Since the whole idea is not new to the US, maybe the RNC-DNC argument isn't valid? If I am not mistaken England had a system like this for traffic violations 8-10 years ago? How has this worked/not-worked for them? And I saw on a TLC or Discover type channel, that this was started 1 presidency prior in several "test" locations. As I dislike each party equally, I think WE THE PEOPLE need to do some thing about our freedom. Lets start with the next vote! An Instructors first concern is student safety. If your going to re-class and are headen to the ITB, forget about it. You might get one 3 day pass in the whole deal. Now after graduation, take litle leave and tour the GA DZ's on your way to your next assignment. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

There are planty of active jumpers there. Go to Thamaston and you will see the Post Team Training. Go to Opelika and you will see many a former Ft.Benning-ite jumping too. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

No doubt hard openings are "normal" on the MC series parachutes. After all we are talking 500' exits in "real use" at 135 to 150 knots (normally close to 150 in combat). The newer MC-1D seams to address this and opens better, but still stiff. What about borrowing from history and putting the old "loops and rings" (I think thats the name or some thing like that) on and helping out the openning? MC-1D open at 150 (+or-) mph daily here and no one complains about 'em (more so than normal). Ted Strong can hook you up, I think I saw some thing in his trailer a few years ago that is what your looking for. A quasar with squar reserve and round main. It was probably a Set-10, just guessing. Talk to Ted. I am sure if he built the canopy he can build the container. No one will question ya, we always need a new brother or sister in the loony bin. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I don't know. It is some thing I have seen, but not used myself. I wouldn't think it took any more force than if the stow was placed on the side in the "convetnional" style of line stows. I just thought the discriptions in some posts happen to be refering to this and not the locking stow that closes the split bags. Buy the time the locking stow is payed out the bag should be well away from the jumpers back. I am not a master rigger, our builder of rigs, just a user. I took Wendy's photo and added the stow point I have seen before. I have seen this type of stow set up on a few "modified" d-bags out there. I am sure it is not "new" but it seems to be a better representation of what is being described in some posts. MO; it makes the ends of the risers terminate at the same length when your finished packing. The draw back; it makes the top of the riser turn toward the center of the bag and could add to the canche of the riser catching on the bottom of the reserve. Personnally, I follow the books for the various rigs, but that is because I got to do the Examiner Course in DeLand and sat with you, Tk and Marc, and learned more than just Tandems "Ins and Outs". Is it "funny" to push somebody out of the door?
matthewcline replied to The111's topic in Safety and Training
NO! it is not funny. It almost happened to me and my team mates one time. I looked below and we happened to be well down wind, over the city (3 miles + or - from the DZ). I held up my hand and held my team mates to their seats, a staffer decided to "help me" to the door, I saw him comming and just stepped to the back of the otter and watched him freefall away. His group chased him out the door and all 6 landed in the city, 1 with a pretty badly sprained ankle. Spot people. It is better than riding an ambulance or going to your own funeral. Green only means the pilot thinks your good to exit, you need to KNOW your good to exit. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -

Hey All, I just got off the phone with Max. He is doing well. His surgeries have gone well and he is looking forward to the tough, but goal filled, road ahead. He says many thanks to all who have written here, PM'ed, E-mailed and called. Hopefully Mrs. Ramsey will post soon and tell us more. She is there with him every day, day and night. Mrs. Ramsey you have my deepest respect. If I can help from FTCKY don't hesitate to call, Max has the number. If things work out Max will post soon too. He is getting some tests and screans done today and the usuall check ups after surgey. (not trying to sound benign, but Max is pretty "yeah what ever" about it himself) You all have incourage him so much that between you and his family he will be up and RUNNING (his words and idea) real soon. We have a plan standing buy for his jump return here, unless he chooses a different route and we will support that too. (but since he wants to still be a part of the Demo Team and I am the "Boss" , OK, just kidding, its his call) Thank You, An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Like Sid said, a good stretch will help, we even do a little warm up excersis or two, but we are military team so it is kind "normal" for us. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I spoke with Max last night and the Boss this AM. Max still has a Demo Team job and he is looking forward to jumping. I am glad for him that so many of you have sent well wishes. He will be jumping with any and all who will let him soon. I think we will have to get him ready for a world record in CA this fall. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Ok every one Max says THANK YOU! He is in damn fine spirits. He doesn't have net access yet but hopes to be able to leave his bed by the end of the week and get to log on to dz.com, so keep em coming. He said he will deffinetly be back in the sky! He has more surgery tomorrow. He lost his left leg just above the knee and had his right ankle broken pretty good. He has to have the ankle fixed (pins) and a little "clean up" (his words) surgery. He may be at WR for up to 5 months doing Phys rehab. But he is upbeet. We talked for about 30 minutes and he is happy to know that his friends are thinking about him and encouraging him. Thank You for taking your time for him. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

PFC Maxwell Ramsey, who posts as "Gawain" here, has lost his leg in and ambush in Iraq. He is a member of the US Army's 101st ABN at Ft. Campbell and was to be slotted to the 101st Demo Team upon his return from his deployment. His Demo Team slot is still his. I ask all of you to help me pick his spirits up. He is at Walter Ried going through the difficult task of surgery and fitting of a prosthetic leg. Lets all send him PM's and well wishes. He has felt bummed about maybe not being able to jump and I know we can help to stay in the air. Thank You, An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I raced in B, C, D and Twins Sport and Superbike. I raced a GSXR-750 in B and later a ZX-7. In C I had a 600 Ninja (pre-ZX days) In D I raced a 250 Ninja. I had a VF 500 Interceptor I ran too, but it was more for fun than any actual competitivenes. I ran the 250 in the Twins buta gain just for fun. I built a VFR1000RF for the Track but never got cleared to race it. Back to the original post. Lane splitting allows the Bike to get away but is far riskier than pulling over and accepting the ticket. I would imagine even more costly if something goes wrong. I did my stupid stuff when young too. But I learned with our the pain of a wreck. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
