maybe i'm wrong here, but i thought parents and people of the church/mosque/temple were supposed to be role models for children? why again are professional athletes supposed to be role models? This ad space for sale.

What exactly do you want them to do if he goes into cardiac arrest? He's dead man walking. Only thing is, he should have stopped walking twenty years ago. Age and health are irrelevant. This ad space for sale.

It's not too hard for a cop to have a reason which can not be proved in court. I've been pulled over for hitting the brake too many times and too haphazardly that the cop thought I was drunk. He also said he saw me cross the middle line once or twice. I wasn't drunk, but I was extremely tired. The cop could easily have that as a reason to pull someone over. You can fight it in court, but if you've got a prior conviction, or you've got drugs in the car, your credibility is going down fast. This ad space for sale.

No, they're not. As the great Bill Hicks once said, "Hitler had the right idea. He was just an underacheiver. Kill everybody." This ad space for sale.

Censorship - some don't like it, so YOU can't watch it

The Brits, it has been said, do indeed seem to have taken 1984 as a guidebook rather than a warning. It would not surprise me one bit if they came out with a device alleged to be useful for the "social good" that they actually called a "telescreen." They seem to be blindly, dumbly just plodding along utterly insensate to the fact that they are building the very foundation of 1984 within their society at this very moment. It's a movement that is very much alive in the world, and it will establish its strongest foothold in the U.K., I am sure. - It's not just the UK. Right here in our land of the free(tm), they're trying very hard to make the Patriot Act permanent. This ad space for sale.

Censorship - some don't like it, so YOU can't watch it

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! Except on my side, there is pressure to SEE filth in the world that exists, no matter if I change the channel, quit reading the article/book,etc. (What if I see/experience things in this world that I don't want to? SAME THING!) What can be done, to prevent people like me, from being "pressured" to participate in the filth and garbage of this world? You want to watch what you want to, and so do I...except I don't want to watch programs that are filthy, overly violent, etc. How exactly are you being pressured to watch filth if you turn the TV off and close the book? I agree with you, but you gotta understand the general kind of people living in tennesse, and i'm going to take a random guess that this is also in a more bfe part of tenn. the station would probably be better off, over there, not to play the show, so as not to cause a boycott or public backlash. Nobody censored them. Corporate pulled the plug due to viewer outcry. It's called the bottom line. Big difference. This ad space for sale. -
You're absolutely right. I think we should also have a telescreen in everyone's room so the government can watch you and make sure you're not doing anything you're not supposed to. Just don't commit any crime and you won't get in trouble. What mailicious intent could they possibly have for making sure the land is free of degenerates? This ad space for sale.

If, by your hyperbole, you mean you oppose all those people having to register, should I take you to mean that you don't think sex offenders should have to register? I mean, I didn't offer the suggestion that nose-pickers should have to register; I said "violent criminals". How does it serve a community to know where the sex offenders are -- who are mostly a threat to children and women -- but not to know where the violent criminals are, who are a threat to everyone? - To be honest, no, I don't think sex offenders should be made to register. If they are a threat to society, and it's been proven that they are very likely to attack again, they shouldn't be a part of society. This ad space for sale.

It's bright and sunny in Florida. I'm waiting for UPS to drop my rig off. One thing that cracked me up a couple months ago: I was flying into Coventry (England) and I get on the plane, and the pilot's says "Thank you for flying with yada-yada-yada. It will be 10:34pm when we land in Coventry, and it is NOT raining over there. I repeat, it is NOT raining."

I would decriminalize all "victimless" crimes, so yes. I believe that an individual has the unlimited right to control his own body. If you want to kill yourself, go for it. What I would punish is crime against others. Relentlessly. rl Mj and only mj You might be productive while high. Most of the smokers I know are absolutely worthless. Not all, but most. It's why I don't like smoking with others anymore. This ad space for sale.

I don't think "fear" was even a part of this thread. Can you elaborate? my take - Taking drugs isn't a risk taking activity or exploration, it's an exercise in poor judgement - or at least lack of good forethought. Where it's not a poor health decision or addiction risk, fear doesn't come into play either - then it's just a recreational activity. I understand there are different takes, but to me, it is, or was, an exploration. I'm not, by any means, saying people who don't try something do so because of being scared, but I do know, in some cases, where it is true. What would you say for someone who has never had a drink his entire life? Is he more mature because he never committed a health risk? This ad space for sale.
