Ah, good. Yet more thoughtful and insightful commentary. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

We should start a "Skydiver seeks" thread. This alone made me laugh my ass off. You know you're a skydiver when... you trust total strangers with your life, as long as they agree to not have sex with you. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Ultraviolet light causes sunburn, not heat. That said, I agree, a hot shower will hurt like a sumbitch. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Well, it's amazing. I really wish I knew what we were talking about... Edit: oh, the balloon walk. Pretty neat, but a waste of a balloon ride. Jump, man, jump! Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Well, there's no such thing as an ex-skydiver. Besides, you can always come home (to the DZ).

It to try to get your homemade contraption as far horizontally off the ledge as possible, right? Looks like a heck of a lot of fun. a watermelon and grape sandwich? You Canucks ARE wierd. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

I dunno, an otter with 24 is pretty darn cramped. Your legs (and other body parts) can definitely get squashed. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Unfortunately, there's one more thing you have to do to ensure that this rig is totally safe and airworthy, and that's to send it to me IMMEDIATELY so I can jump it several times... I would hate to see you hurt yourself on a new rig that hadn't been appropriately screened. Oh, and by "several times" I mean several hundred jumps. Your safety is first and foremost in my mind, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing you were jumping that dangerous piece of equipment. Seriously, tho.. that is one nice rig. If I had the money I'd buy the exact same thing. Those odysseys are comfy, and you just can't go wrong with PD. Have fun with it, eh? I wouldn't worry, the Bushes know how to take care of family.. Oh crap, now this thread is going to be moved to Speaker's Corner... That poor Otter... what did she ever do to hurt anyone? All she ever did was spread joy and happiness by letting crazy people jump out of her... Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

I've got 50 and I'm still jumping alone for the most part. Not only becuase I want to, but because that's what my instructors and S+TA told me to do. Their opinion is that it is a good idea to have at least one person in the air know what they're doing and can get the hell away if and when the noob screws up. A license doesn't directly relate to skill. So yeah, your friends might be able to jump safely together and have a lot of fun, but it's probably not as safe as jumping with more experienced people. Momentum=mass x velocity. And you have to keep in mind relative velocity, too. You're falling, it's just falling faster. If you were on the ground and got hit by a falling hook knife you'd be seriously hurt or killed. Just for a lark, I filled out the compatability test. Here's what I got. I think I'm in love. Hans of Hannover Germany "German sailor seeks mermaid".. During my long hours out at sea I often wonder if my soulmate is near or far. I have been successful at werk but not in love. Yes, I've had too much schnitzel but I have a sexy attitude and I'm not shy about my body. No knowledge comes without pain. Good it's just badly scraped knees and a bruised ego. Heal, then try that landing again, huh?

So who is this Entropy person? I've been trying to meet her for years, but I'm too disorganized to actually set up a date... A great deal of their music is revolution in a shiny package with a bow. If you really listen to it, meaning not having it on while you do the dishes, meaning sitting down and doing nothing but hearing and trying to understand the music, you'll see that it's challenging you the listener to something greater. I find it not soothing at all. I find it inspiring and challenging and difficult, which is what makes it so great. Okay, a bit of a rant there. Music snob be I. I'd WEAR panties for a Klondike bar. And then throw them on the stage, of course. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want He makes me down to lie Through pastures green he leadeth me the silent waters by With bright knives he releaseth my soul He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places He converteth me to lamb cutlets For lo, he hath great power and great hunger When cometh the day we lowly ones Through quiet reflection and great dedication Master the art of karate Lo, we shall rise up And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water. Sigh... where's a greenie when you need one? There's no reason, here's my point, Dude, there's no f'in reason why they should come into your house and pee on your f'in rug. Also, Dude, Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.
