I know! I know! A "Double Coyote Ugly" is a woman with no arms and a world-class hangover, walking around going "What the hell was I thinking shagging anything as horrendous as that PalmettoTiger???" waaahahahahaha /s [drop till you party!] PS just got back from Langar 20 minutes ago, made 4 jumps, 3 were coach jumps with Rusty, had a freakin' great time (passed Warps 1, 2 and 3 Mr. Sulu). That CD shuttle in the Caravan rocks, every ride to altitude is a total party! PPS I'll be walking the London marathon in the morning, so goodnight and I'll *see* you guys tomorrow evening.

Only problem is I can't fly and don't own a plane, but for free jumps to infinity and beyond, I am willing to steal one and have a go at flying it to you guys... Had a look at your site, bit difficult with the babelfish translation. How much are your jump tickets for the choppers? What is your nearest international airport? /s

Where is your dropzone? How much are your jump tickets (plane and chopper)? Where is the nearest international airport? Do you have accomodation on your DZ? Have you ever met a nice South African? Seriously man, I still have a lot of sick leave to use (abuse?) and would love to come out to Russia and get some East/West perestroika action going. (man, my visa is going to suffer a double malfunction this year!). Your DZ has TWO choppers??? WOO-HOO!!! later komrade skreamer

Hi guys I am looking to buy a rig from Rigs n Things in Florida. How much will customs and excise charge me for importing the rig? It will total $3000+, any ballpark figures on how much the import duties will be? I would appreciate some advice from any of you who have bought any gear in the states and shipped it over. Thanks Will

Hear, hear! But do you know the funny thing? In a twisted kind of way I like the fact that the whuffos make such a big deal about skydiving fatalities (even if they do get the facts wrong).I remember reading once about a POPS/SOS skydiver who died of a heart-attack while under canopy. Now if he had died of a heart-attack while playing lawn bowls I really doubt it would have even made the papers. I mean nobody wants to die, but I could think of worse ways to go than a heart attack under canopy after about 40 years in the sport. /s

Des I'm just a wanker all the time... /s

Umm, yes, that's right it was the radiator... Can't believe you remembered that post wingi, yes that was the night I had the 2 Irish chicks in my bed (and still didn't get any dammit!!!). Just my luck to meet good Catholic girls I suppose... /s

Wow, you must eat a lot of carrots!!! Just kidding, my personal favourite is using the proxy to pull people up on their *unsavoury* browsing habits. Reminding them that it is a dismissable offence then trying to see how they squirm their way out of it... Never report them of course, plus how else would I find all the quality sites? /s

Greg That was funny as f@ck man!!! Hey, does your mother have net access because I bet she would just love to read that post... I mean she was the jumpmaster after all! waaaahahahahahaha Oh yes, my nickname(s) 1)skreamer - on my first jump I was *venting* in the plane on jump run, so the JM told me to shut the f@ck up because I was distracting the pilot... 2)cockroach - I first got to freefall via SL progression, they gave me the nickname because of my *interesting* body position assumed immediately after exit 3)Mr. Floaty - got given this one last Saturday by a chick in Germany, I had told her all about my fast fall rate, then I floated on her (twice) and she weighs like 40 pounds less than me... Can't really decide which of those nicks is the most embarrassing, but I'll stick with the first. /s [drop till you party!]

FFF was a tandem master????? /s

The whole hook turn thing and cypres thing have been debated to death. As long as the experienced jumpers aren't endangering anybody else in the landing area, I don't see that it is anybody else's business how they choose to land their canopy. Everybody is well aware of the potential risks of hooking, if they choose to do so it is THEIR prerogative (and their ass in the saddle). Mountainman, I am still a total beginner/newbie myself after just 36 jumps, but I know better than to suggest valium to an experienced skydiver especially regarding a topic as contentious as this. There is nothing funny about people dying as a result of a bad hook turn, just as there is nothing funny about the many many other ways you could die skydiving. /s

Andy, just remember to remind these guys that you are looking for a plane in Russia. Unless you are happy flying it across the pond, you might not want to buy in the states. /s
-
Since it was a lineover, correcting it would have meant using his hook-knife to cut the line, so slowing down wouldn't have been his biggest problem, maybe getting his hands on the toggles in time and where he landed would have been his main concerns after cutting the line. I'm guessing the rigger who packed that reserve paid for the subsequent work and repack on/of the reserve (especially since by the account his body position was OK when he went for silver). Must be a HUGE embarrassment for a rigger for that to happen on a reserve he/she packed! /s

What plane were you jumping from and what did you cut your leg on? I mean if it (whatever caught your leg) could do that much damage (18 stitches) to your leg, imagine if it was your container that had caught on it... *shudder* /s

I know the Ukraine sends their Lets to the UK every summer free of charge (the DZ pays for servicing, crew wages etc, and their flight crews get flying time). Maybe you should send them a friendly request to lend you something for the summer. I have no idea who you would have to contact or how the arrangement gets made, but it is an option you might want to consider. They might have something smaller than a Let they would let you use on a similar scheme to the UK DZs. Just an idea. /s

So, Merrick, going to get an apron that matches your rig??? waaahahahahahhaaha, just wait until FFF and the rest of the boys read what your wife/almighty ruler posted! /s [grovel till Pammi says stop!]
-
Yeah, got to say I totally agree with you on that one!
-
Hey Merrick, you mean you got yourself an older woman AND she skydives? How cool is that! /s Before you fry me for calling you an *older* woman Pammi, you should know I am turning 29 this year, so I guess that makes me the dirty old man, hang on, I completely forgot, that role is already taken by FFF!

hey guys Can we please let this go already? I respect the fact that Chuck doesn't want the Cobalt being portrayed in a negative light on a forum as widely followed as dz.com. However it was Chip's ass in that saddle and I really don't think it is fair to second guess him in this public manner. I care more about the fact that Chip wasn't another casualty on an already bad weekend, and one reserve ride on a Cobalt is not going to make me rush off to buy a Crossfire instead (one day when I get tired of my Cruiselite '220 loaded at 0.8 that is!). /s

Uhhh, FFF, you might want to lay off the KFC when you get over here - what can I say, it was a loooooong, cold, lonely winter... /s
-
Uhhh DBTech Could you run that by me again, maybe with smaller words this time? /s [if I fall over in the middle of a forest, how drunk was I?]
-
hee hee, now I see what froggie meant about wearing her drink...

You were the pilot, it was your call. IMHO (as a low-timer who has not chopped yet) you did the right thing and the fact that you are posting now and didn't hurt yourself trying to land a crook main proves it. My £0.01/$0.02

Sorry to change the topic, but is this really true??? I mean I have been to the states 3 times and thought I pretty much knew all about when and where to tip, but tipping your AFF instructor??? I mean the course already costs a shedload and the instructors are pretty well paid, so I can't believe that with the steep cost of AFF and the financial sacrifices some of us have to make to do it, that a tip could/should be expected. Maybe if the barbie twin were my AFF instructors they'd get a tip, but I'm telling you right now it wouldn't be cash... /s [drop till you party!]

And he's not the only one either. Methinks FFPM is Fruce's feminine alter ego... /s [drop till you party!]
