Try being the DZSO on a Brigade Mass Tac (3500 jumpers at night). Easily 5 helmets get launched at ya! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Can you explain how it will fix that a bit more? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

The New "ACH" is quickly becoming the Helmet of choice for ALL the Army. No Special mods are done to it, it was designed to work from the begining. You can find them in many of the Military Surplus/equipoment catolags. Most of the units that Jump are already converted to the new helmet. An Instructors first concern is student safety. The meaning is different for me each and every day. Each day I am faced with some challenge of sorts that can (and usually does) require a sacrifice by me. Service men and women who serve their respective nation, sacrifice their personnal safety and risk their personnal well being EVERY day they serve or did serve. I do not think it should matter if they volunteered or where drafted, they sacrifice the same to me. They do so knowing that a possabilty exists to make "the ultimate sacrifice". The men and women who joined the service in the US after Sept. 11th in somes opinion may have risk more since they new they would join in a fight over seas. I say that there are plenty who sacrifice ever day, even not in uniform, when they could choose an easier path. Those who serve their country, community and church, with out aspirations of riches or fame are ones who sacrifice to me. There are plenty of people who even serve there country out of uniform who deserve respect too. I do not think we should limit this to a "the military only sacrifices" issue. When a Nation goes to war, it is the WHOLE Nation that goes, either in person or in spirit. Some body knows some one, either married, son, daughter, father, mother, aunt, uncle, grandfather or grandmother, who is in the war. Do not ever think you did not truly sacrifice for others Max. You are a clear example of what most here would call "one who has sacrificed". The timing of your joining the Army, the service you given so far, the injury you sustained and the stress your family has endured is impossible to fully repay. I am proud to be a member of the same Division your in becuase of you and your fellow Soldiers. Yes, I do beleive you have sacrificed and need not worry what others think, including me. You protect the right to let me speak and the right to ignore me. Thank You, to both you and your Wife! I know she has sacrificed too! An Instructors first concern is student safety. It was a joke, I have them in our smoke bunker connex on Fort Campbell. We use the mfor all our day time ABN OPS. Technically speaking I am licensed t ohave as much as I can draw from the Ammo Supply Point. It is early/late (depends on your point of view) so it didn't go over as funny as it could have. If your going to use the tunnel to help in your skydiving use AAC or Orlando. Orlando has few free coaches and all of them are pretty damn good from my experience. AAC has an outstanding coach, but I do not know the ins and outs for their program. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Why do Army Rangers jump round parachutes?

And add the SLCP MIRPS reserve. Ah modernization! Actually these two new advents are pretty good for mass drops and borrow pretty good stuff from the faster evolving civilian market. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
"Style"...Anyone do it anymore?
matthewcline replied to steve1's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Style and Accuracy is still a National and International event at various meets. In the US both Military Academies field a Team as well as the Army's Golden Knights Team. There are several events that focus on Style and Accuracy (maybe more on accuracy now, PK Platter and Lew Sanborn Meets come to mind). It is rare maybe, but still out there. Is the bes tman a Demo Pro rated Jumper? How about the Brother of the groom or bride? You can always have 2 Demo Pro rated jumpers follow you in to the landing area and get the same efect. After all wouldn't you rather be standing at the reception explaining why you didn't use smoke, than laying in the ER saying "I do"? I have a few Demo's under my belt and my second cut away was on a Demo with smoke, smoke is not to be taken lightly, nor any other apperatus we add to the jump. Congrats and happy nuptuals! First reserve ride was around 1400 jumps, a tension knot that was caused by my hurried and sloppy packing. Next one was around 1500 jumps, a horse shoe mal that was again my fault (bad body position due to complacency). I got my bridal and a few lines caught on my smoke bracket, during a live demo. i cleared the risers and fired the reserve a bit low but landed on the 50 yard line infront of the Titans and Steelers any way. Powell stated in the first election he was on for only 1 term. He did dissagree and if he hadn't had the 1 term plan maybe he would have been fired or "encouraged" ro re-retire, like some other Generals have done. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I had my surgey done here at FTCKY. I chose lasik since the long term results appeared to be the same (the "flap" will eventually shrink and form to the lens from what the 3 doctors told me, 2 Civilians and 1 Army) and Iwas not headed to SOF or Pilot Training. The Army won't allow lasik if going into a SOF MOS or School, and in certian situations for Pilots. It was a big change and I am glad I did it. Not having to fumble around for glasses in the middle of the night during a rocket attack or two in Iraq was a plus. Additionally being able to jump with "regular" goggles or with out and use sun glasses or a bettter fitting full face is a pleasure. An Instructors first concern is student safety. I'll go with Lou on this one. I used to get $25 ($35 if I pack it) a tandem using the DZ rigs. Now as a rig owner I get $75 ($65 if the DZO/packers pack for me). So now I can earn 3 times the income in a day. In one day of work I have earned back 1/7th of my investment. In eight days I will be earning profit and setting aside maintenance funds (I use $10 a jump, better high than low). You can always work out an individual contract with the DZO if the current offer is to low in the T-I's opinion, it might not work, but how do you know if you don't ask? I would vote for Colin Powell. He (like Me) doesn't care for either the RNC or DNC and wants to see the country run by the people not school trained polititcians. But I think this time he will keep his promis to his wife and stay home. Damn it! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

To the ladies here that have had Lasik, I have a question
matthewcline replied to fireflytx's topic in The Bonfire
When I first saw this thread title I had to wonder given the recent "sex" oriented titles. I imagined "To the Ladies here that have had Lasik, I have a question...Does it look smaller?". Maybe it is just a personnal fear. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
