  1. Dave, I am glad you guys had a blast!!!! I am jealous! It was good talking to the lot of you. In my continued attempt to explain skydiving to my family I told them the story of you hanging with Arizona Airspeed....my mom figured out the punchline before i got there and she totally got chills.....thanks for helping verbalize how great we skydivers all are!!! Anne Part of the job of being human is to consistently underestimate our effect on other people- Grealy

  5. I used a packer this past weekend. It wasn't my first time, but i usually pack for myself. Out of 14 jumps, Nate packed 8 of them for me. He did a great job, was quick, and was great about talking to me about how to get the openings as slow as possible. I tipped him at the end of the day. I think that I tip most people who provide a service, especially if they do a particuarly nice job. Anne

  9. Like Andy said, I did one yesterday...jump number 197 or so. I actually pulled the ripcord...and you get your own cutaway and reserve handles. You are able to save your own butt if necessary. I thought it was fun. John and I got some serious spirals going under that huge canopy! I think it was interesting cuz i was thinking about very different things that the last time I did a tandem! Anne

  12. You whore!!!! Thank god for the patio being closed huh?? And congrats on the license! Anne
  13. Michele, I know i told you that i did the exact same thing you did...blew right thru my hard deck fighting line twists...that was in December. Today I had tension knots in my steering lines....couldn't pull my right toggle any lower than my ear. I had to decide. I checked my altitude. I flared in rear risers. I checked my altitude. I tried to unknot it. I checked my altimeter. I did a miniflare to my ears. I checked my altimeter. I landed that canopy in nice high winds, doing a mini flare, preparing to PLF. The lesson here is that I checked my altitude every two seconds. And you will, too. You have learned the hard way, through a good scare, to keep checking. I must also confess that I still get serious jitters the first jump of the day. I did jump number 200 today. After the first load of the day, i am not usually very nervous, but that first one makes me a bit tense. Butterflies are normal. I got to soar through the air this weekend. I learned, I laughed. And so shall you. Get you butt up there!!!! love ya, girl! Anne
  14. Ok, appartently you guys needed to be at Archway this weekend....perfect weather.....super otter from Chicago... Number of times my dog pooped gravel 1: 14 : 2 I had possibly the best skydiving weekend of my LIFE!!!!! Fourteen jumps, all awesome..... Cases: one for jump number 200, one for my first kiss pass (thanks medic!!!!) Ok, the tension knot in my steering line sucked....but everything else about my jumps ROCKED!!!! I even did a tandem this morning...I loved landing and then making a five minute call cuz I am still packed. Although it was weird not to have a parachute on my back! Anne

  22. Hey, Mary, Congrats!!!!! I remeber the first jump on my own pack job...the whole opeing sequesnce was in slow-motion.....i waved off....(that took several years, as I recall)...then threw out....I remember repeating...."please open please open please open...." until I felt the jerk.... There has never been an opening that I remember so clearly and with such a sense of accomplishment! Congrats! Anne
  23. Hey All!!! I just wanted to let you know that this weekend, May 18 and 19, Archway skydiving, in Vandalia, IL, is hosting its annual SPAM accuracy meet. For a nominal entry fee (to cover the cost of your spam) you can enter one of two classes of competition....high altitude or low altitude. For high altitude...the spam must be in freefall for at least two seconds before it hits the ground. For low altitude...you must only drop the spam before you touch the ground...and you must stand up your landing....(I am SO not qualified for this division!!!) There are prizes for the best accurracy...and we will have a blast!!!! Come play with us!!!! Anne
  24. What?!? What happened to the keg you were going to bring us?? I am gonna hit 200 next weekend and was looking forward to celebrating with you guys! BTW......
  25. ok, like everyone else I prefer to jump a turbine, if itis taking off. This winter, however, I had a blast jumping the 182. At one point canopcudler, gary peek, another jumper and myself launched a diamond from the 182. i had no idea what we were doing until the piece actually came off the plane perfectly. SWEET!!!!! I don't think I have ever laughed as hard as when Tina and I try to figure out how to exit the 182....."Wait, which way am I facing?" Anne
