  1. Shari- I can't take credit for Ell-EEEE-utttttt but I guarantee that from now on, that's exactly what I'll be thinking too! And about Kellie- I can't decided which is worse-if she really is that dumb or if she's faking. I think its kind of sad either way. The naive innocence worked for Lorretta Lynn, but a) it was real and b) it was a different era. This girl aint no Loretta Lynn! When she stays within her comfort zone, she does have a good voice, but its a pretty small zone! I predict we'll see her on a sitcom within 2 years. So- that's Ace on a soap opera, Kellie on a sitcom, and Paris doing a remake of Different Strokes. Oh, and Ell-EEEE-uttt doing an ET-where are they now special!
  2. They did that a few times last year. I think the whole elimination show is stupid. I did catch part of this one, but usually if I bother at all anymore, its just to click on at the end to see who is going home. The group numbers suck and the "commercials" are awful. I wouldn't have minded seeing Rod Stewart perform, but I missed that.
  3. I seriously doubt Kellie will win and I don't think she's being pimped anywhere near as blatantly as Carrie Underwood was last year. (Katharine is coming close..........) But I also don't think the votes really matter and that the producers manipulate the results as they see fit. Plus, the bottom 3 is all about creating drama to keep people tuning in and voting. So who knows if Chris really did have the second lowest number of votes? Still, the weekly themes seem to be working against him, and next week should be interesting.
  4. Definitely a lot of boobage there!
  5. Simon- Jesus juice! Yes, that must be it! I don't even remember what Taylor sang! I guess I'm kind of bored with him already. Sorry. And I'm not saying Chris was bad, but it was dull and just so not him. I'm not sure what more he could have done with that genre, but I was bored by his performance and to me, it seemed like he just "phoned it in." I was much more impressed with his country performance. Yamin- I'm with you! Yawn! Maybe if he was hot, Mr. Easy Listening would do something for me, but he's homely, arrogant AND lite fm! Bad combo- I don't think he last much longer. Sadly, Paris will make the final 4 and she just annoys the crap out of me. Yeah yeah- she can sing. So what? I don't really buy any of her performances because to me, no matter how good she is technically (and I thought she was off last night) she still comes across as a kid pretending to be a woman. And you know what's kind of sad about Kellie? She's stuck in a position now of trying to defend the fact that she really is dumb! That has to suck! But every trailer park in America is voting for her, so yeah, unless tornados struck last night, she'll probably survive her awful performance this week. And to be fair, I don't think she should leave this week because of one bad performance anyway. BTW- did Paula actually tell to take up acting? Did I hear that? Isn't that the AI version of the bowling speech? Katharine- she's beautiful and she can sing but I still like her! In terms of both talent and vocal training, she and Elliot really are in a different league. And she's got charisma on top of it. If I had to pick now, I'd say she's our next American Idol, and I would be just fine with that. I'd probably even buy her CD. I like Chris a lot, but I think AI would spoil what's so special about him if he won, sort of like what they did to Bo Bice. My ideal next 3 to leave would be Ace, Paris and Elliot. Ace first simply because vocally, he's the weakest link. That would leave Taylor, Kellie, Chris and Katharine in the final 4 and I think in terms of both talent AND audience appeal, that's right.

About Aaron-all they showed was his phone, no body and no signs of a struggle, really. Its possible he is alive, but with the body count so far this season, its kind of hard to hold out any hope. This hasn't been a good year for long term cast members. Regarding Walt- on the secret tape with Robocop and the Pres, it clearly indicates Walt had no idea the president was in on it all along. So they did cover that. The idea is he's in the background pulling all the strings while keeping his hands clean and appearing "innocent". (I know, I know, it could never REALLY happen that way!) I guess Heller is going to get a chance to redeem himself after betraying Jack- how many hours left?
  7. Well, you know I am not a Kellie fan and I really hate the ditzy southern blonde routine, but she did win me over a little bit when she straight up admitted she butchered her song. That HAS to be an AI first. Usually they stick their noses in the air after an especially bad performance and harsh criticism and say something like "I think I rocked! Let America decide!" Paris- ugh! I thought she was awful. Ace- not bad, but the slicked back hair called attention to his HUGE nose! Elliot- big yawn. He really should have hit one out of the park- totally his element, but to me, it just wasn't great. Katharine- I love her voice, I love her style and I was expecting great things. Truth is, she hit a few rough notes and the arrangement was too chopped up or something. She was good, but I'm not sure she was as good as the praise she got. Still, she was the best of the night. I was bored by Chris's performance. Not a bad note or anything, but it just wasn't him. The real shock of the night was Simon who was positively nice and positive to everyone, even Kellie after her buchering job.
  8. Actually, I have a suggestion for dealing with your neighbor and her cat's shit in your yard. Shovel it up and deposit it back in her yard or on her front steps. She'll get the message eventually.
  9. Since I admit to watching American Idol, I really can't criticize someone else's taste in television.
  10. I'm not sure I ever really thought it was cool, but back when it first came out, it really was about music.
  11. Possible translation- the trash the kids leave behind attracts the mice and moles which her cat happily rids the neighborhood of.

The worst part is- we all agreed that the episode sucked but we'll STILL be tuning in next week. (If only to see Logan peel his face off and reveal himself as the giant cockroach he is!)
  13. My SO had it on in the other room and he was laughing his ass off. Me- I don't get it!
  14. They really are two separate issues. One of the many reasons I don't let my cats freely roam the neighborhood is because there are too many sickos out there. I agree that allowing your cats to freely roam the neighborhood is irresponsible but to say its INVITING such activities is taking it too far.
  15. My sister and brother in law were very much into the "hippy dippy new age" stuff including home birthing, etc. They wanted to plant the placenta from one of my nieces under a tree, but knew the home they were in wasn't permanent so they stored it in their freezer until they moved. Imagine my surprise when they asked me to get some meat for dinner! It was years before I would open their freezer again!

    Dumb question...

Actually, what's really funny is that usually when USA shows one of their own films, they promote the crap out of it and show it again several times after its initial airing. (Late night, weekend afternoons, that kind of thing.......) I think they only aired Cutaway once with very little promotion. It was bad by cable movie standards! That's really really bad!
  17. Again- you are talking about feral cats which in those numbers especially can pose a health risk. AND, they are being humanely trapped and euthanized NOT being used for target practice. Sad yes, but if you can't see the obvious difference, that's your issue.

    Dumb question...

It originally aired on USA if I am not mistaken. But I don't know whether they specifcally made it for cable TV or just saw how bad it was once it was finished and decided not to release it to the theatres.
  19. Wow- someone else putting words in my mouth just for the sake of an argument. Great job! This thread wasn't started as a discussion about how to deal with destructive rodents or even aggressive dogs for that matter. It was started by someone who seems to believe that cruelly killing small animals is an a) understandable act if the animal bothers you in any way and b) appropriate punishment for irresponsible pet owners. That is a position that I cannot and will not support. And yes, I do see an obvious difference between dealing with a rodent problem and using the neighbors cats for target practice.

    Me three.......................
  21. Well, you know, I didn't want to get into the whole hunting, meating eating leather wearing argument which is why I drew the line at companion animals, specifically pets. I eat meat, I wear leather shoes and I know perfectly normal people who like to hunt and fish. But it seems pretty clear to me that there is something really sick about shooting arrows with the intent of killing your neighbor's cat. Unfortunately, there are a lot of really sick and cruel people out there.
  22. I simply pointed out that it makes absolute sense to keep your kid's sand box covered when he isn't using it; I didn't say anything at all about keeping your entire yard under lock and key. If you want to start a thread about responsible pet ownership, that's one thing, but trying to justify cruelly killing pets as a punishment to their irresponsible owners is something else entirely. People who kill companion animals for pleasure or revenge are not good people, plain and simple. (See- I'm trying not to use that "sociopath" word since it bothers you so much!)
  23. Actually, I'd argue that wasn't the point of the thread. The two cases he brought up did not mention that the animals were either a threat OR a nuisance, and their killings were completely unjustified criminal acts. (I would say the acts of disturbed individuals or sociopaths.) I've got my own feelings about responsible pet ownership, and I do feel that I am an extremely responsible cat owner. But a defenseless PET posing NO THREAT does not deserve to be injured or killed for the sole purpose of punishing its owner. He's trying to argue that it does, and that's BS!
  24. He was specifically complaining about his kid's sandbox.
