  1. Ok so what went down? Any thing that can be "leaked"?
  2. Dave jumps the Sigma. If packed (read closed) correctly (and it is not easy to screw it up, the pins that is) the Drogue has a "safety pin" that keeps the closing pin in place until the drogue is set. Only then can the closing pin actually be pulled and the opening sequence started. It is realy quite enginious. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. Only 804 Tandems as an "I" here (45 as a passenger on other rigs too). I go back and forth between the Sigma and Vector II Tandem a bit. I too position the handles so they are nearly identical from rig to rig. I haven't had a handle pulled in the plane yet (knocking on wood). I have had a canopy ride from 9000' . The student thought the "hang loose" was "pull". They weren't even supposed to pull, they just eves dropped on the AFF class going on next to us, and bada bing, they got to fly the canopy all the way to final. Ya should have seen the look on the vidiots face, it was almost as good as the look on my face when I saw the cable go by my face, there was no trouble reading my lips when we hit the "trap door". Ah good times, good times,. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. The under Armor isn't a bad idea. Just look at the forcast and then factor a little wind chill of course. I have several hours there in the past from this time of the year and always got along good with a little cold gear under the suit (Michigan RW). I did the under amror leggings and top with a mock turtle neck and was just fine torso wise. I have seen several people bundle up like they happened to be jumping the north pole and others in shorts. No matter what the hands always got a bit of a chill to them. Biggest thing is dress like you would be jumping in that weather and you should be comfy. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. I wouldn't be able to go further west! Seriously I did look at a few of the current attrractions and fell that the many amusment parks near Luoiville KY and the Fastraxx team would be a start. But it isn't my idea or tunnel, just my opinion. We know what the ysame about opinions. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  6. Ok, so it was a bit forward. The internet is like booze, you get a little gutsier with each round. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  7. Beezy Shaw or George Galloway would be the experts there. I did watch Beezy pack a smaller Bat Wing (I am pretty sure it was a Bat Wing) in Monroe GA a few years ago using the "phsyco pack" also known as the "precision pack". You can find the info on the Precision web page. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. Would "ME" be a bit forward?
  9. This and if "Mac and Chees" is better with water or milk to mix the powdered chees up. I am still undecided. With a 10 year daughter, I wonder if the old man did go to Narnia through the warddrobe. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  12. I agree with the yellow ribbon thing with a few exceptions. A serviceman or woman's family has "earned" the right to slap one on a car. After all that was the original idea behind them 65 years ago. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

    YAY!

He won the case with the FAA on his side the whole time. The FBO manager was just being pushed around by a rich dude who thinks he should get a private airport on our tax dallor, since he is wealthy. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. It is simple. The hip conections on tandem systems are right on top of the students hips. The ball joint socket that the leg pivots in is below those conections. Put your rig on and look at where the top of the junction for your leg strap to main lift web is. You will be able to move your legs freely while holding the horizontal and verticle pieces of webbing above the leg straps still. The same for a student harness in tandems. Ab muscles are prety strong and old habits in high stress situations are over riding even after extensive training. Aside from calm passnegers, good training and strapping their legs back they can do this every time if they want. Even with real tight hip conections the human bodies geometry will allow the legs to drop low with little effort. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. My knowledge of tree flexability and soil taste is why I went to the AMA nad WERA to road race. But soon enough the "Teens" just kept passing my aging butt, so now a ride on the weekends is just as much excitement on two wheels as ever for me. An Instructors first concern is student safety. YAY!

After our nice 1" to 2 " of snow last night I head out side with my daughter to make a few snow balls. Well, she had already escalated this arms race by making a cache while I was in the shower! Addditionally she had formed an alliance with her two friends! I come out the door and step into the open, POW! right in the right eye! If I ddin't have the GatorZ's I would have been done. POW! POW! POW! many hits if it wasn't for the Z's and the North Face Fleece, I would have beed defeated right then and there! Now I am getting hit from 3 sides! Being and old Paratrooper I am used to being surrounded. I took many hits but I dentified the week point of my enemies line. I bellowed and charged (some time phsycological warfare is needed), quickly I broke through and captured the cache of snow balls, then I had little trouble defeating the 2 traitors who formed the alliance (I had a deal with them yesterday, but the hot coco apparantly wasn't as good as the waffles SHE brought in to thier deal). She is a good politician and has had me wrapped around her little finger for 11 years. She can be down right rotten too! Thats my girl! OK, so this is different than my earlier post about staying warm. Leave to the kids to show ya fun! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. No, I KNOW I am not the object of your post. I will how ever post some responses from my experinces and based on my opinion (that is after all what this is for, right?) I also KNOW many world class jumpers (and world class citiezens who are not world class jumpers, yet) who have and do serve. Many of the jumpers you look up to here, are former SEALs, SF, Rangers, Paratroopers, Pathfinders, Force Recon, PJ's, SPs and the list goes on. They serve/ed in WW II, Korea, Viet Nam, Grenada, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Samolia, Kosavo, and of course on our 4 fronts right now. Some served in a drafted military and others in the volunteer military. I think the Volunteer is better (JMO). But all genarations served very admirably. The military can always use more good men and women to help out. But you or I posting while angry wont help. I also think re-enstating a draft wont help, I wouldn't want some one to be next to me on the field who didn't have beleife in what they are doing (not the political part, theserves part). The "Insurgents are winning" is just sensationlism media. According to CENTCOM the insugency has been reduce from 12 provinces in Iraq to 4 during the last 18 months. (from GEN Abizaids public speach last December to Cadets at a University that excapes me right now). The events in Iraq will have our invovlment for many years to come, no getting around it. The Iraqi citizens make up less and less of the Insurgency. The political ramifacations will continue to devide people and political parties here in the US and abroad. Use your own filiters, be glad we can talk about it and voice opinions publicaly. Thank You for your service and your expresions. Thank You for continueing to serve through you efforts to aide service members. Now I will leave you to go throw snow balls at my daughter
  18. You may find a few responses are directed at YOUR lack of Indentity. Don't rell me what or what not to do. I will hold my head high and keep my grin, many have tried to remove it on several occasions but yet it still happens to be where I was born with it.
  19. Was this in an interview? I have read his book but don't recal it there. I am sure it has some context to be placed in and not just the POTUS declaring martial law one day. POTUS: "Morning Laura" Larura: "Morning, what do you have planned for the day?" POTUS: "Oh I just called Dick and Rumy and declared Martial Law. Do you want Orange Juice with your toast?" As for "American Insurgents" on American soil get real. With the exeption of a few Armed Militias we will be to happy to ignore the happenings as long as we are not personaly affected. That seams to be a big part of our cosiety now a days, 'Talk' but don't "Walk". JMO An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

    YAY!

Paris is JR's (Johnny Reyes) place, Orly is out East I beleive. JR has been hoping to be at full swing in the spring. He has used Cambden a few times but it a haul to load the plane fly it down unload it and run the DZ and then do it all again the next day. The Demo Team uses Outlaw Field here in Clarksville most of the time. You see "Cowboy" or "DZ mama" tell 'em I say "Hi" An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

    YAY!

Sounds a bit Minnie Pearl-ish to me. I haven't jumped in Tullahoma since late '99 (?), well that is not totally true I did a Demo at the High School just off the Airport the Weekend of the Fly in the fall of '04. I do jump the Coliseum a bit. I am the one who had the cut away near the "bat man" building and put his freebag on the paddle boat during the Titans/Miami Game in 2001. The Missus works at the Opry Mills Mall from time to time, and when she does some times the kid and I drop in. Mostly I jump in Paris TN, I do Tandems, Coached jumps and teach Coach, and SL-I courses. Drive Safe tonight! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Hey y'all should have kept this batch that just blew in to Kentucky. I like the warmer places my self, but I was born in "ha-vi-ee" and later grew up in mid Cali. I liek to ski, but I am a fair weather skier I gave up the extreme cold stuff after 3 years in Alaska. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. Louisville KY Cincinatti OH Indi IN Those would be good locations in my opinion. Fastraxx could be the RW coaches in those sights, Chicago's Freeflyers would be close too. Ft Campbell KY's military would be within driving range and they have a need for a 14' and powerful design (180 mph winds with good lift). Again just my Opinion, but if I had the cash one would be in Louisville already. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
