  1. Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone!!! I'll be honest that the thought of many of those costumes made me shudder (remember...it was my parents that were looking). I believe the thought of my dad as Tom Cruise in Risky Business will haunt me for the rest of my life. Thanks Sheenster!!! I gave them all of the suggestions, and thank goodness I'll be in Thomaston by the time they get dressed! Killing threads since 2004.
  2. Not quite sure where exactly he will be. Lives near Peachtree City but might be working much closer to midtown where I'll be leaving from. Thanks for the thought - I'll keep it in mind! Killing threads since 2004.
  3. Last time I tailgated every other group had a portable DirecTV setup so the chumps w/out tickets could watch the game. Gotta be someone that could bring one with them! Killing threads since 2004.
  4. Cheech - so how was that jump on Sunday? Ann Marie and I were talking about how cold our own feet (in shoes and socks) were and then we looked back and realized you didn't have any freakin' shoes on. Killing threads since 2004.
  5. Yup, Stephen indeed. Said he was interested in heading up there so hopefully he'll be joining us. It was great to meet him this weekend, and hopefully he'll be a regular at The Farm too. Great guy and he was packing the hell out of Whitley's tandems all weekend long. Killing threads since 2004.

  7. If he decides to come I'm going to pick up a guy that I met this weekend at the Farm. He came up with douwanto and the Tallahassee crew. He hasn't started jumping (yet) but has started packing and was interested in coming up for the weekend. Killing threads since 2004.
  8. Probably leaving work around 5pm to drive an hour south to pick another person up and then heading up there, so conservatively between 10 and 11pm. Killing threads since 2004.

  10. I was just asked by my folks to suggest possible costume options for an 80's theme Halloween party. So what do you think? Killing threads since 2004.
  11. It's been wild. I'm the oldest, so when I left town my siblings ranged from a sophomore in high school down to a 6th grader. The 6th grader is now a senior in college and the week after I got home we celebrated her 21st birthday. Some of it has taken some getting used to! Getting to know my parents again has been the best thing. They are totally new people (to me) now that everyone is grown. It's amazing to see how they've grown together again. All my life I said that as soon as I got away from Atlanta I would never go back, but now that I've had the chance to feel what it is like to live around family I just don't know about that! 12. My answer doesn't quite fit into the poll. I went to college and for the last 5 years lived in NYC getting started in a career that I absolutely loved. I worked upwards of 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week but loved every second of it. A few months ago though I realized that while I loved everything I was doing and where I was living I wasn't quite ready to settle down yet and wanted to live a little. I accpeted an AmeriCorps (like PeaceCorps but domestic for those that don't know) position in the Florida Keys where I would be working with high school kids in an environmental study program that would have me diving with them. Heaven! I chose the Keys because when I was done with a year of volunteering I wanted to find a job that would do nothing more than pay for scuba diving. Well, the funding for the position fell through. My two week visit with my family in Atlanta has turned into a little under 3 months so far. I haven't been anywhere near family since I left right after high school and now I'm having an amazing time getting to know them all again, this time as an adult. Now here I am never having made it to Florida, never found that AmeriCorps position, not once been in the water scuba diving since I moved, and living with my family again (which I said I would never do). The funny thing is that I am loving the hell out of my life right now. The part I hadn't mentioned yet was that I went with my dad and brother randomly one Saturday shortly after I arrived to make a tandem skydive. I am now working every temp job I can find in order to pay for skydiving. Nothing went according to plan, but I am the happiest I have ever been and loving every second of it. I have no idea what is next, but I'm taking it one step at a time and just going with the flow! Edited to add: And, uh, if you know of any jobs available in the Atlanta area, let me know!!! 13. Next weekend? Double check your dates. This weekend (9/10) everything is normal. Next weekend (16/17) last I heard is that the Farm would be closed and everyone is heading up to the Mountain Boogie. The following weekend (23/24) will be a big weekend. Would suck to show up on the off week! Killing threads since 2004.
  14. I'm in Marietta (NW of Atlanta). It would be a fun ride, but I'm going to stick to driving myself so I only have to worry about my own time frame. Thanks for the offer though! Killing threads since 2004.
  15. I'll be driving my car up there from Marietta, but I told Robbie to let me know the price for sleeping/showering if you have a slot left. One week left on my current temp job and after that I'm unemployed until someone else hires me for a while, so in the interest of cash flow I'll most likely be in my tent. On that note - I mentioned to Brandy last weekend that I always have an extra tent in my trunk if anyone ever needs to borrow it. Killing threads since 2004.
  16. It's awesome to hear that you are alright. Sounds like you could easily be in much worse shape than you are. So now when someone wakes up with a hangover and says they feel like they've been hit by a truck you'll actually know what they mean! Are you going to take it easy this weekend or still coming up to the Farm? I just confirmed my ability to join you all for the mountain boogie, so either way, see you either this weekend or next. 17. I aggree with AggieDave. I really enjoyed the time I spent on jury duty a couple years ago. With the kind of hours I was working at the time it almost felt like a bit of a vacation, during which I learned a few things about the court system in NYC. It was also a case that seemed obviously guilty upon initial description and obviously innocent by the end. It was really kind of a comedy show. The asst. DA on the case was a complete moron. After we came to the decision pretty much everyone on the jury agreed that if we were ever to do something to end us up on court we would all want him to be on our case! Killing threads since 2004.
  18. Hey Heidi - do you know if Hans has already left or is he still in town? Tried calling the cell phone earlier but was getting some screwy "all services busy, try again later" message. I was planning on trying again a bit later this evening. jason. Killing threads since 2004.
  19. Ha! Hey Jay. I think we covered that one in the other Mountain Boogie thread. Shrek's response: Killing threads since 2004.
  20. I'm sure plenty of you down in Florida have considered this after the last few months... Killing threads since 2004.
  21. One summer in college we drove between Cincinnati and North Carolina a pile of times, and I always insisted on stopping at the Flying J Travel Plaza to get gas and eat. All my life people have shortened my name to just J, and for some reason I thought that place was the coolest! Nobody ever called me Flying J, but they joked about it a lot so when I logged on here I thought it would be somewhat fitting. Killing threads since 2004.

    Do You Speed?

That's the way I used to feel driving out of NYC and onto Rt. 17 in NJ. Historically I've been a very fast driver. I got two tickets while in high school and then none until this summer. I told myself a few years back though that I knew how much I deserved a ticket so I would have no right to be upset the day I get nailed. I was kind of proud of myself that I stuck to that and really didn't get upset when I did get pulled over in August. However, having to pay for that ticket caused me to delay my start date of AFF, and now that money is being counted just as much in jump tickets as it is in cash I'm being a bit more careful! Would hate to miss a weekend at the DZ because of paying for $200 of stupidity! Killing threads since 2004.
  23. I'll agree with you there. On a two lane road if the left lane isn't filled with people trying to go faster than me I'll drive on the left rather than sitting behind a big truck that doesn't allow me to see anything coming up. I am ultra-aware of anyone coming up behind me that might want to pass though. Ahh...we could all post what we think, but in the end we all know that we are the only sane person, and the only one doing the right thing when we are behind the wheel! Killing threads since 2004.
  24. Ok, and I also don't understand people getting in the HOV lane only to go slower than the rest of the traffic. I mean, come on! Why bother unless you are going to drive faster! Killing threads since 2004.
