for info, especially the recommended jump numbers for different activities. You are going to need permission from the land owner of the area you intend to land. Be sure the balloon pilot knows what kind of altitude you need, they normally don't go very high. There are some FAA regs regarding notification prior to parachute jumps, depending on the airspace class, be sure you and the pilot are aware of these. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people just can't be any more retarded. It just so happens that these are the same people that will put you in jail. He had previously made more than one hundred BASE ("Base, Antenna, Structure, Equipment") The very term "BASE," used by Vincent to describe these jump activities to defendant and others, includes a reference to the use of an antenna, for radio communication. -
FWIW, flutter problems can be made much worse if there is any slop in the hinges or control mechanism. Seems like the faster you go, the more solid and properly aligned everything needs to be. Free plane? Bad ass. Least it is good for 1 jump at the minimum...........

I used to smoke it everyday for a few years, but quit for a long time. Now, I am open to the idea, but mostly I just get paranoid and don't like it much. If the situation is right I have no problem though.

Man that is excellent

Grandma shoulda made good on your promise, you would probably have a higher survival rate!! haha

Gas turbine=Expensive!!!!!!!!!!! 200mph can be had for a fraction with electric......... Still hauling major balls

It just depends. I have seen a number of different bridle configurations, main and reserve flap configurations, etc. Lots of times people don't trust just some random person with touching their gear. If someone asks though, I'm down to check em. I caught a misrouted chest strap the other day, just a minute or 2 before exit. Scary.

And we only usually jump at 10k.................

Look for the water pump. It will have coolant lines going to it. It is very possible that the large cooling far is attached directly to the water pump. If this is driven by the timing belt, then you should be VERY careful driving the car. It is possible the pump is not circulating the very hot coolant past the sensor, prohibiting you from knowing the real engine temp. Personally, I would remove the AC pump and switch to a small belt, or find a replacement pump and install a regular belt. Lots of times the idler pulley is different on AC and non AC models, hence you cannot just remove the AC unit and use the other belt. Check it out though, see what you can do!

How high do you go up after the parachute opens?

I voted exactly as you did. I heard 19 was a no go, bummer. I haven't checked on the others.

Cool!

It doesn't take credibility to answer a question. You are a troll. You haven't bought 2 vigils with 80 jumps. You aren't jumping with a 1.3 wing loading at 80 jumps.

free online Video/Training material
LongWayToFall replied to kgp4death's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not free, but the DVD "cutaway" has lots of scenarios which are educational. If you need help packing, there are several free online videos. -
Ok, let me ask simple questions, and you can deliver simple answers. The units just wouldn't turn on one day? The screen remained blank when you pushed the button to start it? Or did they power up, but failed one of the 3 tests? After they did something erroneous, did you contact the manufacturer? (I doubt this) You never answered my original question about weather these were vigil 1s or vigil 2s.

Nobody cares about your opinion right now, it has already been stated, and has nothing to back it up. Everyone is asking you to provide greater detail regarding why the product failed to work. Tell us exactly what you were doing when the product failed to work, how did it fail, and what was the solution to your problem?? It sounds like you did not return it to the manufacturer. This means that either the problem was not serious and you were pushing the button wrong, or it was serious, but you decided to continue jumping the product even though it was defective. 2 minutes of time to explain your situation will eliminate much time spent by several people, who are simply rewording the same exact question, because you either do not understand the question or have a reason why you will not answer it. Personally, I believe you are either lying about your problem or it was so minor that it does not justify your opinion, and you hope that people will trust your statement simply on blind faith. DO NOT SLANDER A RESPECTABLE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT LEGITIMATE FACTS

Well, I picture it more as the pilot chute being a stage, the canopy with slider up as a stage, and the canopy with the slider down as the final stage. Lots of things help with the stages. Also, I think staging has TONS to do with the speed of the opening. Think about spacecraft recovery. The reason they stage the opening is for a survivable recovery. A 2 stage slider down base jump is much different than a 3 stage slider up jump.... Of course this is mostly a terminology debate......

Saying that your product did not work, is not opinion.
