The Talon doesn't have an exposed reserve pilot chute.

Stayed out late last night, got up late this morning, and just had breakfast in a lovely café. Off in a couple of hours to hang out with a friend and watch Downfall. Tomorrow is a chilled day of 4-way...

It's pretty easy if you all leave at the same time . A Satellite is a pretty good exit to take. Put the pin across the line of flight, and those doing the sidebodies just step (not jump!) off. Skyvan exits can go very steep, so if you have anyone diving, make sure they're aware that they may need to put their legs up their arse. Have fun .

What's an STBX when it's at home?

Really? I was told that all Australian DZs used the old chest-mounted ripcords. Obviously not so.

That'll do.

Boris Becker.

Thank Christ no-one's ever done that to me. Fortunately I don't seem to be attracted to very insecure people. Or maybe I just make them feel secure. Either way, no scary phone calls .

A camera guy at my DZ has gotten on the plane without his rig. The 4-way he was filming let him sit down before asking him if his chest strap was done up properly. Apparently he went white as a sheet.

I'd love a while in AK. Three years might be a bit much though... As to DZs near Molesworth; I hear there's a site with a really handy dropzone locator. I wonder what it might be? . Go here, type in Molesworth as the city and click Search. Ta-dah!

If he learned in Australia he did.

Old Telesis and PigMee (sp?) SOS Ripcord systems have the ripcord-to-deploy-the-main handle on the right MLW, and a single cutaway-main-and-deploy-reserve fabric loop on left.

Only on shorthaul, at which they were pretty good. For fancy-pants transatlantic, Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class is very good. Emirates are also excellent.

Walk. Lots. If you live within 10km of work, walk there and back once a week. If you don't, take a walk to the cinema rather than driving. Or next time you need to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner, wander along the sidewalk rather than jumping in your car. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise, and it's great for burning fat too.

Luton? St Albans? Whatever, it leaves you close to a number of UK DZs, and very close to Stansted and Luton airports for cheap flights to Europe.

You're correct. The LET 410 does require a two-person crew. At least in Oz. As for the Nomad, I believe it was quite a popular jumpship in Australia at one time. More details on the aircraft.

The Aussie rules are pretty similar, though for some silly reason they don't mandate a small door Beech . Excerpt: 1.1 Exit Altitude: 8,000 feet. 1.2 Working time: 25 seconds. 2.1 The Objective: To complete a 10-Way star formation in the fastest possible time. 2.2 Number of Rounds: Three (minimum of one to complete the event). 3.1 Scoring Formation: is the largest star formation which is completed within the allotted working time of each round. A scoring formation need not be perfectly symmetrical, but it must be performed in a controlled manner. 3.2 Exit: The exit must be made from within the outer fuselage line of the door on the aircraft, that is, a "no show" exit. Breach of this rule within 10 seconds of actual exit (by either a team member and/or part of their equipment) incurs a penalty of 5 seconds per "show". Furthermore, each team member shall exit separately, that is, a "no grip" exit. Breach of this rule will incur a penalty of 5 seconds per grip. 4. Scoring: One point will be awarded for each person in the scoring formation. Completion time will be awarded for a 10-Way star formation held for a minimum of 3 seconds (holding time may run over working time). Formations are defined as being correctly completed when they have been evaluated as "correct" by at least half of the evaluating Judges. 5. Determination of Champions: The 10-Way speed star event champion is the team with the highest number of 10-Way stars with an awarded completion time. If two or more teams have an equal number of 10-Way star formations, placings will be determined by (in order of priority); (a) the lowest accumulated time for completed 10-Way star formations, (b) fastest time of any completed 10-Way star formation. Further placings will be determined by the highest number of accumulated points. 6. Composition of Teams: Each team may comprise 11 team members, any 10 of which may participate in any one jump (plus freefall videographers as necessary).
