Well, I never watch the results shows but I did flip over when Mandisa was singing her farewell song. Who else was in the bottom 3? Paris should have left last night for sure. She was BY FAR the worst Tuesday night, really really awful. But, don't feel too bad for Mandisa because I think Barry Manilow already offered her a job! She's already a seasoned performer and I think she'll do OK. Plus, from what I saw of it- what a gracious exit!
-
OK, while we are at it- what was up with Ryan's little interview with Kellie before her song? "Yes, I really am a dumb hick!" a) I STILL think its an act and b) are they going to dedicate a few minutes of each show to dispel some internet rumor about one of the contestants?
-
Wow- I thought Kellie's performance was just mediocre karaoke last night. The only two worth watching were Katharine and Chris. Does anyone remember Tom from Survivor Africa and all stars? Watching Bucky last night made me think of him. Tom had this thick heavy drawl and no one could understand a word he said- last night, Bucky was a singing version of Tom! But the one who really needs to go tonight is Paris! She just butchered that song!

I'd have to measure again, but the Costco stuff was about half the price of Pergo and near as I can tell, every bit as good.
-
The fact that carpet traps dirt, dust and hair is exactly why I hate it. I've got allergies and I'd much rather see what I'm breathing in! I've got all wood floors in my house and finished the basement with Costco's laminate flooring. It took me and a carpenter friend one day to do my whole basement, and another day to do all the trim around the baseboard. It looks great, its easy to maintain and it really wasn't that hard, especially if you are comfortable with power tools. I think I spent about $1,200.00 on the flooring itself, and I did have to pay for the professional help with the install but that's because a) I needed it done in a hurry and b) my SO and I would have killed each other if we attempted it together. eeneR- If I were you, I'd work on bribing friends with food, tequila and whatever else you think will work.

Flonase works great for me. Singulair works really well too. (Flonase is a nasal spray, Singulair is a once a day pill.) You need to take them for a few days before they become fully effective, but I've noticed a difference with both on the first day and you should not need to "spike" them with anything else. Sometimes with the prescription antihistimines, you need to change them up because you develop a tolerance for them, so you might even try Allegra or Zyrtec again. That's worked for me in the past, anyway! Good luck! Oh, and most of the OTC stuff has too many side effects to use during the day if you need to be productive. There's a reason benadryl is the main ingredient in most OTC sleep aids!

Whatever Lisa- you know exactly what I was saying and you just like to argue with me. Different body types carry weight differently- we both know that!
-
That's exactly what he was implying, like she doesn't look like she weighs a WHOPPING 145 pounds, like 145 pounds is huge or something. Like I said, just plain dumb and more ignorant and insulting to women in general than to Andrea in particular. There's just way to much pressure on women these days to fit into some unrealistic height and weight charts so we all look like anorexic heroin addicted super models or something. I'm 5'4" and 145 is a good, healthy THIN weight for me. I only wish I weighed that now!
-
As a woman, I'm a little offended by the thread, but it really shows the ignorance of the original poster more than anything else. The implication is that 145 pounds is somehow FAT or something, and that's just plain dumb.
-
That's classic Simon. He's done that ever since I've been watching the show. With the yonger performers, he'll put them down one week simply for being too young and when they go for a more mature look or sound the following week, he tells them they aren't being themselves.
-
I give up on predicting that stuff. I do think Elliot will leave soon, but maybe not tonight. I just don't see him as a fan favorite. He's a jazz singer, he's older and he's odd looking. Lisa is a cute young girl, and she's usually got a decent voice, but after two weeks in the bottom 3 and a bad performance, tonight might just be her night to go home. And obviously, Paris doesn't irritate the rest of the country as much as she does me! I think Bucky and Elliot will leave before Paris, unfortunately.
-
I like Katharine, but I didn't like her last night. I thought her vocals were way off. Plus I prefer when she just sings- last night I got the impression she was trying to show off her range and professional training. When the opera singer did that, she got the boot. And I just can't stand Paris even though she can sing and did well last night. (She looked a little unsteady trying to dance on those heels last night- like she got into her mom's shoes again!) And you are correct- Paula seemed sober last night. Clear eyed, alert, coherent. Go figure. I wonder how long it will last. I got so bored with the show, I flipped to America's Next Top Model and missed most of Bucky's performance, but what I caught was surprisingly good. Elliot is talented, but I didn't like him last night. This time I'll go with Randy and say "Poor song choice". I thought maybe he'd put his jazzy spin on it and that's what he said he was going to do with it, but he didn't. All he did was make it more blah than the original. Ace with the scar thumping- WTF was up with that? The guy's pretty but dull and he's trying to come up with a "thing" that keeps him interesting. Ugh....... Simon wasn't wrong about Chris, he was honest. They don't want a real rocker on AI, and he was telling him he'd have to play their game if he wanted to stick around. (And the credit to Live for their arrangement of Walk the Line- too little too late. Not that the show cares- its Chris that looks bad.)
-
I actually thought Chris did a decent job with that song- a decent homage to Creed, if you will. Simon is such a hypocrite, though. They praise him for being a "rocker" and staying true to himself and when he attempts to actually sing rock, Simon puts him down and essentially says he's in the wrong competition. What they really want is a cleaned up pop imitation of a rocker. Someone more like Ace, I guess.
-
I agree- the show was just plain bad tonight. It was the first night I saw that Lisa was actually bad, not just dull. Even Mandisa was off- she just screamed through the whole performance. Randy kept harping on song choice, but I think a huge problem was the 45-60 second time limit. Those songs weren't meant to be chopped up like that, not that any are, but with the newer material it was really obvious. Maybe 21st century night should have been postponed to a later round when they can almost sing an entire song.
-
If that's true, your honey Chris should have spoken up when the judges were heaping the praise on him. Either it was an original arrangement or it wasn't. Funny though, I haven't heard of the band Live in ages- wasn't their big hit in the early 90s? edited to add- I feel kind of dumb because I was really impressed with that performance. I should have known American Idol would never allow one of their contestants to have any real creative control.
-
Sure, blame me! It was a lame episode, and the writers really are pushing the whole concept of "willing suspension of disbelief"! As someone who has been faithfully watching since the first season, I'm still holding out some hope that they are going somewhere with all this bs! And its still better than most of the other crap on tv!
-
Well, the writers created a reason that the agent would lie about Audrey. Part of me is kind of disappointed that Audrey ISN'T in on the plot. I could see them going with the whole "woman scorned" bit- like she knew he was alive the whole time, went a little nutty and wanted revenge. I really don't buy the one night stand with creepy Walt Cummings either. How on earth do you go from Jack to that? (insert puke icon here.......) OK- so nerve gas neutralized once and for all- now on to the REAL threat. Speculation here- they've already mentioned Nina Meyers several times- is it too much to hope for that they are FINALLY going to tie up that whole story line and reveal who she was really working for? The same people behind the current plot? The same people Robocop is working for? He did already drop some hints, right? And why bring in neurotic sexual harrassment girl at this stage? Haven't they had enough workplace drama for one season already, plus what's coming with Homeland Security taking over CTU?
-
votefortheworst.com??? Some say they are responsible for keeping Scott Savol around last year, and the red headed kid the year before that.
-
It pays well and its steady work. Really not a bad gig at all!
-
I think Ace will be on a soap opera by this time next year, and doing very well. He's a nice looking young man, but his voice doesn't cut it. I know there's an AI reject from a couple of seasons back on One Life to Live already.
-
I agree with you AND Simon about Taylor last night. Blah! Since there were a handful of really standout performances and he's NOT a teeny bopper or a hottie like Ace, a blah performance that doesn't showcase his talents will put him on the bubble with Bucky and Elliot. Lisa was just so so also, but she's a teeny bopper and she'll get through.
-
Have you noticed that when he can't really think of something good to say, he says, "You still my Dawg, though!" or "You're forever in the Dawg Pound!"? Kind of like when Paula tells the girls how pretty they look when they just made a disaster out of their performance? "Well, it was pitchy, but who cares? You look beautiful tonight and America loves you!"
-
I agree. Its actually uncomfortable to watch. Funny, because the original post in this thread was about Paula's bizarre behavior at one of the earlier elimination shows. Simon was egging her on that night, even getting her to say stupid things for his own amusement. (took a page out or Ryan's playbook there!) Now he just seems sick of her! If its a health problem, she should come clean with it, because she really just looks stoned and I've got to think chronic illness is a better sell to the public than drug addiction! If its raising eyebrows on this site, imagine the attention she's getting elsewhere.
-
Last night AGAIN she could barely sit up in the chair and her eyes were half shut! And with all the crap that went on about her last year-hit and run arrest, drug rumors, Corey Clark- one would *think* the producers would have insisted she get her act together this year if she wanted to keep her job. I was thinking a great idea for a drinking game would be to do a shot every time Paula punched Simon and a double every time Simon used the word "hideous"! But, with Paula behaving the way she is, everyone would be passed out before the 4th performer! (Randy says Dawg and Dawg Pound way to much to be a part of the game!)

Well, I still don't like JD but I think Marty Casey is better off making his own music with his own band. And touring with INXS can't hurt them much either!
