  1. I have a copy in my library autographed by several of the Knights mentioned in it. John Hoover just published a fiction that I finished 2 days ago it is pretty good. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. That list is from the warning label. The Col. does not appear to be an arty officer but a PR officer, so I think he went "off the cuff" and made a few errors in his quotes. WP is a marking round used to spot arty barrages. It is also in flares used to mark freindly positions. It does get used to detroy equipment but that is in the hand grenade version, and it is not thrown hap hazardly, but deliberatly placed. If some one used them intentially for any other reason it would be wrong, signed treaty or not. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. Prof, I respect your opinoin so I ask this; Are you upset at the protesters lack of tact? or Do you think it is ok since the First Amendmant protects free speach? I agree they can speak their mind as it is protected, but I think they should have done so with out hurting that family any more. But they did it for the attention, which they wanted and we have given. Lets just ingore them and move on to important, real issues. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 4. A video clip of a six way RW (belly) group made the weather chanel Sunday AM. It look like fun and ws a real pretty scene. I saw it as I was sipping a cup of coffee getting ready to head back out to the B&G meet. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Kallend, The right time and right place and there would have been no "bump". No one here dissagrees with free speach, but we do agree with disrespect to the fallen. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  8. Jeff, OK, take out all the rumors and second hand info. You will still see a lot of folks who happened to be personally wronged by 1800skyride. If you would like the support of thes kydiving comunity and to make it foster then you will need to make big obvious changes, otherwise it is still a greedy business trying to fruadulently rise above the honest business'. Be honest in the web page adds. Be honest and remove the fake web pages. Be honest and charge a lagitimate price for your tandems with a DZ you have a CONTRACT with. Be honest and pay the DZ the fee they get from their usuall customer sources. Be honest and don't use the customers as away of running other DZ's out and buying them real cheap. Be honest to the customers, I am tired of hearing from them about how I did them wrong and I didn't talk to them from GA and stear them all they way through TN to get weathered out, but since they didn't buy weather insurance, no refund. Bottom line be honest. Once you do that you'll see your argument about having to put food on the table etc. etc. etc. Is just .... Dis-honest. The concept of Skyride would not be argued over if the practice of it was honest from the begining. The whole enterprise has been dis-honest for a while and 6 years ago that cost me a great opertunity. Jeff, I will be 1 of many who will repond to you. Thank You for at least attempting a diolague that may be productive. It will all depend on the honesty. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. True it seems imposible. They happened to be bought in two groups from a DZ that is out of Business now. The purchaes where about 9 months a part. The first group had the one that failed quickly and the second group had the one that never worked. 1 of them sticks at various altitudes and takes a while (5 to 10 minutes) to go the zero once on the ground. We contacted the dealer (the defunct DZ) and no luck with any warranty or replacements. We still awaite a reply from the manufactorer. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 10. Yes and the answer would be no unless the TI was 130 lbs or less. It was answered tongue in cheeck ealier. The fellow may want to drop a few pounds if he REALLY wants to jump. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  11. I have never had good luck with the FT-50. We had 6 on our team and all of them decided to quit working at some time. 1 never worked to begin with and the other 5 failed at different times (jump 20 for 1, 100 for 2, 175 for 1 and the other at 300). I am fairly sure on the failer jump numbers as the whole kit is issued andwe look at the log books at the fail point to get an idea of the #. We called Alti-2 and now (for the last 2.5 years) we have had no issues! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  13. A lot of the "former soviet union" A/C are now operated in the US by Contractors for the military. Maybe you could get a contraced HIP or HIND. Plus you may want to look into some of the newer ramp A/C like the Spartan (looks like a bulked up CASA). The Spartan can do what the C-130 (for skydiving at least) but with a few less numbesr needed to fill it, so it might be easier to organize. There is a company in Florida that runs the Bud, Monster and Yahoo (if I remeber right) Blimps. They have had to park a few due to a lack of sponsorship. Thay are a standard (what ever is standard for a Blimp) frame that is adapted (color wise) to the sponsors logo. If I can find the contact info I will send it along. 15. Max, IMHO ALL religians are political. All religions get involved in politics, economics and socialogical issues. We have a country that was founded on excaping religious pursecution. The US (a long time ago) believed that the right to practice or not practice your religion was god given (yes it is ironic, but not meant as a pun). What could be more political than leaving one country to start another? Even if the idea was to just practice religion it is in our natural evolution to become political and power hungry. (side note; keep your head down and be safe, do look into some of the history while your there if you can, with my position I was able to do that and it help to understand the people by knowing the history, you will see your supported by the citizens a lot more than the press would let you belive.) 16. I use GatorZ for work and for play. I like them because they are built a bit sturdier. The Wiley-X is plastic and tend to break in rough environements. The Army even has a plan to test the GatorZ as a replacement for the Wiley-X (but don't tell any one) An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. Point taken, I could have been clearer with the term "fighter". But I know your able to still undertsand where I was trying to go with it. I don't always agree with ya but I do respect the effort you put in to making your points, and find that your criticism is quite constructive (seriously). 18. I am kind of partial to the container the150 is in. But hey we can work out the finite details Friday. After puttin' a few extra pounds in the permanent freefall belt the 135 will be a bit zippy! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  21. Dedicated, fanatic or Extremist. I go with extremist. Why? I was in Iraq and other places. The "fighters" I talked to for the most part (low guess easliy over 60%) did not come from the country we happened to be in. Most had little knowledge of the world events prior to their capture. They did know of the World Trade Center and Pentagon, but very oblically. Most of their knowledge was also very one sided and out right false (I think that even the most jaded anit-GWOT wound agree if they could read or listen to some of the interviews). According to most of the ones I spoke to the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks where a "counter attack", some even believed it to be for the '91 Gulf War. We where attacked (and will be attacked again) because in the Extremists mind we "Infidels" have our position, success and freedoms at the expense of the Muslim world. Yes the Koran is written peacfully and if the "fighters" all had the literacy skills we in this forum have we would more than likely get along fairly well. I am not saying that Muslims ar not educated, but that the "fighters" are not properly educated. (yes I will concede it is the "propoganda education" that we use to a degree too) I do not think we attack them do to their dedication to the "cause", I think we attack them to avoid losing more inocent people in an attack against the peace loving members of the world. If you accept (just for the point of the agrument) that the "fighters" that are being killed are not all Iraqi, than maybe we could look at the situation in a different light. Are the Iranian, Syrian, Turkish, Suadi, Kuwaiti, Lybian, etc. etc. "fighters" who are being killed defending their family? their way of life? or trying to keep the "infidels" from spreading to their country? Several I talked to actually believe we are trying to take over the whole middle east and delete the Muslim Religion. I believe this is due to the education (prpoganda) they recieved from the "extremists" who recruited them. Hope fully we can get a better policy and better understanding of the world and act properly, before we end up tearing our selves apart. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 22. Is he serious? Or is this a PR stunt? Actor ok, politicain? I dunno. I would need more than some movie credits to see if he would be worth the vote. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. Killians Irish Red, cold. I'll be there thursday Night. All the rigs are 101st Rigs so you'll have to be on your best ABN/AASLT behavier. Is the 135 in your canopy control range? (I am not being an ass) An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. "America is the cuase of the terror." This seems to be a favorite statement by many, but it is wrong. Extremists are the cause of the terror. America (and every other "infidel" hosting country) is the Target of Terror. It has been that way since the "founding" or defining of religion and Americas attempt to freely excerises thier rights to practice any religion. Americans should be proud. Their ancestors took action and made a better life for them selves. They could have stayed where ever they happened to live and been non-existant in the history of the world. Yes, this action did comeat the expense of the Native population of North America and it is a regretable note in history. They made a decision and acted, with the goal of a better life.
