I'm not even part of the "in" group and I think the guy's a troll. He manages to push so many buttons one way or another that people can't take anymore and it escalates from there which is really all part of what he wanted. It IS deliberate. He's getting a big laugh over this right now while he's working on yet another user name which will also get banned. Its all a big joke to him and threads like this just feed into it. And I just did too by posting yet again, but your "in crowd" comments just got to me!

I should probably stay out of this, but near as I can tell, there is a pattern here. He trolls, he baits, he insults and finally gets what he wants- a lot of poeple pissed off at him. Then he whines that the bonfire is cliquish and no one understands his sense of humor and he's being punished for not "conforming"! Then someone steps up and defends him. Didn't all this just happen a few weeks ago too? Whatever! For the most part, I ignore his threads and I don't understand why other people don't follow suit. Its not worth getting upset about because as far as I can see, that's exactly what he wants.

I called my youngest cat Little Dude until he wasn't so little anymore! At 4 months, he was bigger than my full grown cats! He's tipping the scales at 17 pounds these days- can't call him that anymore!

I never thought I would see the day when you were the calm voice of logic and reason in a thread and I would agree with you pretty much 100%. Go figure..........

Does anyone here actually give anything at Xmas outside of gifts?
tigra replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
I don't think gifts are pointless as long as they come from the heart. I enjoy shopping and buying gifts that my family and friends will enjoy, and I enjoy receiving gifts, especially things I would not buy for myself. That's all part of the magic of Christmas. But gifts just for the sake of not showing up empty handed- those are pointless. -
I find it kind of amusing how these networks seem to be blatantly cloning shows from each other. I realize there aren't too many original ideas left for television but in this past year it just seems so much more prevalent than before.

Well, since you put it out there, I watched the finale of Biggest Loser last night. I was stunned at the results. When I saw an episode last season, I was appalled at the idea of people who have had self esteem and acceptance issues their entire lives having to compete with each other and vote people off all for our amusement as TV viewers. But I kind of changed my mind about the show last night- those people worked hard and got results. That has to be inspiring to others who are struggling with obesity. There, I said it! I feel cleansed now!

And doesn't CBS have their own version of a scary alien show as well?

wings container for a 170, now with a 190...any problem?
tigra replied to artistcalledian's topic in Safety and Training
I've got a W-8 with a 150 in it, but that's a Spectre (7 cell). No way I'd try it with a Sabre 150. -
There is probably a recap on NBC.com. Just a thought- seems like all the networks are doing that now.

OK, here's the thing- "died doing something he loved" or "died living his life to the fullest" is sometimes valid but more often than not, its an empty cliche used when someone died senselessly and left the world much too soon. (And there have been so many stupid senseless fatalities in this sport- good people who made bad choices!) I *think* that's what Chris and Wally are trying to say. And yes, your perspective does change when you've been around the sport for a while. As to the original question about "morals"- I don't think a person is any more or less moral if they continue jumping immediately after a serious incident. We all cope differently.

They usually have one of Skydive Chicago's otters if I am not mistaken.

If I start digging too deep into everything that's missing from the movie, I'll change my opinion!

Totally agree- I also think she should have been way sexier. All the boys were supposed to go gaga over her, not just Ron. She is part veela and all!
-
I agree. Those of us who love the books and have read them more than once fill in the blanks without even thinking about it. And I also agree about the other champions, Fleur especially. Another missed opportunity- she really should have been much more of a siren.
-
Very well said! All of it.......

One of my coworkers has not read the books and she felt the same way about the film.

I went to a 10:30 showing to avoid the little kids, but we still got stuck next to two of them. They fell asleep about halfway through the movie- I have no idea what their parents were thinking!

Well, duh! But I seriously wouldn't have thought blue and white lights would be so pretty until I was forced to try them! I agree about the outside lights though- all blue and flashing? I might think there was a police raid or something! Outside lights should either be multi colored or plain white!

Good to know!

Maybe they should sign Quentin Tarantino for the remaining films! That could be interesting!

I heard someone say this was the last of the Harry Potter movies- does anyone know if this is true? I just assumed they would make all 7 books into movies, even though each one gets more difficult.

Yeah, I definitely missed Sirius in this movie- only one scene with his head in a fire? And at the end of the book, when Dumbledore is essentially gathering his troups and realizes the ministry won't work with him- that's so crucial to the next installment. I think they definitely missed some opportunities, but all in all, they did a good job. The next one's going to be even harder to translate to the big screen!

All in all, I think they did a pretty good job with the movie knowing they had to cut a lot out and still present a lot of information. The movie stands on its own as well as being a part of a bigger story. I'm with you on Voldemort's eyes- the eyes are the window to a person's soul. Voldemort has lost so much of his humanity, that even though he's regained human form, he doesn't look quite human. I think altering the eyes would have been a much better way to convey that than what they did with his nose. Extras? I could have done without the study hall scene and Snape disciplining Ron and Harry. It was out of character for Snape AND I felt like Snape's role in this movie was reduced to him lurking and sneering in corners. I think that's a waste of an excellent actor and character. Plus, in terms of the bigger picture, I think that was the wrong part of the story to cut because Harry's relationship with Snape is such a huge factor. But, that being said, I thought the director did a very good job of conveying other relationships and plot twists in very subtle ways, alluding and hinting at things without full exposition. The scene where Barty Sr. recognizes his son is a good example of that- effective even though it was the Cliffs Notes version....

I don't really decorate much outside, but my tree is all blue and white lights. It was an accident the first time- I was buying lights for my first Christmas in my own apartment, K mart had a big sale but by the time I got there, blue and white were all they had left. I got half blue because I thought all white would be boring. The combination with all my ornaments was surprisingly pretty, so I never went back! I have a ton of ornaments ranging from delicate blown glass to the hand made stuff from when I was a kid and the talking Star Trek ornaments!
