Its a HotPocket- Karma is already paying him back!

I decided if I re-read the book, the movie would probably be a letdown. (I know they've got to cut a lot out.....) So I'll see the movie either this weekend or next and then re-read the book! I think I'll enjoy both more that way!

I actually agree about that- the beeps and unauthorized items. Grrrr. Or if you've got something that's an odd size- too light to register that you've put it in the bag or too big to go in the bag. Bottom line- more often than not, they annoy and frustrate me, so if they failed to register something I had scanned and there was a long line at customer service, I'm not sure I would have waited to pay for a $2.00 item!

Well, I probably got some cashier out of a ton of trouble, but I doubt they'll send me anything and that's OK! The store was out of state, but its a chain with a "preferred customer club" and I figure whoever REALLY bought the clothing was right before or after me on their computer, maybe even has the same name. Just a dumb clerical error, and I wouldn't want someone getting in trouble over it!

I just had an entire box of clothing sent to me from a store I shop at. But the actual store the clothing came from was in another state and I didn't order or pay for the clothes. Since the package was left at my door without my signing for it, I guess I could have considered it a freebee. The clothes were really nice, and even in my size, but I couldn't do it. I called the store, put everything back in the box and they sent fedex to pick it up. Guess that makes me weird too! But, depending on the circumstances, I might have walked away with a $2.00 box of hot pockets! Those self check out machines irritate me to no end, and I will only use them when the store is crowded and understaffed. They really needs to work the kinks out of them before they start replacing all the humans!

Tim from Skydive Chicago but he's not there anymore. I think he returned to Florida to open a real restaurant.

Me too! I said I *think* you are *mistaken* and even conceded that the idea might have come from one of those stories.

I think you are mistaken about the Green Mile, BUT for all I know it may have been inspired by one of his other stories. That was originally released in 6 mini installments you could buy in the magazine section of your grocery store. I guess it was a throwback to serial novels which used to be released in the 50s or something? Anyway, I bought and read Green Mile in the installments. At least he didn't make us wait a few years in between each one!

Which Carrie- the original with Sissy Spacek or the remake they did recently? I thought the original was pretty good.
-
Totally disagree- I thought Jack Nicholson was over the top from the very beginning. I never once saw him as a caring husband and father trying to make up for his past and do right by his family which was the whole premise for them being there! Not to worry though, I'm probably one of the few people on the planet who feels that way!

I'm going to disagree with The Shining. The book shows a man gradually losing his mind, struggling to hang on to his humanity and his sanity. You could see where he was essentially a good man with a troubled past at the beginning and the book was as much about his deterioration as the ghosts that haunted the hotel. Jack Nicholson played the part as a psycho from start to finish- he played an excellent scary psycho, but that's not what the book was about! I thought Kathy Bates made Misery- if not for her, the movie would have fallen short. It was a long time before I could see her in anything else and not think of Misery!

What? It didn't get to you even a little bit? Come on, you can admit it, you don't even need to turn in your guy card, I swear!

I don't think anything anyone said in this thread really gave the ending away. I will say parts throughout the last book made me cry, but not the ending.

I pretty much bring a bottle of wine anytime I'm invited for dinner or a party. If we up drinking it, great, because chances are I brought something I like.
-
I like CC's suggestion, but I'd go with different beers. Maybe 1 case of Sam and 1 case Heneken, plus I'd go with some other light beer besides Coors- Miller, maybe? And maybe go with a little more wine- 5 bottles is about half a bottle for each "wine drinking" guest which is fine for dinner, but a party? Your guests might want more than 2 glasses of wine. Don't do box wine or the gallon jugs either! You can get decent wine in the $7-$10 range, and I'm amazed at how many people are getting into their wine these days.
-
Maybe its a regional thing- I don't know anyone who likes Coors Light! I swear! I know people who like Budweiser (ew) or Bud Light and if I invite them over, I'll make sure I have some on hand even though I won't drink it. We have maybe one real party a year, so I make sure there's a variety of beer, wine and fixings for mixed drinks. If its a "come on over and watch the game" kind of thing, most people bring their own!

Note to self - BMOB if I go to LawRocket's house for a party! Coors Light??? From a keg? Are you freakin kidding me??? While I disagree, I can sort of see your point about a keg, sort of, but you totally lost me with the Coors Light! Maybe its an "age" thing, but I survived the college frat parties and I don't need to relive my youth that badly! Besides, if I'm having people over to my home, its because I LIKE them, so I'm going to serve them something I think they will like. (Its not like its something I do every weekend!) Does anyone really like Coors Light? "Is there any more Coors Light?" is not a question you will ever hear in my home! lol

Keg beer is a recipe for a hangover, plus many of my friends are beer snobs (myself included) so if it were me, I'd go with bottles. I'd get some domestic "swill" for my friends who are beer "anti-snobs", maybe some light beer too (also domestic, some people like that stuff- go figure!) then a few 12 packs of different imports. Heineken, Corona, Becks? Or you can go more interesting and try a few ales or even some microbrews. Any "leftovers" will keep and if you don't want or need beer in your house, you can load it all into a cooler and take it to the dz.

Death threats are a little extreme- trashing the display in protest- well, I kind of like that idea! (I mean, if the bird was already cowering in a corner, was shooting it necessary? How about catching it with a net or a blanket and taking it outside?) There I go again- rooting for the underdog, or underBIRD in this case!

Kind of like a chicken/egg question, huh? When did the man in black become Flagg? hmmmmmmmm

The Stephen King Library is like the Book of the Month Club. They send special edition hardcovers of his books, new ones as they come out plus the classics. (They must have a way of keeping track of what they've already sent you.) If you don't want them, you send them back, otherwise you pay for them- I think with shipping they are around $18.00 each? You are probably better off with your first editions- especially the early ones. These days, when the first realease is over a million copies, it just doesn't mean as much!

The fibula is the smaller bone on the outside.

I loved Misery, hated Gerald's Game. And I do realize they were fundamentally the same- both "heroes" trapped in bed, dealing with their inner demons and having to find a way to save themselves. Misery worked for me, Gerald's Game didn't. I guess I should pick up a copy of Rose Madder and decide for myself about that one! Loved Black House and The Talisman as well!

Yes, a grand torino. And, Jones, I also agree about Eyes of the Dragon and to some extent, your take on the Dark Tower series, but I loved the last book, savored it really, up until the very end when he reached the tower.
