I have a Wings and have jumped it at Sibson. If you like I can bring it to the AGM. It was made for a '150 but I have a '135 in it at the moment. If you would like to come up to Hibaldstow sometime we can put your canopy in it ('144?) and you can jump it (Reserve is Tempo '150). FWIW my rigger here in the UK had never repacked a Wings, she really likes it. I'll be going to Hib fairly regularly from February again.

What's the longest stretch of time you've gone between jumps?

7 years - I chickened out in 1993 after my third freefall (SL progression). Never forgave myself, I will always be glad I decided to give it another go (a friend's wedding in Las Vegas and a bungi jump played a part). I'm having the best times of my life and have made some wonderful friendships. Life is good. -
I've always held Chuck Yeager in high esteem (probably partly due to seeing 'The Right Stuff' at an impressionable age). I read an excellent interview with him (available here). Here is his description of his first 'skydive' : Interviewer : "All right, lets go back to that March 5, 1944. Describe exactly what happened." Chuck Yeager : "I was in a dog-fight with three 190s and I got hit head-on with a 20 mm cannon, and the prop came off the airplane, part of the wing, the canopy, and it caught on fire. So me and the airplane parted company. That's the way it happens. You bail out, you free fall in your parachute, and then when you get down to within three or four thousand feet of the ground, you pull the ripcord, the parachute pops and you land. That's about the way it happens." This was four years before he broke the speed of sound. We get so carried away with how 'radical' and 'extreme' we think we are today - unassuming guys like him were doing it all a long long time ago.

Tom? No, the guy in that pic looks way too fat to be that Tom guy...

Well, obviously Clint Clawson is, but who the fuck are the rest of those people???
-
I don't really recognize most of those names. A couple like Tiger Woods obviously excelled at international level, but I haven't heard of most of those athletes.

Oops, didn't realize this had already been posted when I posted it in the BASE forum.

My last girlfriend should've gone on that show. According to her : "Monogamy only works until you meet a good-looking man with lots of money". Pity there aren't any loaded sheep out there for you Clay! Will PS if you can't be happy without lots of money, I don't think having lots of money will complete your life and make you happy.

Wow, I'm jealous - hopefully soon I get my turn. (hope Jess doesn't get jealous.... ) I made 190 jumps this year, but pretty much broke the bank on about 52 coached 2-way freefly dives. Unfortunately my freeflying skills are still not very good.. (still, if keep trying next year I am sure I will improve!)

Hi guys This BBC article has some pics from Malaysia that might be of interest to you. Will

what would you say is the cheapest FreeFly friendly container?

No big deal. Do you know about the time I posted that fat people should pay more for their jump tickets (because they make the plane climb slower)? Now that made me some new friends... -
WTF is the PBA dumbass? (anyway, I can always go back to Finland with the nurse if I get banned here - well maybe after the winter.... )

I could think of other jobs that could be worse on a Saturday night... Actually its more like 4000 miles, but who's counting baby! (Eric? who the fuck is Eric??? ) As if thats the worst thing you ever swallowed.... There, feel better now?

LMFAO - do you seriously believe that bullshit? I'd say HIV is the single biggest *issue*. Are you aware of the *economic development* currently happening in the rest of southern Africa? Hijacking this thread by bringing apartheid into it was in rather poor taste and uncalled for. Frank, I'm glad you and your family had 12 good years with your dog. Sorry, but I just wasn't happy with the thread getting hijacked and the way it was done. Will

AlienAngel : for bringing a breath of fresh air to the cheese factory.

Apart from a light center cell, is there anything else that should be considered when choosing canopy colours? I'll probably go with a stock canopy, but was just wondering. Thanks Will

Wouldn't it be an even better idea to do both? Do the FJC and then contine learning from a mentor? I like the idea of doing the FJC because A) the people who are teaching you have established credentials in the sport (unlike your buddy with 50 BASE jumps who takes you for your first BASE off a cliff in Europe... ) B) the people teaching you have plenty of experience in teaching BASE. Just because someone has loads of jumps doesn't automatically mean they will have the patience and time to teach you thoroughly. Will

190 miles each way (the time, well that depends.... ) There are DZs much closer, but this DZ gets '14 500 minimum on each load (and they turn 'em quickly) - well worth it!

Well, I had 5 clips of mine used in the Swedish Friflaj 2002 video. Of course I wasn't paid and in fact I was happy to pay the $14US to buy a most excellent 2 hour long freeflying video. I guess you are right - some people want a *deal* that is worth it, others who have full-time jobs outside the sport think of more than just the money. Different strokes for different folks I guess... Will

France, Sangiro chopped in France. (of course if I'd been spotting it might have been anywhere.... )

I nominate Clinton Radloff (and his mother). Don't anybody fucking argue with me about this one... (but yes, Von Brainiac probably would also be a worthy choice)

If they have to cut my harness off me that is going to be the least of my concerns...

That video rocked! I liked the use of colours, good choon too. That A jump with the camera mounted backwards was extremely cool! Only thing I didn't like was when you'd see a guy jump, then it was edited so you wouldn't see him pull (went straight to the next jump). I like to see the canopies come out...

Exactly! And the biggest problems in cities is in peak time when people are driving to and from work. As long as there is room for them on the pavements/sidewalks then I am sure there will be a market for them. Personally I would prefer to cycle to work, since it is only 7 miles. But, there are no showers at work, the streets here are not cyclist friendly and you can't ride on the pavements. I can also see a market for people who are slightly disabled (ie don't need a wheelchair but don't have full use of their legs either). Will
