I was all ready to blast Edgar for once again taking the "Don't bother me, I'm far too busy" approach when someone brings him important information, but I guess this time he paid the ultimate price for it. I STILL think the key card scenario was beyond stupid. Anyone BUT McHobbit might not have reported it in an effort to save his own ass. Not McHobbit- they created an anal retentive by the books would turn in his own grandma character then had him drop the ball like that? Talk about a heavy handed plot device! Sure, it was a great two episodes but they needed to find another way to get the gas into CTU. My only complaint, but its a big one!
  2. I don't have mine yet, but I love the shot as a photograph and not just another picture of a big way. Its not always about counting the bodies or pointing out your slot to all of your buddies.
  3. "Anal Retentive Viagra Sucking Waste of Space" That's freakin' classic! You've got to give her some props for one of the best insults I've seen in a while. Of course, you both look pretty childish arguing like this on a public forum.
  4. What about TibFib? Or TriMal? Or Runway? The runway has claimed more than its share of tib/fib and femur injuries!
  5. Well, that's where they dropped the ball then, not with the cover. Me personally- I love the photo and think it totally belongs on the cover.
  6. I'm sure there's a centerfold shot as well- if there isn't there should be.
  7. Well of course, and that's how it should be. Its a skydiving magazine, this is a skydiving world record. ALL the records make the cover, and a milestone like this especially belongs there. I believe in the original post Chris asked if it needed to be on the cover, and I answered "yes"! I know we're getting a little jaded with all these new world records and all (yawn- another world record shot on the cover.....) but 400 is pretty important. Who knows if we'll ever make it to 500.
  8. I see your point, but I totally disagree. I think its a great photo BECAUSE of the composition- the distance from the formation and the "busy" background make the shot. There's something sort of awe inspiring about it, like the huge freefall formation is just part of the whole landscape. I don't think its ugly at all. And YES, it does have to be on the cover. Its not just any world record, its a milestone. Sure, the record will probably be broken in another 2 years, by 27 or something odd like that, but how long will it be before there's a 500 way?
  9. My pet peeve wuld be when someone pronounces Illinois the way the OP wrote it. Makes me cringe! Could very well be what eeneR was reacting to. Sometimes we can't help ourselves, and that isn't arrogance. Candace- I agree with Sunshine- you should look into Summerfest. Not the huge variety of aircraft or wild parties that is associated with WFFC and not as many venders/ reps if you are looking to demo or buy new gear, but is a safe, low key boogie and there are organizers for all levels, plenty of rental gear and post jumping activities planned for every evening.
  10. Obviously, I suck at prediciting this stuff, but I can't stand that Kelly chick and her sweet little country bumkin ohmygishijustatesquid routine. Her voice isn't that great, and the sweet blonde country singer idol has been done by two different shows already. I do give her props for have 500% more personality than Carrie Underwood, but you could also say that about a pet rock. Her personality with Carrie's voice might be a good combo, but I still think she can only do the sweet dumb country girl routine for so long before most of the country will want to puke as much as me! Ace- better looking than Constantine, more genuine, but after the other night, I have to say, the voice just isn't there. This will be a bad season for the over 25 crowd, including the supersized lady with the pipes. She'll make the finals, but she won't make the top 5. there are too many teenagers this year- they've already shown how the teens get the votes without the talent to back it up. The pretty young black girl who was in Lion King? She'll go pretty far- very talented, sweet, and a polished performer. Plus she's versatile- she can do more than just belt out some R&B. I only heard a small clip of the bald rocker dude and he was good- so was Bo Bice until Clive Davis got his hands on him. He should get while the getting is good!
  11. The ass grabbing and rolling around in the sand was a dead giveaway!
  12. I only flipped to it to see who got axed but I saw one bit where Paula was so obviously on something-slurring, unable to sit up let alone piece an entire coherent sentence together- it was kind of embarrassing. (Then again, so is admitting I give a shit about what happens on American Idol!)
  13. That Chicken Little bit got him enough sympathy to last one more week! I don't think he's cute at all. He gives me the creeps!
  14. Yawn! I thought you freeflyers were more creative than that! If you won't do brighter colors, maybe a different pattern? A little lesss like the fedex guy?

During the entire phone conversation between Logan and Martha when she was in the limo and he was telling her to leave, I kept saying- "What about the phone logs?" Since apparently there is no such thing as a private conversation. And what Aaron does WILL be interesting. His role in today's events is not done yet.

Yeah- been there done that too!
  17. Well, I read this a few months ago but I have to say The Kiterunner is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Great story, well written, characters that hold your interest throughout, not to mention the historical (recent) perspective it provides on Afganistan and the Taliban. But its not about that- its about friendship and honor and loyalty. Great read!
  18. There will be plenty going on on St. Patrick's day in Chicago. Are you kidding? In Chicago? The parade might be the weekend before, but that doesn't mean every bar won't be celebrating that night. Personally, I tend to avoid the crowds so I couldn't give you any specifics, but I can guarantee that the city will not be partied out!

I have the first 4 seasons on DVD also. If you time it right, you can get them for $30.00 or $40.00 at Costco- way cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else. (The trick is to buy them when they are in stock and on sale!) The DVD sets are cool because they do have some extra features- deleted scenes, interviews, and of course the mini "prequel" to the next season.

Exactly! Last year he was crying "Make it stop" until Palmer stepped in, made the hard choices and saved the day. Then Logan took all the credit and showed Palmer the door. And yes, I am getting a guilty kick out of the obvious shots at "real life"!

Oh, also, the terrorists are pissed that secret service was tipped off, and they still plan to release the nerve gas. You kind of figured that out, though, right? And Martha's not too happy the her hubby was going to sit back and let her die, but isn't that kind of her fault for assuming he'd do the right thing if he had a more personal motivation? I miss the repeats on FX too. I've been taking classes on Monday nights, and I pop the tape in as soon as I get home. But last week there must have been a slow night on FOX because they did rerun Monday's episode on Friday or Saturday night. Maybe they will this week too.

OK- short version. Logan realizes his wife is in the doomed motorcade with the Subarovs. He tries the "ordering" her out of the limo, but she's still trying to force some ethics on him and refuses. So, with Novick's "guidance" he decides doing nothing is the best course of action. That, and a bunch of whining, hand wringing and asking (then practically ordering) Novick to join him in prayer. Back at CTU, McHobbit is getting more and more paranoid, and Audrey has enlisted Cloe's and Edgar's assistance to keep up communication with Jack. Jack is headed to the place where the nerve gas was manufactured, which also happens to eb where his former boss works. Oh, and he caused said former boss to lose his job during an IA investigation shortly before Season One started, but said former boss-Robocop- still claims his innocence. Robocop agrees to help Jack but locks him in a room with a bomb instead and then escapes. Back at CTU, Edgar has picked up some internet chatter which indicates that the Russian president's motorcade is a target. He and Cloe bring it to McHobbit who refuses to listen, then he shuts down their systems so they can't warn anyone, and also fires someone else for no reason. Curtis finally grows a pair and takes over CTU, has Buchanon released and notifies secret service of the planned attack just secodns before its about to take place. SS manages to turn the motorcade around but the terrorists still attack. It looks for a minute like Aaron Pierce is going to buy it, but he comes around, leans out the limo and shoots the bad guys. Yea Aaron! My heart just sunk when I thought he was dead- he's become one of my favorite characters on the show. Previews for next week show Tony sitting up and bandaged- a little behind schedule for someone as tough as Tony, but maybe that 18 months away from CTU made him soft.

Was Pierce around during Season 1? The only thing that would have made that motorcade scene better would have been if Martha had climbed over the divider in the limo, taken the gun from an incapacitated Pierce and shot the terrorists herself! That would have been cool! They key card thing with McHobbit is just plain stupid. It would take all of 2 seconds to deactivate the card and a "by the books" guy like him would have done that as soon as he realized it was missing. Oh, and the prayer thing! And Novick's obvious disgust for his president. Priceless. You've got to love how Jack and the "rogue CTU crew" keep managing to cover up far all the president's and Novick's bad decisions so he still looks like a good guy instead of the sleazy incompetent moron that he is. Only batty Martha sees the truth!
  24. None of that surprises me in the least. You would probably be doing her a favor if you refused to cooperate. Sub prime lending has its purpose in the market, but it also has a real tendency to be predatory. I have seen a LOT over the years. As far as your percentage- I don't know, but I think its more of an estate thing. The home is all that's left of his estate, so my assumption is your share is 16% less the debt. BUT, I could be totally wrong about that! If she insists on going through with this loan, she can borrow enough to buy out you and your siblings as well. And next time she gets herself into trouble- like 2 years from now when her rate goes up and she can't afford the payments- she'll be on her own.
  25. That does vary from state to state, and it gets complicated. (all the more reason for good legal counsel and planning for that what if......) In Illinois, if there are children invlolved, the surviving spouse is only entitled to 50% of the estate and the remaining 50% is divided among the children or their descendents. I don't know where the original poster is from, but the situation described sounds like the father left no will and owned the real estate as a tenant in common- not exactly a bequest, but an inheritance all the same. Bottom line- if you die without a will the state gets to decide for you. But that is a whole different discussion. Originally, I was just trying to explain how that 16% interest might have come up and why the original poster just found out about it now, years after the fact. Anyway, because of my family's situation, it struck a chord. No, I doubt it would happen to me, but it could.
