Free beer huh? Cool, count me in. Now where the fuck is BKPC??? Some dodgy northern place full of people with dodgy northern accents who buy dodgy double albums I'll bet...
-
Modesty aside of course... I did some training last year with a guy called Adrian Nicholas. He used to work as a broadcaster on Capital (used to do the traffic reports). Probably before your time, but I thought you might know him. Will

So, Peter, you are saying the person who tracks the fastest always tracks the furthest? What if someone tracked slower, but also had a slower vertical fall rate than the person tracking faster. This would then allow them more time to track, perhaps resulting in tracking further but not faster than the person tracking faster. Time is not a constant, exit altitude and pulling altitude *should* be the constants - how long it takes you to get to pulling altitude is up to you (or rather your body position). OK, now I'm starting to bore myself - COME ON SUMMER!!!! Will

Aaah shit! I thought that name was familiar. Two years ago he posted here as smkjumper. The reason I remembered is because he emailed me some time after that post apologizing for not replying - he didn't have internet access very often. Seemed like a really nice guy, I hope he gets through this (and his back can be fixed). Will

Probably for flat tracking (ie distance), but the title of your post suggested speed was more important. Is this a distance or speed competiton?

Ask Peter Frampton. Apparently in addition to having the world's 17th best selling double album, I hear he is a pretty fast tracking sonofabitch...

I was there last weekend. Only one jump (2way with Chris Guntrip). Its OK, but the airfield is a bit too crowded. What I like about Hib is that the DZ is the only operation there. Also means the pub etc is DZ types only - makes things a bit easier when you run around setting your mates hair on fire etc. Hib gets '15 000 as well, other English DZs get less. Apart from Hib, Sibson rocks as well - loads of freeflyers there. How many jumps do you have, freeflyer or flat?
-
You sure you're not a yank?? I've jumped at Langar, Weston, Hinton, Headcorn, Sibson and Hibaldstow - will be jumping mostly at Hib this year (good altitude, good piss-ups).

Well, dabs is really good. Bought from them quite a few times (good returns policy). This is only relevant if you live in the UK of course. You might have a harder time in Mexico, or are we to assume you meant the USA?
-
Yeah, Central Line is fucked anyway, the Highway Services 'forgot' to put salt and grit on the roads - I can really see Ken's congestion charges being a massive success....
-
How many jumps are you basing this evaluation on?

I've visited the cathedral in question twice now with family. They have this big remembrance book full of names of people who died in WW2, every day one page gets turned over. People plan their visits way in advance so that on the day they visit they can see the name of their relative who died in the war. How nice for the people who were there on the day to be treated to a display of indoor parachuting... I remember first seeing that web-site two years ago, my thoughts then are the same as they are now "What a bunch of inconsiderate knobs!". I hope whatever personal satisfaction they got out of that jump/stunt was worth the disrespect they showed to so many. William Walls (wmwalls@hotmail.com)

I hope so too Dave, but I don't think Bush is going to resign...

USPA approves swooping events!!!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Today, in north London, 12:26 EST whilst browsing the web for porn and drinking a beer I started reading your advertisement (sorry, I meant major breaking news). At 12:28 EST I adjourned to go take a leak. At 12:31 EST (never washed my hands) I finished reading the breaking news. Just kidding, looks quite good. As long as you don't go handing out special license nrs. and slapping TM on swooping.... Re. the X-games - skateboarding is watched by kids because they can then go and skateboard in their drives and dream of doing what they saw on TV. Not only can you sell advertising on this because there is a big market for skateboarding related goods but also because those kids will stay glued to the box for the entire competition. They can relate to it because they can do it themselves (admittedly not as well). How many viewers will stay tuned through an entire swooping competition? After a while even the chows get boring for the whuffos. If you don't believe me, get a copy of the most excellent swoop video from the Ranch last year - sit five of your whuffo friends down to watch it and see for yourself. Whether we swoop or not, we all like to watch swooping because we all land canopies. We can appreciate the skill that the top guys have - Joe Public doesn't have a clue. Will -

Just got this link mailed to me - Check out the reviews on Amazon for David Hasselhoff's 'Best Of' album.... Too funny...

So, riggers are expected to enforce the two year battery change rule, but what about the 500 jump rule? Obviously it is in the skydiver's best interests to get the batteries changed after 500 jumps, so I presume it is up to them. Unless of course SSK asks riggers to check the skydiver's logbook at every repack - then again if you are averaging over 250 jumps a year perhaps you don't bother logging your jumps? Bit of an obtuse question, but say SSK wanted the 500 jump battery change rule enforced as the 2 year rule is currently enforced - how do you think they would do it? Have future cypreses record every time a descent was made and have some clicky combo the rigger could use at every repack cycle to check the number of jumps since the last battery change? Anybody who has gone to the expense of having a cypres fitted would want to make sure it was properly maintained, so I'd hope nobody would knowingly do more than 500 jumps on one set of batteries. It would be kinda nice though if the unit itself could tell you the number of jumps since the last battery change. Apologies for the long, rambling, slightly trivial post. Will

Yes, but if those were American asses then the damaged area would have been considerably bigger...

Read about it here... OK, so maybe it was a bit irresponsible of the radio station to use dry ice. But just how long would you have to sit on it until you realized you were burning your ass??? One would suspect that the first thing that went numb was their brains (probably because they were sitting on them...). I wonder if they had to show the court their 'permanent scarring'....

Yeah, the restraining order and the fact that she moved 5 000 miles to get away from me kind of got the message across....

Still better than naked Canadian sex...

Hmm, didn't Lisa get some this weekend? Wish I'd scored a rig when I got my cherry popped!!

Actually it was easier when I was calling you 'twin otter dude'...
