Ang is a very good skydiver! The Knights had a good bunch to look at and she not only held her own but scored tops from what I was told. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I remeber when Bryan went to try outs. I also remember the fellow doing push ups (my company was doing the SLT, aka slam dunk that morning). Itwas funny Eric, Bryan didn't tell any of us about the tears, I wish I knew that yesterday while having lunch with him. he is back running the "Wings" as you know. Chuck, maybe Doogie was refering to the 75th guys in the ao doing PT and such? It was Oct '86 (FY '87) when they went to the 1/507th and renamed the companies. I went in Jan '87 and they all made the "Branch" reference slip up from time to time. Yesterday the School did a "double" fill. Picked up 2 companies at once (700 + students), and yep they are doing the PT test. Matt "Forced in, left out" An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

With Teva's and a closing pin necklace! Can't forget that. I am looking forward to going back down on Monday and watching the inprocessing. If SGT ABN ever says "hit the compass" it will hurt. What is that? It is like "push to the four winds", you know 10 push ups, turn, drop, 10 push ups, till you hit 40 and have covered the "four winds". But there are 360 degrees on a compass. I made an O-4 do that one day for cussing out a SEAL. The SEAL was told to go back to the front of the lineto repeat his PLF from the LDA (lateral drift aparatus, a real low slide for life), he had just gone feet ass head real damn hard and I wanted him to do it again. I figured as long as he only saw 2 of me he would be fine in Tower Week (week 2). The O-4 didn't want any of that, but in the end he saw it my way (it didn't hurt the CSM was there and helped to 'plain things while I finished with my 30 plus students). I don't go by AGT ABN any more, USAULLY it is "Chief" (for Chief of Instructors US Army Pathfinder School Ft. Campbell). But some time I hear SFC Cline, Dick head, asshole, mother fucker, SGT son of a bitch, you know the usual terms of endearment we give to our senior Non-Coms

Washington State Union Contract and Firings
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Speakers Corner
As this looks like it will end up a fed court matter, it should be cancelled as a matter of Constitutional Law. I can not beleive it has gotten to this. The Governor (regardless of party) knows this is not right. Just because it is "not" illegal doen't make it legal. I am almost willing to change my state of residence to apply for a job and then sue when not hired because of the union thing, but I hate those people so I wont. Washington State Union Contract and Firings
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Speakers Corner
Let me understand this. I can "not" be a member of a Union, but it can say it "represents" me? Agaisnt my wishes and then force me to pay its Dues? Because of a State Law? Then using an Illegal contract (remember it is not legal and binding for me since I am not a member) force the State (A Government Office) to fire me for not being a Union Member? I do not see how any of it is Legal or Constitutional! I would be enraged if this had happened to me. I cannot believe this has not caught the attention of more people here and in the mainstream media. I would love to here some more points of veiw here. An Instructors first concern is student safety. Washington State Union Contract and Firings
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Speakers Corner
According to the story, the WA State Workers Union starting loosing members do to the dues being used to back political candidates that the workers didn't particularly like, but the Union presidency did. The Union then went into a contract negotiations with the Governor. The Governor was the Candidate that the Union backed, both with money and an endorsment. The Union told the Gov that with out the members being forced to join there would be no union, (thus no money and no endorsment). To force them to join, the contract was written that only allowed Union members to be hired by the state and if you didn't join the union, to be fired by the state. There is a class action law suit and the contract should be declared nul and void eventually (and the Governor and union should be looked at criminally in my opinion) with the state employeees getting their jobs back. But again is this contract legal? I do not know any thing about the NJ thing but they do not sound related on face value. An Instructors first concern is student safety. I was one of those "military types". The idea Ben and I talked about was some thing that could be placed on the outlet ratcheted down for a while then, pop it off when not needed. Picture the Eloy tube with its rounded entry/exits and a net on top (would hate to pop out the top and ding yourslef on the top of the tubes lip on the way down. That would allow the skydivers the training enviromnent they like and still have the Beautiful view! (That was pretty cool! But I was not going to go 60+' high like BK to see with out at least a base rig or an air bag!) The tube being removable would also allow the unmolested out door freefly enviromnent you Tunnel Rats love (term of endearment!). Tunnels are fun. But I use them for a training aide and all my opinions and ideas are based on that. Happy New Year All! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Washington State Union Contract and Firings
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Speakers Corner
The state of WA has begun firing employees who refused to be a part of the State Employees Union. It is apparantly a part of a contract between the Union and the Governor. Sorry no link, but I saw it on CNN and Fox so I think it is someone legit for a story. My question to all, is this Constitutional? My take is- no it is not. How can the State force a union on any one? This is likethe FAA forcing USPA on ALL US skydivers (this is an example not the thread!). Thank You and Happy New year to all! I haven't been to Orlando since Jan 2003 (2 hours then). I would like to add Perris in the tied for 3rd slot. I can't beleive I forgot them. I think AAC could be one of the best in the world with verticle references (walls) for Skydivers. But Tunnels need to bring in tourists since us skydivers will be using it as a training device, tourists and tunnel flyers will actual turn the tunnels profit. Again it is all just my opinion. Happy New Year all! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Last year the PT test was back in on day 1. This year it may go away again, to many didn't make it in! Statistically when we had a PT test only around 5% of the failures failed out for PT related issues. With out the PT test, of the failures 30 to 40% where PT issues. You would see whole platoons of recycles marching to the next company to try and make it through week 1 all over again. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Oh yeah, they are all in "P" positions. If he isn't TDY enroute he will go TDY and return once assigned. If he gets in to the 82nd AVN Brigade he will get big bucks! Flight Pay and Jump Pay, new rig in 3 months new canopy 5 months later oh the possibilities! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

He being an Aviator on the conventional side, all the aviation units at Bragg are part of 18th ABN CORP. Almost all thier slots are ABN postitions so he should be pretty safe in getting ABN school TDY enroute. My experience with ABN school. I went in JAN '87. I went back as a Black Hat and stayed for 4 years from Jan '95 to Feb '99, leaving as the Jump Branch Master Trainer. And return 2 or 3 times a year for Training or to teach. The entry PT test needs to be stellar! The pushups and Sit ups are graded with a perfectionists eye. Running is running, stay in front and you will not have to worry about the time. The Black Hats do relish the Brake Area Proceedures, it is part of the "Traditional Right of Passage". Drink water and do your best you'll be fine. They like to mess with "skydivers", which is funny since a bunch of them are part of the Demo team there (I was for 3 of my 4 years there, it helped me get my current job). Knowing a proper PLF may help before you go , but they will teach you and give you plenty of practice . ABN School is not acedemically challenging and for some one who already jumps it is just getting used to being so LOW for a jump. ABN School is about over comming fear and doing as your taught, no matter what you think you already know. I will be there from 2 to 6 Jan 2006 teaching another course to several (45) instructors and can ask if any thing has changed since I was there 3 months ago. You could always e-mail SFC Bryan Patrick of the "Silver Wings" Demo Team (you know use the Skydiver life line) you can find his e-mail on the Ft. Benning web page. But hey have fun with it! It is 3 week (or 4 weeks if you get to do zero/detail week, arrive at noon the thursday before your class starts and you can stay off the detail roster) brake from all the crazy stuff you do in the Army! Try to avaoid the summer classes, they are usually full of cadets (over the class limits) and are a whole lot more hecktic. Once you graduate and get to Bragg go to Raeford and find "slotperfect", "dahlilama" and a few others and you can then focus on the GK part of your plans! Your Skydiving Goals for 2006
matthewcline replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
AFF-I. Pass 3000 Jumps. Pass 36 Hours of freefall time. Pass 30 hours in the tunnels (9 to go). Pass 1000 Tandems (< 300 to go). Become a USPA Tandem Instructor Course Director. NOT get labeled a "skygod" by dzmama. Retire and become a full time Skydiver/Instructor but still have fun at it! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
Although I prefer Michigan suits (I have 4 personal suits now and up to 8 more for work). If you have a Bev, stick with her. She makes a good product and you will have a base to compare your new suit to. But which ever you decide to buy, talk to the builder (and some experinced folks at the DZ too). I have had suits from most ofthe big US makers and have had only minor issues with any. When I went with a different brand there has always been some "quircks" in the new suit to get used to. For some this is not acceptable and they can never get used to the new suit. Occasionally you will here of the issues like mentioned above. Hope this helps if not or you need more send a PM I will gladly spend more time with this. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

If your looking for "skydiving" training from a tunnel this is my personal rating of US tunnels I have been to. 1. Ft. Bragg (being in the Army helps here) 2. Eloy (SV) 3. AAC 4. Orlando (SV) 5. PF PF was so slow that using the Balloon suit was a step backwards for "skydiving". To me, not very realistic and not enjoyable. To me, not worth it to a "Skydiver". The first 3 have the "fastest" air, but AAC being open you have to keep an eye as to your position in the air column, tough to do in your ealier Tunnel/Skydiving career. The Sky Venture tunnels have coaches who are skydiver oriented right at hand. AAC has a good set but I think they are more "Tunnel Rat" (term of endearment!) oriented, but in that bunch they are the best! Just my opinion. An Instructors first concern is student safety.
