  11. Bail isn't free. She had $500,000 bail. That means she posts $500,000 which she gets back upon showing up for court. First of all, $500,000 is a ridiculously high amount of bail. A DUI gets about $10,000. Murder, I believe is $300,000. Most people don't have that much amoutn to drop. So, that's where bailbondsmen come in. They'll pay your bail, but you have to pay 10% nonrefundable upfront. So, for her, that a $50,000 nonrefundable fee. Quite a hefty amount for having a condom filled with flour. Makes sense why she couldn't leave. It's thoughts like these that really scare me. I don't know how you guys do things up, but in the States we're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. That means, I do not need to prove that I'm not doing something suspicious. The police have to prove that I am being suspicious. This ad space for sale.
  12. Do you guys even bother reading the article? It wasn't MEANT TO BE A JOKE AGAINST SECURITY. It was something the girls at her school hand out as stress relievers. Reread that. IT WAS NOT A JOKE AGAINST THE TSA. THERE WAS NO MALICIOUS INTENT AT ALL. This ad space for sale.

  19. It never said anything about bail. I don't know why bail was never posted. If you can't post bail, they will keep you in jail until a court date, at which point you are found either guilty or innocent. If they plan on pressing charges, they will hold you, unless of course, you can post bail. I know this was said tongue-in-cheek, but If they drag a breathalyzer into a three week process, nobody would ever get DUIs. We'd be sober by then. This ad space for sale.
  20. Corporate self-censorship is completely different from government censorship. There's nothing wrong with a corporation not placing ads in one place because they fear a backlash. After all, they are liable to their stockholders, and them ONLY. I would be very surprised if a major corporation did anything that was not based 100% on profit. Even things like donations and public service are not done to actually help people. They are done as 1) an ad campaign and 2) to look good. It's all about the bottom line. Now, if the government were to start censoring, that's a a whole different story. This ad space for sale.
  21. Almost, except for one thing. When did it become the law that one may not carry condoms and flour in one's suitcase? rl That may be a good point. But I think that there is something in the law about proffering something as though it is drugs -- it's how they can convict drug dealers who are "dealing" fake stuff. I'm not really sure. You'd have to ask a lawyer or prosecutor. -Jeffrey she never said it was drugs, never offered it as drugs ... she had condoms filled with flour. This ad space for sale.
  22. Not so fast. Chemical engineers retained by the cocaine barons have successfully transformed cocaine per se into seemingly benign alkaloid compounds which aren’t readily detectable as a drug but can be chemically reprocessed into saleable coke post screening. Ascertaining the true nature of these compounds when they are mixed with other substances like common baking ingredients may very well occupy a reasonable interval of several weeks time given the busy schedules of the drugs labs. I would argue that the college darling in this case wasn’t uniquely entitled to fast, friendly service given her responses to the field agents’ questioning and the other facts apparent in this case. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners! I didn't even think about that. That's a good point. I was only considering actual coke. Even still, I question the actual accuracy of the field tests if flour posts as a positive. This ad space for sale.
  23. Drugs aren't dangerous? I didn't say drugs aren't dangerous. I said, "bringing drugs onto a plane do not endanger the lives of others." You can't compare having a condom filled with drugs with waving a toy gun around. The latter should, rightfully, get you shot. This ad space for sale.
  24. Here's the difference: Carrying drugs on a plane does not endanger the lives of others. Carrying a gun does. Furthermore, how hard is it to tell the difference between coke and flour? (Not hard, in case you don't know) More than likely, a guard got a bit too trigger-happy with the handcuffs. This ad space for sale.
  25. she was an idiot, but how difficult is it to tell the difference between coke and flour. i know federal agents are taught to be able to lick a little bit and be tell. yeah, she was stupid. however, whoever did the field test should be fired. This ad space for sale.
