  1. I really liked Rumble Fish. But, I like anything that came from S.E. Hinton. She wrote great stuff. Chris Penn fit the parts that he played to a T. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. Probably not, but you might get flown to some secret Egyptian torture palace because you searched for "Naughty Bondage Fairies Whip Dick Cheney's Buttocks". You evil bastard, Tbrown, you know more about me than I do. EGADS! As I sit keying the board, black Escalades with darkly sinister tinted windows are whipping through the hollar up towards my house. Time is of the essence. I feel a need to finish off the bottle of wild turkey in the cupboard and to eat the last of my stash of Owsley's finest brew. Word is that the flight to Egypt is "no frills". Not even a bag of peanut. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  3. Deep in the Ozarks with my gun, ammo and Rebel flag flying proudly. But to stay on subject. If our country wish to be the guiding light, then we need to practice what we preach and not stoop to the level of those we are against. Show that we can be compassionate yet stern. Torture is barbaric and even though our enemies do it it is no reason that we do the same. We cannot win over the sons and daughters of our enemies by being the same as our enemies. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. Never before have I ever gotten so much credit (wow 100%)from someone who completely disagees with everything I say. Thanks "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  5. Myself? (even though you did not ask me) I would not. I am for the people as I am one of the people. Only the greedy and morally corrupt would take millions while the working class get the axe and lose everything in the process. Those at the top close their eyes to what else is involved when they screw the workers. People have families that need to eat and be clothed and sheltered. They also need the medical attention that a good job can provide for them and their children. How can a CEO justify the exorborant pay they swindle while the workers struggle and fight for a decent check and benefits that will provide for their loved ones. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  6. Not once did I claim to know you Don't you tell me who I kneel down and worship. This statement implies that the founding fathers were morons as they were considered to be extreme. Maybe, I am a throwback from the sixties and seventies as I still believe that this country can and should strive for less government and more personal freedom. You're free to call me and others morons, but why so defensive when I did not attack you? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  7. Rage wrote good stuff on the condition of our society. BULLS ON PARADE "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  8. So, you much rather close your eyes to all that is wrong and bow down and worship the very government that wish to restrict. I myself rather expose the puss that is festering and wash it away. My rights and yours are dangerously on the edge and only a slight wind will topple them into the abyss. Once gone, say so long, as they will never return. There are many like myself who will never bow to the government. I dispise what this country is becoming. I dispise a government that wish to know what I am up to. It is not their right to know me. I am an individual who loves freedom and will not sacrafice that freedom for what little security a rogue government can provide. Someday another revolution will occur in this country. When? I do not know, but let the past be an indication that eventually people do and will rise up against the government when they can no longer be themselves. 9. All to often CEO's perform far below what is expected of them yet still they can walk away from the smoldering wreckage of the companies that they ultimately ruin with a check that could had been put to better use. There is no incentive for them to do well when it is guranteed that they will become even richer while the factory workers are being laid off, shareholders lose their investment and the company drowns in debt. From a paper written at Ohio State, 1999: CEO Pay-Is it too high? After doing extensive research, we have some to the overwhelming conclusion that the pay of corporate executives is becoming too high. This issue has generated a great deal of controversy among many people. In recent months, there has been an increasing concern that the growing pay gap between CEOs and workers has gone too far. The companies with the four highest paid CEOs are Travelers, Coca-Cola, HealthSouth’s, and Occidental. They have a total combined income of $550 million. In the following memo we will discuss the four major reasons used in support of our claim that CEO pay is in fact too high. Pay vs. Performance The biggest argument contributing to this notion is that CEO pay no longer reflects their performance on the job or the performance of the company they are working for. CEO pay is souring and has risen almost five times that of corporate profits. Many feel that there is no longer any risk financially to being CEO because no matter how poorly they perform, they are still rewarded handsomely. One reason for CEO pay rising in spite of poor performance is that most executives are being paid with huge stock option packages instead of cash salaries. Today, stock options make up two-thirds of a CEO’s pay, compared to one-third in 1960. Many CEO’s are benefiting from large stock gains because of the recent bull market. Some examples of CEO’s who still made big bucks despite poor performance are Stephen Case of America Online, John Walter of AT&T, and Gilbert F. Amelio of Apple Computer, Inc. For instance, during Mr. Amelio’s 17-month tenure as the head of Apple, the company accumulated losses totaling almost $2 billion. Yet Mr. Amelio was given severance pay of almost $7 million, in addition to his salary of $2 million, when he was let go by the board of directors. The Increasing Disparity between the Pay of CEOs and the Average Worker The pay disparity between CEOs and U. S. workers is reaching alarming levels. In 1965, CEOs made 44 times the average factory worker while today they make 326 times the average factory worker. In comparison to minimum wage workers, the CEO makes 728 times more. It has been calculated that if the minimum wage had risen at the same rate as executive pay, it would stand at just about $41 per hour instead of $5.15. If this were actually the case, no working person in this country would be living under the poverty level. While CEO pay has been growing, employees have not only seen a decline in their real earnings, but they have also been increasingly facing the threats of layoffs. As a result, public discontent is on the rise and workers are feeling a sense of unfairness and betrayal, which is lowering their morale and loyalty and is further affecting their productivity. Foreign CEO Pay CEO’s of American corporations are seeing their pay skyrocketing in comparison to their foreign counterparts. This is another important indicator to the fact that American CEOs are paid too much. On the average, European CEO’s make less that half of what U. S. CEOs make. Although the gap is slowly narrowing, it is believed that European’s CEO pay will never reach that of Americans because of their old-world attitudes, values, and tax systems. I n Japan, the average CEO pay is about $325,000, compared to the $1.2 million average of the CEO’s running in the United States’ Fortune 500 companies. There seems to be no logical reason why American CEOs receive higher pay than foreign executives. Structure of the Board Increasing evidence is pointing toward a relationship between CEO pay and the changing structure of the corporate board. Directors on the executive boards have the responsibility of determining the pay of CEOs and other top executives. These directors are supposed to be independent of management in order to protect the best executives. These directors are supposed to be independent of management in order to protect the best interests of its shareholders. However, recently boards are being made up of relatives of CEOs and CEOs are increasingly sitting on each other’s boards. This concept of maintaining independence is being eroded, as the board members are continuing to have more personal, financial, and business ties to top executives. For example, Mike Eisner, CEO of Disney, has his personal lawyer, his children’s formal elementary school principal, and architect who has done a considerable amount of work for him, and three former Disney executives sitting on his board. It does not seem justifiable that a CEO’s personal friends are determining his or her exorbitant salary. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 10. Too many lack the ability of deep thought. So many have become robotic and without mind do as they are told without question. When the blade falls most do not even have an idea why. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. I think he and all CEO's should scale down their excessive salaries. Not a single one is worth what they get. The same with athletes and movie "stars". As for foreign auto companies in NASCAR... Soon there will be a track in Japan, I would imagine. The cost to go to a race will be so outrageously high, only the rich will be able to afford the price. Fuck NASCAR...NHRA RULES!!! "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. Steppenwolf Monster album is one of my favorites. I bought it in 71. The album came out in 1970. I had it on the turntable this morning and the words to this song discribes exactly what the US has become. Police watching the people, a government that does not care and fat, lazy people who sit scratching their heads as their rights are slowly eroding away, your vote means nothing, government and corporate corruption and war that is aimed at making the rest of the world just like the US. America has become a monster. John Kay may be legally blind but he does have great insight. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  13. Good deal, I actually prefer ford truck over all other but prefer chevy cars over all other also. I comprimised and bought an El Camino. Love those Elky's "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  14. I completely disagree. The only lives the government cares about are the lives of the rich elite. Everyone else it is STFU and do as your told. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  15. When it comes to warfare it is a nasty ugly thing that civillians and media should be kept out of.*** Are you implying that "we the people" do not have the right to be informed of what the government is doing. An uninformed population is a population that is in the greatest danger. Our very government is extremely dangerous and should be watch with extreme caution. No one is safe. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  16. I agree, but what if the Attorney General believes the Geneva Conventions are outdated and don't actually apply in this case? It is not the AG's place to decide what is out of date. It is the AG's place to uphold what is in the book. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  17. Bush and those like him are the stench of hypocrisy. Their kind are the monsters who wish for a police state and use religion to push it. They will stop for nothing to persue the demise of freedom. What they say is the complete opposite of what they do. They disgrace the founding principles of this nation. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  18. Read iit and ask yourself if this is true about America. I believe it is. Words and music by John Kay, Jerry Edmonton, Nick St. Nicholas and Larry Byrom (Monster) Once the religious, the hunted and weary Chasing the promise of freedom and hope Came to this country to build a new vision Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope Like good Christians, some would burn the witches Later some got slaves to gather riches But still from near and far to seek America They came by thousands to court the wild And she just patiently smiled and bore a child To be their spirit and guiding light And once the ties with the crown had been broken Westward in saddle and wagon it went And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean Many the lives which had come to an end While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland We began the slaughter of the red man But still from near and far to seek America They came by thousands to court the wild And she just patiently smiled and bore a child To be their spirit and guiding light The blue and grey they stomped it They kicked it just like a dog And when the war over They stuffed it just like a hog And though the past has it's share of injustice Kind was the spirit in many a way But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping Now it's a monster and will not obey (Suicide) The spirit was freedom and justice And it's keepers seem generous and kind It's leaders were supposed to serve the country But now they won't pay it no mind 'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy And now their vote is a meaningless joke They babble about law and order But it's all just an echo of what they've been told Yeah, there's a monster on the loose It's got our heads into a noose And it just sits there watchin' Our cities have turned into jungles And corruption is stranglin' the land The police force is watching the people And the people just can't understand We don't know how to mind our own business 'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us Now we are fighting a war over there No matter who's the winner We can't pay the cost 'Cause there's a monster on the loose It's got our heads into a noose And it just sits there watching (America) America where are you now? Don't you care about your sons and daughters? Don't you know we need you now We can't fight alone against the monster "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  19. I believe the gathering of info to persecute the people was part of the reasons the settlers left England for the "new world". Only what they feared they brought with them. John Kay and Jerry Edmonton wrote a song called Monster and it is so true of what the USA is about and should be listened to. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  20. Concerned is a much better word than scared. I can see where visiting certian anti-american websites will eventually land a certian number of people in hotwater much like checking out books like Johnny Got His Gun was considered anti- American. What we read and view is being collated and the info will eventually fall into the hands of the pro-American zealots. I know for certian that the Feds do in fact have a file on me from past association with certian motorcycle organization. How many realize that they too might have a file with their name on it and that that info can and will be used against them should the government see a need to come down hard and certian sectors of the population? I no longer associate with certian groups, yet this does not mean that I now sit well with the Feds. I do still talk with certian people, sometimes by phone, sometimes by email and sometimes in person. Any encounter that can be recorded is recorded. I have no doubt. If the Feds get a foot through the door to open all files from companies such as Google then each and every person who use such tools are open to suspicion and evasive scrutiny by the very government that they support by means of tax dollars and other means. It is much like hiring a private detective to spy and gather damaging info on yourself. This is a new age McCarthy era and I can only see it getting worst as the current administration (as well as past and future) is hellbent on knowing everything about everyone in the name of national security. This may seem well with those who say"I did nothing wrong, I have nothing to worry about". Many during the McCarthy era said the same untill they were caught up in a snare that does not discriminate. If you are not concerned, you should be. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  21. I would think that any person with just the least amount of intelligence would had realized that anything, once entered, will forever be floating in cyber-space. But, what right does the Federal have to any info farmed from search engines? The Feds are using an age old tatic that what they are doing is to "protect the children". They use this anytime they want to gather support from the public as it does tend to play on the hearts of the ill-informed. It has worked for years with their war on marijuana. How soon will they use the patriot act to get to the info they want. I find it very hard to believe that they are only interested to know who is looking at porn. The internet is the new library. They want to know who is searching for info on whatever in cyber-space much like they want to know what books the public is checking out at the public library building. This is just another crumbling brick in the wall of privacy in terms of the government knowing even more of the habits of the people. There is no doubt that everytime we log on that we are being monitored by someone or something and that the line of privacy is thin and blurry. It is also understood that companies have always farmed info from its consumers long before Al Gore invented the internet. Should the government have access to this info in order to "fight" terrorism as I am sure is their true intention. Would someones search for info on Al Qaida label them a terrorist and open them to the abuse of an over reaching government? I often go to Al Jazeera's website as well as other Islamic websites (some extremely radical anti-american). Can I be labeled as an unfriendly, a potential foe of the State. I seriously doubt that it is porn watchers that they are seeking. The Federal government has proven time and time again that they not a true government for the people. How long can Google hold out untill the Feds seek a court order for them to hand over everything in the name of national security? If you're not scared, you should be, even if you've done nothing wrong. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  22. In light of what Google has been doing, in terms of info-farming and the desire of the Federal Government to know what they know, should they be boycotted? What about other search engines? I can only believe that the others are also farming info on the people who use these search tools. Is this Orwells nightmare come true? Can it be stopped now that it is already in motion? Will people be willing to give it up even though they now know that they are being watched and studied by their own desire for information. Will this thread be placed in an info-file with my name attached? Can I expect Google thugs to kick my door in and whip me with my firewire untill I give in and tell them all that I know? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  23. It means you should had bought a chevy . "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  24. Why such animosity between us at times, when we feel EXACTLY the same way about the bible? - I am neither aware or unaware of any animosity. I am agnositic in this regard Sorry, I just couldn't help it. It was all to easy "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  25. Actually if read the last part of my last post it does say the Tahoe is built in Arlington. I myself am a Chevy Man. First car was a 68 RS camaro in 1976. My current cars are a 1980 Elky SS and my beloved sweety a 57 Belair 2 door post. As it goes with foreign interest in the US, a lot of towns are happy to have them. GM, Ford and Dodge have been shifting their ops to Mexico for cheaper labor for higher profit since the 70's. It really has little to do with the union wage as it had more to do with corporate greed. The corporate decision of the past is what is hurting them today. Also the tariffs applied during the eighties is what also brought foreign automakers to build plants here as it is cheaper to ship in parts and assemble the car right here than to pay the tariff on an already assembled car shipped in. Blame it on corporate and government. You can invest in these very companies as they do very well. If you want to really complain, take a walk through Walmart as more than 90% of the items sold there are made in China. Also note that no TV's are built in the US. No cameras nor DVC's. A large number of items that Americans were proud to build have long ago left the shores for foreign destinations only to return to be bought by you and me and the rest of us. Walk through your house and look at labels. America has long lost the edge as being number one in manufacturing. Even Harley Davidson, and I rode HD for more than 20 years. I emblazoned Harly in ink across my back. The majority of HD parts are foreign. All harley front ends come from Japan. All Harley chrome come from Tiawan. HD electrics, Japan. Face it, this is not the 1957 that built my 57chevy. Those days are long gone. What a damn shame. Most kids today go goo goo ga ga over a reved up Nissan. I come from the days of American pride in the cars we owned. As a kid in the 60's and early 70's we spent a lot of time at the drags where it was all american muscle. On my streets as a teenager in the 70's it was heavy horse power chevy's and mopars. Today I cringed when some kid pulled up along side me in a accord with a stinger tailpipe and a whaletail spoiler. Just to sad to think about it. The pic is me, my brother and my old buddy standing in back of my dads old digger at Fresno Dragway. Now that's American!!!
