  1. I'll be trying to get there in time for at least one jump, but I haven't tried the drive out there from midtown at rush hour yet so it will probably be tight. Killing threads since 2004.
  2. Pretty freaky, huh? I was planning an event once that involved the First Lady. It didn't occur to me when I called the number give to me that it would be The White House operator answering. The only thing freakier was looking down at my caller ID and seeing WHITE, THE HOUSE flash up on the screen when my phone was ringing. Took a second before I realized who was calling! 3. Mmm...hot nuts from the street vendors in NYC! Damn...here's another one for Vallerina's food thread. Killing threads since 2004.
  4. DAMN! Now you have me thinking about all of this tasty food that I can't get right now!!! For dessert... Graeter's Ice Cream in Cincinnati. www.graeters.com Mmmmm...Peanut butter chocolate chunk That stuff is just wrong it tastes so good. If you watch Oprah you might remember that she featured this ice cream a summer or two ago. A friend that worked there told me that after she gave out samples on her show they had to hire 3 extra people at that store to handle mail orders alone. It's expensive to order (about $10 a pint) but worth every penny once in a while. Killing threads since 2004.
  5. And another I just experience again for the first time in about 10 years... The Varsity in Atlanta It's as much about the experience as it is about the food here. Killing threads since 2004.
  6. That's right, I forgot about the one in Chicago. Down on N. Halstead! I'm in Chicago on business for a weekend each winter and I always make sure to swing by and get my fix. I don't deny that they can be pretty gross. But I love 'em! Killing threads since 2004.
  7. La Bamba - Burritos as Big as Your Head! It's a chain of fast food mexican restaurants, mainly in college towns. When I lived in Cincinnati for college we would go a few times a week. There wasn't one in Cincinnati, but if you left town on any highway you would hit one within 1.5 hours. Columbus and Oxford Ohio and Lexington and Louisville KY. Sadly I think Oxford and Lexington are now closed. They have some tasty burritos, and the best thing about them was that they used Chihuahua cheese. Mmmm...delicious! Their claim to fame is the big burritos (literally as big as your head) but also that they are open until after the bars close. Go around lunch or dinner time and you wonder how they stay in business. Show up at 4 in the morning and their lines are out the door. Anyone else had La Bambas? Killing threads since 2004.
  8. About 3 months ago I quit my dream job and left the city I loved because I decided I was young and wanted to do something to help others and also because I just wanted to live a little more before I "grew up." Accepted a volunteer position with AmeriCorps in the Florida Keys. Funding for said position fell through. Now I'm living with family in Atlanta while looking for another AmeriCorps position. But, I started skydiving in the meantime and am still trying to decide what is next. I would still love to volunteer, but it sure would be tough to skydive if I was working fulltime for no money! We'll see! Killing threads since 2004.
  9. Huh? Edit: forget it. Ha ha! Killing threads since 2004.
  10. HA! Very funny!!! (and it didn't have anything to do with posting bras, panties, weiners or hole punchers!) Killing threads since 2004.
  11. This was my favorite picture from when the QM2 was in NYC. Not sure of the origin of the photo, but it was taken as the QM2 was passing 42nd Street. Killing threads since 2004.
  12. Woo hoo!!! Sorry to hear the beach jumps fell through, but glad to know ya'll will be heading up in this direction. j. Killing threads since 2004.
  13. Not sure what line you commute on, but in the 3 or 4 months before I left (I moved in July) my A/C train stopped at 125th every morning. Only for about 2 minutes, but a cop would walk up and take a look into each car. That happened for a few months at least. j. Killing threads since 2004.
  14. Dang Lee. I don't know how much I like you helping plan the Farm schedule. Way to make what sounds like it will be the best weekend yet when I'm in a damn wedding in Louisiana!!! And I've always wanted to learn how to play Hold 'em. Guess I'll have to lose my money somewhere else to start with! j. Killing threads since 2004.
  15. Sounds kind of stupid considering what you have tried, but ever taken something like NyQuil? I've got a friend that could take any pain killer or sleeping pill on the market and not even yawn, but after a dose of NyQuil she is out cold. -j. Killing threads since 2004.
  16. Hate to just join the crowd but I think Austrailia would be it for me too. I've never really been drawn to travel abroad, but I've always had an interest in visiting there. I've never known someone that visited that didn't love it or an Australian that wasn't an amazing person. Those accents don't hurt either... j. Killing threads since 2004.
  17. I don't know if I could pick a best, but when I don't think there is any show that has ever made me laugh as often as Cheers has. Norm is just the man. I still find myself doing a search for "Norm quotes" once in a while just to sit there and read. My favorite of all time: "It's a dog eat dog world, and I'm wearing milkbone underwear" or something like that. Bwahahaha! j. Killing threads since 2004.
  18. That's it!!! In similar discussions I've brought up that show and people have thought I was crazy. I'm glad you knew what I was talking about as I was beginning to think I had imagined the way too many times that I watched it. j. Killing threads since 2004.
  19. I heard people say that before and I told them they were full of it. Then I moved to NYC and after a while found myself enjoying the show. It was amazing how being able to relate changed my perception. Killing threads since 2004.
  20. What was that show with Jim J. Bullock on in the mid-80s. There was a large breasted blond that the joked about wearing a sweater backwards making the owner look like a hunchback. Quite possibly the worst show I have ever seen. Killing threads since 2004.
  21. JUST WAIT until you see this ship. I went out into NY Harbor in my kayak as it was pulling in a few months ago and it was quite possibly the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. There I was with my head no more than 3 feet off the water looking damn near straight up just to see it even though I was (per the USCG) 150 yards away. An amazing experience security wise too. Even after filing a float plan and radio contact with the Coast Guard, and while maintaining the security boundries, we received several visits from small boats with very large guns on them. Let's just say we didn't have any problem when they asked us to back up a bit more than the laid out secure areas. Remind me never to mess with them!!! j. Killing threads since 2004.
  22. Uh...it says that I am: Squirrel Furry Bushkisser It doesn't seem to be random either. I typed in my name a few times and it came back with the same answer each time! j. Killing threads since 2004.
  23. Wow. Best to the kid, and let's just hope that his fellow jail mates find out why he is there. Messing with kids doesn't make many friends. Killing threads since 2004.
  24. Skydive the Farm (Cedartown, GA) is $15. Even cheaper during their monthly boogie. Check out the website. Killing threads since 2004.
