Since Your down by Red's shop go look at them. I have decided to buy one for my next rig and have them in the small team rigs already. I have used the Cricket 2 times (oops, packing a Stiletto is not an easily hurried task!). Both times they did a fine job. On heading, docile handling for a 150ish chute with a

Something to build with an expired Cypres!!??
matthewcline replied to Dumpster's topic in The Bonfire
Another Idea. Use my original test plan but put the secondary "load" on the other cutter. The secondary can ignite a set of fire works. If both cypress' are attached to the same load then you can ignite 3 sets fo fire works. The second set can free fall from the first using the cutters to "cut it away". Wow! this could get real complicated. I should have done this with our old sets instead of trying to be scientific. But be legal and make sure people know what your doing! You would hate to have a bunch of UFO sightings blamed on a skydivers fun. Remember what happened to the Golden Knights during a Demo a few weeks after Sept.11, 2001. Here is what we did wit h2 Cypress' when they expired. You'll need 2 cypress' 2 kit bags with 150 (+ or-) lbs 2 harness cantainers with 2 reserves. (I used 2 Wings with 2 Strong G-228's) 1 Ch-47 (or another suitable A/C) Rig it up as you wuld during a normal repack (or pack the reseves with a turn) and strap the kit bags to the harness so they wont come off. Arm them as normal climbed to 2000' and toss away. At 750' agl wala, it is actually kind of dull. Make sure you have all the legal isues (if in the US) to do this. Check the FAR's as to how they apply to throwing and unmanned parachute system set up out of an airplane. I avoided the FAA by using Army Aircraft, Army equipment and an Army post. Wealso sent along two Pro Tracks t orecord the whole thing it was pretty cool. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
Congrats! Cheers! to many long happy years! "May the sun always be bright and the moon shine clear at night. When looking into each others eyes, it is good to see a tear in the guys. For he knows, as long as you have each other, the world can never be a bother." Again, Cheers! to the happy couple! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Kids are funny aren't they? My Daughter (6 years old at the time 10 now) was concerned that Santa didn't put his plate and glass in the sink after he ate the cookies and drank the milk a few years back. She didn't want him to get a "time out", she says "he only comes once a year Dad! and if he had to sit a time out it would make him late for the other kids!" Her cousin (older by 6 years and a budding comic)replies " he better start here then". Classsic kids, and me with out the video up at the time. An Instructors first concern is student safety. Since no one else posted this, What did you get for Christmas?
matthewcline replied to Feeblemind's topic in The Bonfire
Love from the two best girls in the world (Wife and Daughter). A new gear bag to match the rig. Some really cool picture frames from the youngin' to keep photos of her in. A dinner date with the wife (no kid allowed). A cypress 2. The usual stuff. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
Ron, I agree on the "comfort zone" point. The RWS Examiner Course Director uses a Boottie suit for all his jumps. He is comfortable with it. I use a bottie suit on 90% of my tandems, occasionally I will add a Freefly Jacket if the passenger seams a bit of a challenge in the memory department and I will use the added drag on the arms as a tool (as jump suits are inteneed to be) to help me put them where I want them (them being the student). I only have 700 tandems but this has worked for me. I started back in my boorie suit after I finished Probabtion and began working at the DZ, initially since I didn't have time to change from jump to jump, but I stayed with it as I was comfortable in the Booties. In an article wasn't Fires focus on exits and then the flow of the dive? They are 4 damn good flyers so the tunnel would have just made them a BIGGER hurdle for Arispeed, Fastrax, the Knights and so on. So maybe Fires focus on exits helped them become a solid Team. Exits are a big part of RW and pulling them off adds points to the total. But no one can deny the tunnels benifits. The Video that the NSL had of the Eloy tunnel showed that the 4 way teams even lowered the wind speed to work the exit count in! Adding 1 more thing you can train on in the tunnels. Airspeed I think, has the second most tunnel time of the top teams through out their history. They pretty much invented the Tunnel RW coach programs out there today for civilians. The Knights probably had the most tunnel time until recently. Wind tunnels will always be an added benifit to skydiving and not a passing fad. With a 14' tunnel in Eloy any team wanting to represent its country in National and International events should just book a team room annually and forward their mail to the DZ. B2 get more team rooms ready! Your gonna be busy, with 3 (?) US 4-Way Open RW Teams already it will only get busier! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Yes they work. Being one of the military who tested them a bit and has worn them for 4 years they are awesome. A suplex or cotton FF suit will keep you fairly toasty on the ground and the ride up. You will feel a bit of a bite from the cold in Freefall but once again under canopy you should be fine. I have worn mine for many a winter jump. Even opened and saw a few flurries under canopy. Now if the ycould do some thing about my finger tips! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

That is a very tough observation to make. At just 45 mph (average rural speed) it would only take a little over 1 second to cover that 30 feet. He made have made the error thinking the car would wait. If he thought the car was going to waite and it didn't, he could only pray at that point. An Instructors first concern is student safety. You sure this is a recent issue? The older tunnels like the 2 Flyaway facilities had much slower speeds and much less volume so any type of Freefall Simulation was not true to freefall as the Orlando, Eloy, Perris, Airkix, etc, etc, are today. Yesterday on Fox or CNN (I can't exactly remember, I was channel surfing) the Anchors said it was a bomb building accident, then during an interview with an anti-terrorism "expert" it was a Preditor shooting. Either way it hurts AQ a little. I say a little since I think they have been running a de-centralized operation since the US responded to September 11th 2001. I had both eyes done at the same time in December 2002. 35 days later (Jan '03) I was at the RWS Examinor course in DeLand. In Feb 2003 I was at the range in Kuwait spotting the .50 and MK-19 with no issue. Firing the zero for the M-4 was real quick too. In Najaf, I really noticed the difference when I could transition from sight picture to sight picture without having to keep the glasses "framed" around the sights. I could also transition from the M-4 to the M-9 a lot faster than in the past. Part of it is also Phsyco-symatic (sp), alot of people get a lot of confidence once they lose the glasses dependancy. My wife works in the eye care field (Licensed Dispensing Optician) and sees the confidence factor all the time. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Maybe we should to take the word "biker" out of it. Maybe use the term "Motorcyclist", or "supporter of the greaving who rides a motorcycle" or a combination of that. The way they get to the funeral is not relavent. If you read the news links from either web sight it even shows "Truckers" helped to block the hecklers from the funeral. Plus, unlike the "protesters" the "Motorcyclists who support the greaving" happened to be invited. I haven't seen any of the news agencies make the "biker" conection as we have here. Maybe it is a very out dated biased? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

They may say the are willingly joining him, but how long was he teaching this hatred to them at home? It is just as bad as the White Power zealot who teaches his children all people of other color are inferior. That child may be a willing follower as an adult too. But the biased was still taught as a child. At least, using his rational, he will not be lonely in haites, he will have his whole family with him. An Instructors first concern is student safety.
