Micky wouldn't let Santa skydive, so he headed over to Georiga to jump at The Farm. Check out the Farm's homepage at www.skydivethefarm.com. Killing threads since 2004.

FlyingJ replied to pyke's topic in Events & Places to Jump
You know, last night when I went to the website I thought something looked a bit strange on the homepage but I clicked past it so quickly I didn't see what it was. That's priceless!!! Killing threads since 2004. -

I've been plagued by this as well both scuba and skydiving. Like several others have said, the combo of sudafed and afrin generally do the trick for me in both sports. Thankfully for me it's either really bad or nothing. On a really bad day I can feel a noticable difference in pressure on the ride from the dz to the runway which is a 120ft rise. I always know to bail on the jump and the rest of the weekend if I feel that pressure. Same thing w/ scuba. I can tell by the time I've descended 10 or 15ft whether or not I'm going to make it. I've had to call several dives, but have gotten in the habit of diving w/ buddy groups of 3 or more so that if I call a dive close to the surface I'm the only one that loses out. Like others have said, be careful w/ the Afrin though. I know a couple people that started using it way too often and had problems quitting. Killing threads since 2004.

Not a whole lot of action in the forums...how 'bout the pub? Killing threads since 2004.

Another personal setting question... When I switch "mark threads I posted to" to YES and save changes it automatically reverts back to NO. Is that option not available to me, or is something funky? Thanks!!! Killing threads since 2004.

That's one of the most awesome commercials I've ever seen! Killing threads since 2004.

Cool - Hopefully you guys will be able to get even more jumps in as we did a couple Friday's ago. Well, my clumsy ass ended up back at the doctor today and I'm now outfitted in a nice walking cast for the next month, so I won't be jumping. Definitely planning on coming to party at the Holiday boogie though. Killing threads since 2004. -
I've had a bunch of little problems lately because of a piece of equipment that went bad and Bellsouth customer service has been amazing - found the problem and even fixed it by sending new and improved equipment that I really should have had to pay for. Of course...that has nothing to do with your reason for posting this thread...back to catching up on the last two weeks... Killing threads since 2004.

When I find myself in that situation I usually take some NyQuil or something similar (lightweight, over the counter kind of stuff). Best wishes on your interview! Killing threads since 2004.

Whoa...I might need to take another painkiller just to help scatter my brain enough to forget that mental picture before going to bed! Killing threads since 2004.

Uh, the address? Edited: whoa...whatever would I have done if I hadn't found out that little tidbit of information! Killing threads since 2004.

She looks just like a little puppy one of my college roommates brought home one night. The thing ran around like crazy for so long that eventually it fell asleep. My roommate sat down on the couch rather roughly and it actually bounced the puppy right off and onto the floor. The thing didn't even flinch. For a little while we were actually scared it was dead! Edited to add: I've always wanted a dog so that I could name it Django (after the jazz musician). Always thought that would be a good original dog name. Damned allergies! Killing threads since 2004.

Very cool. That's one thing I'm most excited about. My scuba gear has only gotten wet once since I moved here about 5 months ago, so I'm dying to get back under the water! Killing threads since 2004.

My guess is that there are few smells more foul than that of burnt hair. The gas grill wouldn't start tonight so I decided to light it w/ one of those long lighter things. Guess I didn't wait quite long enough for the gas to dissipate before trying again because it lit in a freakin' fireball! I now have no hair up to about halfway up my arm. When it happened I actually jumped back w/ all my weight on the foot that I just injured, so because of that pain I didn't even notice my arm. After getting settled on the couch with some ice on my foot I couldn't figured out what that horrid smell was, and then I realized it was my arm! Ugh...simply awful. Brings back some bad memories from HS Chemistry class when a classmate got a little too close to the ole' bunson burner. Killing threads since 2004.

Wow, that's awesome Tweak. Just sent you a PM to ask some questions. Anvil...so did you go by JACKASS back then too? Is that who I should ask if they remember? Killing threads since 2004.

Good to hear. Nope - definitely not looking for anything beachfront, etc. It's gonna be all about keeping things cheap. The cheaper the place, the better the chance of being able to make at least a few jumps per month! Killing threads since 2004.

Very cool, and perfect timing! Just found out I'll be moving and in my new position will be traveling quite a bit. This will make it so much easier seeing where I can jump while on the road!!! Thanks! Killing threads since 2004.

Hey Lee - I won't be at The Farm this weekend but if you guys come into Atlanta for the Cheesecake Factory give me a call and let me know. I'll meet you there. Just got confirmation that I'm moving to Panama City as of the New Year for the AmeriCorps position I was hoping to get. I'm already looking forward to meeting up w/ you guys for a trip up to The Farm once in a while. Killing threads since 2004. -
I just found out that I was chosen for an AmeriCorps volunteer position with Florida State Parks and will be based in Panama City. I start on Jan. 3rd and will probably need to move in shortly after Christmas. So...who's from Panama City or knows the area, etc.??? I'll be living on a very modest housing stipend so of utmost importance will be finding an affordable place to live. Over the winter I'll be there for 3 or so weeks per month, but come spring I'll be off working/camping in the various parks throughout Florida for upwards of two or three weeks per month, so I'm certainly not looking for anything special. Just a place to call home a couple weeks a month. I literally just had this confirmed to me a few minutes ago so I've done no research yet, but hints as to what neighborhoods to look in, etc. would be a really great headstart as I'm going to have to act quickly. After I do the basic things like find a place to live I'll get to the important stuff like finding out who jumps where around there! Thanks in advance for the advice!!! Killing threads since 2004.

And the winner of the auction is... http://goldenpalaceevents.com/other/grilledmary01.php Mystifying Image Of Virgin Mary On Grilled Cheese Sandwich Sold To GoldenPalace.com GoldenPalace.com Wins eBay Auction For One-of-a-Kind Religious Icon ST. JOHNS, ANTIGUA, NOVEMBER 22, 2004 – In a perfect example of Americana pop culture phenomenon, a grilled cheese sandwich that bears the image of the Virgin Mary has been sold on eBay to Internet casino GoldenPalace.com for $28,000 USD. Seller Diana Duyser made the sandwich ten years ago, and after taking one bite out of it, noticed the Virgin Mary's face staring back at her. She put the sandwich in a clear plastic box with cotton balls and kept it on her night stand. Duyser, 52, believes the sandwich has brought her luck over the years and is truly convinced of its divinity. 'I would like all people to know that I do believe that this is the Virgin Mary Mother of God,' says Duyser, a work-from-home jewelry designer. 'That is my solemn belief. People ask me if I have had blessings since she has been in my home. I do feel I have, I have won $70,000 on different occasions at the casino near my house.' Duyser has received widespread media attention and maintains that her good luck is attributed to the iconic image in the bread. The paranormal nature of the sandwich is mainly due to the fact that millions of people are able to see the same holy icon on the bread, not to mention that a ten-year-old sandwich has remained remarkably free of mold. Oddly, no special care has been taken to preserve the sandwich. Duyser claims that she has placed the sandwich in a simple plastic case, not 'a special one that seals out air or potential mold or bacteria.' Given Duyser's success at her local casino, it is fitting that a casino ended up with the good luck charm that helped Duyser win big. GoldenPalace.com has become familiar with eBay auctions, having recently purchased several items and using them to raise over $200,000 for various charities. Since this 'slice of heaven' has affected so many people worldwide, Golden Palace intends to do the same with the sandwich by taking it on tour around the world and allowing people to see the icon, hear Duyser's story, and share in the good luck that it brings. The sacred sandwich has received over 1,700,000 visitors since being posted on eBay. A Google search on the sandwich returns an incredible 89,000-plus matches, and a search on Diana Duyser's name alone returns over 3000 matches. 'We will definitely use the sandwich to raise money for charity, and we hope it will raise people's spirits as well,' says Richard Rowe, CEO of GoldenPalace.com. 'With the massive amount of hits on the eBay site and thousands of search engine queries, it is obvious that this is something people want to know more about…and Golden Palace will help spread the word. We believe that everyone should be able to see it and learn of its mystical power for themselves.' Killing threads since 2004.
