Last season, especially the end, pretty much sums up the relationship between Palmer and Logan; its obvious why he can't go to Logan directly. The friendship with the "unstable wife" is simply a plot device- a good one really, but in theory, Palmer could have gone to Mike. I think the end of last season also established that the other aid, Walt? was dirty and manipulating Logan. (Logan isn't bad per se, he's stupid and arrogant, and that makes him very easy to manipulate.) If I'm not mistaken, he's the same guy who ordered the "hit" on Jack. Palmer found out and warned him, which is why they faked his death. Look for Aaron (the secret service guy) and Mike to be the ones who help unravel the deception from the inside by secretly helping the first lady. Mike still has a lot to atone for and Aaron's just a good guy.

He's like another Chapelle. He isn't dirty, he means well, but he gets too caught up in the bureaucratic BS and his own power trip to be really effective, PLUS he hasn't given himself over to the phenomenom known as Jack Bauer just yet. Chapelle was starting to come around before Jack had to kill him.......

Cloe has grown on me so much since season 3. She's become one of my favorite characters and that scene was classic. But of course that's one of the ongoing themes each season. Jack does the right thing and gets the job done, but he ALWAYS has to work around protocol and bureaucratic nonsense to do it. What I can't believe is that it took some "by the book" geek to figure out what Jack was trying to tell them. Tony would have known in a heartbeat just from the tone of Jack's voice. (Anyone want to place bets on how soon after surgery he's up and around helping Jack chase the bad guys?)

What's really funny is that last season, Buchanon was the guy from "division" who was brought in to supervise the person in charge of CTU- Michelle, brought in to replace Erin. So it looks like he was demoted, and he's being demoted again. I think they did the same thing with Chapelle in season 3 (he was the division guy from season 2, running CTU in season 3) and George from Season 2 who was the division guy from Season 1 and took over running CTU from Jack. Running CTU doesn't seem to be a very good career move.

Actually, the shovel scenario happened on 24 last season!

I think it may be tied in to the first season, since both Palmer and Jack were once again targetted in pretty much the same way. (Jack set up to take the fall for Palmer's assassination.....)

Yes, Logan seems to have only gotten more stupid and more arrogant in the past 18 months. Gee, that's not realistic at all!
  8. Some people seem to feel that PMs are the place for nasty personal attacks that they can't get away with posting in the forums. Strange but true........

Its actually kind of cool that they did that-just a little 5 minute scene that bridges the two seasons. There's even a pretty involved car chase.

If you had the Season 4 DVDs, you would know that Cloe had been in contact with Jack as recently as 6 months earlier, AND that they both knew his "secret" was out. So, you could argue that he was ready and waiting for that call from Cloe, especially in light of what had happened earlier. And sure, the timeline is ridiculous and Jack NEVER goes to the bathroom or eats OR gets stuck in traffic, but he's JACK so we just let that go...... And yes, my prediction is there will be at least 2 crazy mofos chasing the bad guys this season.

You should get the season 4 DVDs- great stuff on the bonus disc. A prequel to this season, plus a lot of questions are answered in the extended/ deleted scenes. (Did you wonder whatever happened to Behrooz?) One of the better dvd collections as far as I'm concerned, since they really do give you more than you can see on TV. And about Kim (Elisha Cuthbert)- the only season she was really annoying in was season 2, which was probably the worst season of the show anyway. And I blame the writers for that, not the actress- how many times in a 24 hour period can one character be held hostage or placed in peril by entirely different people AND a mountain lion? I actually liked her in Season 3 which was supposed to be 3 years later anyway- enough time for her to go back to school and get her life together. And even with that, they made it pretty clear that everyone thought she was only there as a favor to Jack- her coworkers were pretty tough on her. And that 3rd character in critical condition after the first 5 minutes of the show? (Not naming names since I don't want to spoil anything......) I predict that by hour 6 he'll be back on his feet working with Jack to get the bad guys.
  12. Actually, I can't remember the last time I went to donate in Illinois and that question wasn't asked. They also ask about IV drug use, prostitution, travel outside the US and many more questions. Every year LifeSource adds more questions and more reasons to defer potential donors, but I don't see how that can be considered discrimination. Instead, it is an overreaction going back about 20 years ago when blood collection agencies failed to adequately screen blood donors and their product, resulting in people contracting HIV and hepatitis after receiving blood transfusions. It seems kind of odd that this is just now becoming an issue in SA when its been an issue here for 20 years or so. And it IS a shame when you know there is a shortage, but they won't take your blood because of where you have travelled or your sexual orientation.
  13. You're not stupid. There is a logic to it. It helps me to work in grids and also one number at a time. I still suck at it though!
  14. OK, earnest money matters once you are past the attorney approval and inspection periods. I guess I should have been more specific; it does depend on the contract. And I know someone who got cold feet after making an offer on what would have been their first house. Totally panicked and did not think they could afford it after going through the numbers one more time. Major buyer's remorse. With a little help from a friendly boss, they managed to get their pre-approved financing declined and got out of the contract with their earnest money. This was in Texas, and happened several years ago! And yes, in your case, maybe the cop was right, but you were probably smart not to buy from a psycho regardless.
  15. Earnest money doesn't matter. Most contracts have an "attorney approval period" which gives the buyer time to back out for any reason. It sucks but it happens. Hey, when I was looking for a place, I ended up backing out on the first contract I signed because of inspection issues. My seller was pissed too, but I know I did the right thing.
  16. What about gas and wear and tear on your car? OOOPS, I see someone else had the same thoughts.
  17. Next time I want whipped cream licked out of my butt crack, I know who to call! Who knew you were such a kind and generous soul?
  18. Yeah, funny how one dose can knock you out, but a second will keep you up all night. I'd disregard trhe suggestion of adding Benedryl to the mix. That would probably just make things worse.
  19. Is there actually a seasonal DZ in Puerto Escondido? I thought they only went there for the Christmas/ New Year's boogie and Santa Semana.
  20. Head on a platter? For a dumb joke? Come on! I think most people agree that detaining and questioning her was appropriate. The real issue is the length of time she was detained and the high bail when a simple test could and should have been done to prove her story.
  21. For what its worth, I'm with you. I've been to parties with male strippers but I would not be happy or amused if one did that to me.
  22. To a certain extent, I agree with the senator. It really depends on the girl's intent- funny looking "stressballs"? Did she really not know what airport security would think? I think its similar to pulling a false fire alarm, and similar penalties should apply. She did divert the security staff, whether it was intentional or not. That said, if there was no adequate "field test", the material should have been tested in a lab before 3 weeks were allowed to pass with this girl incarcerated.
