Not exactly a restaurant, but saw a gas station/convienence store/lunch counter called "Pump & Munch." Killing threads since 2004.

Our original Nintendo system was sponsored by the swear jar. Once we had a goal in mind we became little bastards doing everything we could to elicit a curse out of our parents. Putting a rubber band around the sink sprayer just before dad came down in the morning was always good for at least $1, sometimes even more if he had already gotten dressed. Married Couples - Have you ever Seen your partner..
FlyingJ replied to Unstable's topic in The Bonfire
I grew up in a VERY bathroom humor oriented family. Was never a surprise for one of my brothers to leave a floater unflushed just for the next person to find, or for someone to call someone else in to witness the majesty of of the magic they just created if it was of impressive size, etc. Thinking back I have a few memories that kind of turn my stomach a little now, but at the same time we all grew up far from uptight about any of this kind of stuff. On a similar note, my grandfather's (mom's dad - bathroom humor comes from her side of the family) favorite joke is: Why are shits tapered? Because if they weren't your asshole would slam shut! Too funny. I saw that ad just after I clicked on this thread title and made a mental note that I had to go back to that page to see what that was a picture of after reading this thread. Go figure! Killing threads since 2004.

We might do thing a bit differently here, but how does one apply monies "directly to the principle" if you have a loan outstanding which accrues interest, is that interest not simply applied to the outstanding balance? So therefore any extra money applied to the load comes off of the outstanding balance, which would include the principle plus interest so far? Does it work differently there? Not sure if it works the same with all banks over here, but my monthly payment on a loan is a combo of principal/interest. Any additional payments I choose to make in that month go 100% to principal, lowering the principal amount interest will be calculated on the next month. Killing threads since 2004.

Well, thus far Alabama has pretty much dropped a big ole' cleveland steamer on Georgia. Alabama's getting it done and Georgia sure ain't helping with all the damn fouls! Killing threads since 2004.

I've used Excel forever and consider myself pretty proficient. I just started using Excel on my Macbook though. Not too bad in general, but I've got my head up my ass on a few topics. I'm going crazy because the F2 key doesn't work to edit the active cell as it does in Windows. At first it always changed my contrast. I fixed that in the Mac settings so it recognizes regular function keys instead of the Mac functions. Now when I hit F2 though it copies the cell rather than opening it for editing. Using F2 for this is drilled into my head after years of use and I still use Excel on a PC at work. Somebody please tell me if it's possible to get F2 in Excel to function the same on my Mac as it does on my PC. I don't give a damn what the rest of the function keys do, just F2. I mentioned in the other thread that the night of my first ER clinical as an EMT student I worked on a girl that went through the winsheild of her car after crossing lanes and getting in a head-on collision. They found her cell phone with a half written text message on it. Just found out last night that the other vehicle was much larger and thankfully the driver was wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. No word on the condition of the girl that was texting. She was treated initially in town here and then sent up to Houston or down to Corpus, not sure which. Killing threads since 2004.

I despise text messaging, however I have found out after the last few big storms I went through that texts often get through when phone calls will not. With Red Cross after Katrina we actually upgraded the service on the staff phones to allow texting because phone calls were so hard to get through. I had two week long relationships w/ people at other recovery sites that I never spoke to in person, and it actually worked pretty well, all things considered. Same thing after Ike. In the day or so before and immediately after phones were jammed. Texts got through about 90% of the time though. I was able to communicate w/ co-workers that got hit hard and arrange for generators and supplies w/out them being able to get a phone call out from their area. I no longer think texting should be removed from existence, though stupid people will still pay. During my first ER clinical as an EMT student last week I worked on a 16 year old girl who was ejected through the windshield of her car after running head-on into someone while not wearing her seat belt. They found her phone with a half written text message on it. That said, I will deny until I am blue in the face to any of my text fiend friends that I have even a clue how to work a text message. Do you know what Big Bend is like during the winter (Dec./Jan.)? We're taking a road trip to TX around that time and I'm thinking of camping around Big Bend for a couple of nights, but I've only been there in the summer. I've been there in winter. Over the course of 4 days I saw both 70 and 30 degrees. I believe the more mild weather is standard with some cold fronts finding their way down there once in a while. Killing threads since 2004.

Georgia had several moments of slobknobbery, sending ASU halfway down the field on penalties alone, but they played pretty well overall. Greene was on fire! Think they'll be passing to him a lot more often. Moreno looks to be working on his audition film for the Heisman. I look forward to next week! Killing threads since 2004.

WTF is Georgia DOING!!! Their fouls are responsible for getting ASU most of their yards on this drive!!! I guess 3 points is 3 points, but that sure was odd to see a coach take points off the board to accept a penalty. Killing threads since 2004.

Looks like this one might be a decent game after watching a couple complete blow-outs w/ Alabama and Florida both winning big. I've switched over to the Georgia game now, hoping it too will be a blow out. Good luck, Noles! Killing threads since 2004.

Here's one of the sites a friend used: http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/new-york/new-york-city Pretty costly compared to getting a single hotel room, but if you are going with enough people to need several rooms it becomes a better option pretty quickly. My friends stayed in this house and said it was fantastic. Very comfy, great view and the train ride is only a few minutes into the center of town. http://www.vrbo.com/164637 Killing threads since 2004.

If you will be gone and may or may not know how cold your freezer stayed it might be a good idea to put some ice cubes in a bowl or plastic bag. If your power is back on when you get home you can check out the bowl/bag. If you have a solid chunk of ice it got warm enough in there to melt the ice and it's a no brainer that you need to think twice about what you eat. If you have two freezers, you might do some prioritization. When power loss is pending, I put items that I think I might want access to in the freezer part of my fridge. I pack my chest freezer with stuff I have no plan to need and plan on never opening it for any reason. I've had the power off for up to 5 days w/ meat inside still solidly frozen. It also doesn't hurt to have a thermometer that you can read from outside the freezer. I have one similar to this: http://www.partshelf.com/marf02.html. One last thing that others touched on...If you've got room in the freezer, pack it with ice. At minimum, the power goes off and your freezer turns into a cooler. Might help turn defrosted (yet still cold) meat into dinner rather than trash. Killing threads since 2004.

Another EXCELLENT option is a small device designed for wildland firefighters. The standard fire radio is made by Bendix King and there is an adapter you can use to power 12v devices using the radio's AA battery pack. Links to both below. http://www.firecache.com/prodinfo.asp?number=90.6400 http://www.firecache.com/prodinfo.asp?number=90.6505 $11.50 for the adapter and $22.50 for the clamshell (battery pack). I've been able to charge a cell phone 5 or 6 times using batteries that were far too dead to power my fire radio any longer. Probably could have gone longer but have never needed to. I imagine a fresh set of batteries would keep you going for quite a while. I often spend upwards of 10 to 12 hours working in the field using a PDA w/ a battery draining combo of ArcPad and gps receiver. I switch back and forth between charging the PDA and my iPod and I've got power to both all day long. They are becoming more common in the fire world, but I know about two dozen Red Cross volunteers that went out and bought them after mine got passed around our staff shelter that had no power. The adapter was designed and is built by a former Hotshot that sadly became disabled after a snag burned through and came down on his head. If you are staying for a full week you might look into some of the short term rental type places. Friends of mine just got a place in Astoria for 8 days for less than a hotel would have cost and had more room. I had a few people stay in a short term apartment deal down by the UN also. I'll send a couple emails and ask folks for some details where they stayed. Killing threads since 2004.

Very little ever bothers me and I certainly make plenty of mistakes. The only thing I get frustrated with is the repeated use on this site of "would of" instead of would've. It's contraction people! Would've = would have. Thanks, that's all. Killing threads since 2004.

Wow.....I stayed there a few weeks ago & it was $189! You just have to call them. I used to work around the corner and we would people up there once in a while. Booking far in advance you are usually stuck with the higher prices. $180 to $200 is much more common if you are booking pretty close to the date you are staying and there aren't any big events happening. Not sure how big a risk you are willing to take, but I used to have people visit me at the last minute all the time and they could almost always find airfare and hotel for the cost of airfare alone on those last minute deal sites like site59.com. Not sure if Site 59 even exists any longer, but you get the picture. Killing threads since 2004.
