Alternative Licensing Options / Pressure Problems
BIGUN replied to jajunk's topic in Safety and Training
That's called "Experience." That's called, "Wisdom." Help me understand again why you wouldn't consider the corrective surgery by a Doctor who's done it successfully for "Pro Competitive Skydivers" already, when most Doctors don't even know how to address issues specific to skydiving? Not enough piercings or tatts for ya? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
i have a job-interview - and out of all places..
BIGUN replied to virgin-burner's topic in The Bonfire
You're definitely good for the job. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
Ya think THAT's something...you should see the next pic in the series where she's speaking into the 'mike'! What she was told was, "The bear's name is Mike and she should go speak to him." What she heard was, "The bear's got a really big dick." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

She's hard of hearing and is a graduate of Mercer University.... What she was told was, "Don't poke the bear." What she heard was, "Go stroke the bear." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I voted No, But now that you tell me this and we've lost our discussion thread, I may have to reconsider just to read her missives!!! Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

6'6" 240-250# While there are numerous good suit manufacturers out there, the two I know most about are Tonysuits and Flitesuits. Flitesuits developed an "Anvil" suit when one of their staff who was 6' 200-220 lbs and an AFF/I that needed a greater range of fall rate. What they came up with was a 10" wing between the elbow and waist with swoop cords. That particular suit gave me a belly fall range from 86-136MPH. I found that while flying in the mantis position.... I didn't even need the swoop cords, I could just dig in my elbows and the wings would tighten enough to slow down. While at Skyfest in 2007, I was yakking with Tony at Tonysuits about not having bought a suit from him in awhile and told him about what Flitesuits had developed and he told me he had developed something similar; except he used an 8" wing and placed ZP inside the wing. He took my measurements and built me a suit. I found with Tony's suit that I could not slow down as much, but when falling with fellow Anvils in a formation dive could turn a bit snappier and was not as head-high as with the Flitesuit. Both suits are in my locker and I love them both equally. I would alternate suits depending on the dive... using the Flitesuit when I was working with students and the Tonysuit for formation dives. Hope that helps. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

When Loved Ones Aren't Thrilled with You Skydiving.
BIGUN replied to Namowal's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you're in your forties, my suspicion is your Dad is worried about you... but, he's also worried about him. How much family support does he have as he gets older? Is this concern something you should consider addressing with him? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
Yeah, there's the rub. When I got my wings, it was for freefall jumps. Same with 100 jumps for the C, 200 jumps for the D. To this day I log static line jumps, but I don't count them. Ain't it nice to know how to PLF properly and quickly? All those peeps that want to drop the scary night jumps and water training for the D license? They should be glad we don't make them jump a damn 28' flat or MC1-1. That would thin the herd pretty quickly. Yup. I just thanked Airborne school for the training and moved on... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Static line or free fall? I tried to check the USPA website to see if it still required FF jumps or included S/L jumps for the wings award and licenses. Unfortunately it appears down right now. Military S/L Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

It is a 1000 jump award...I have 1000 jumps, so I earn it. Why does it matter what license I have? Is like requiring a drivers license to get a cooking diploma. Ok, it is their rule, all I'm saying is stupid. Screw them. What license I need to have an opinion? And you don't know me, you piss off and don't call me names. From what I understand it's a requirement to have earned the appropriate license AND made 1000 freefall parachute jumps in order to receive the Gold Wing award. So it's really more like having to have a drivers license in order to get a commercial operator ticket. Gold Wing award is a recognition of achievement in the sport, it shows dedication toward personal advancement which is an all encompassing never ending task...it's really not just badge you get for elevator rides. SIUCC ...and as far as calling names, in what context & just who were you referring to with the 'idiots' comment? Funny, my GW certificate says "for completion of 1,000 freefall skydives in compliance with the requirements of the United States Parachute Association". As far as I know there's no requirement to hold a D license to complete 1,000 freefall skydives. I get your point but the idea of holding a particular license to be recognized for reaching a jump number milestone seems a little silly. Mine say "...in accordance with the Basic Safety Requirements of the USPA." Another example is, when I was approaching my first thousand, I had a considerable number of military jumps and wondered why I couldn't put in for the Gold Wings based on the criteria established (intentional exit...) . Jim Crouch (also former Airborne) explained the BSR's stated the minimum opening altitudes and that was that. Don't have to agree, disagree or even understand... Them were the rules and I went on to get them the USPA "way." Seemed a little silly and the rules have changed since then, but that's good for the now former Airborne guys. OK. So most of you guys know my side on the pot issue as a recreational activity... But, we're talking medicinal use here . However, I also have a side where Big Brother throwing it's weight around in spite of the 10th Amendment causes me concern. First, I don't understand why my friends across the aisle aren't raising an uproar with Obama's new crusade against the medical marijuana community, and 2) here's a little tactic for California. Rent State Property to all the Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. Then when the Feds show up... we might have a little jurisdictional issue (Lawrocket?) How cool would that be? Nobody's going to fall for "getting someone else to..." Give the universal, I'm a homosexual sign... well some on here would, but you better have jump tickets paid for and waiting for them at their DZ... Sheesh. How dumb did Triangle make you think we were??!?! Yeah, Yeah, I know... "NO!! It's not like that. I wouldn't do that to you guys!!! Reserves and manufacturers' MSW - & reserve selector
BIGUN replied to degeneration's topic in Gear and Rigging
There can be ramifications far exceeding the legal realm. Before making a buy decision, how about making a test jump decision. Ya know Billvon's Downsizing checklist ain't just for main canopies. Don't get hurt under a reserve, man. It's your last chance. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -

Should Candidates Describe Themselves as Pro-Gun?
BIGUN replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Ya know, over the past 35 years of voting, a candidates position on guns, gays, abortion, religious beliefs, etc. have all been a flag that blows in the direction of the strongest wind during that particular election. In this one, I care about three things, 1) A Balanced Budget Amendment (cause all the talk and previous BB Acts ain't meant for naught), 2) Making America financially strong again through debt, deficit reduction (see number 1), and 3) Made in the USA (jobs) and I ain't talking about no stimulus package for the next election; I'm talking about a business plan for the next generation. Do You Support Assassination or "Targeted Killing?"
BIGUN replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I cannot answer the poll as the question uses "Assassination" and "Targeted Killing" as synonyms; when they are not, with only a "Yes" or "No" response. There is also Executive Order 12333 Section 2.11 Prohibition on Assassination. "No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in or conspire to engage in assassination." HOWEVER: Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
While I realize you're asking for something near Skydive Dallas... you can check out Oklahoma Skydiving Center in Cushing, OK or Skydive Airtight... just north of Tulsa. Both can help with Big Boy (Anvil) training. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
