Well, it would be illegal for an HOA (or ANY seller) to turn away a purchaser because he or she didn't speak English. Now- as to how many people can actually LIVE in the property or if it can be rented out? Yes, a HOA can dictate that. But so can most local municipal governments. I know mine can. And it doesn't take an HOA to legally seize the property if illegal drugs are being manufactured or sold there. Our federal government has that right. Aside from the pink house, I don't think an HOA would solve any of your neighborhood problems.

Honestly, I think it just depends on the association-if you pay dues, what do they cover and how are the by-laws written? If you find a place you love and there's an association, just do the research and decide if its something you can live with. Some just provide for maintaining certain common areas and others dictate the type of plants you can have in your yard.

The previews I've seen for the show do make it seem like its a "real" documentary type show with "real" soldiers and "real" footage. Kind of misleading. (I didn't actually watch the show either. Sounds like I didn't miss much!)

Great job! Slam a company with a great rep for customer service over the internet BEFORE you a) contact them directly and b) get the full story. Personally, I think your apology ought to be at least as prominent as your original post.

I wasn't aware that all followers of the Muslim faith were terrorists.

I'm still very close to downtown. I kind of miss my old neighborhood, but I couldn't afford to buy there, and for what I was paying in rent it was just plain stupid not to buy a place!

I liked living on the northside (almost northwest) but I like my little house in a near western burb. Not quite as "white picket fence" as you describe, but my house does look like most of the other bungalows on the block!
-
OK then, move to the suburbs!

I agree with you, but if I'm not mistaken, there was a pretty serious accident in Texas.

I'm sorry. I guess I object to the idea that the whuffo who called 911 was "nosy" or did something wrong by calling. We had a fatality at my DZ a couple of years ago. No one knew she was missing right away because she told her friends she'd be taking off as soon as she landed. Plus it was a weekday and the DZ was pretty quiet. (No one standing around outside watching landings, etc.) I only wish some "nosy" whuffo had seen something odd and called 911. Probably it wouldn't have changed the outcome, but she wouldn't have been alone (dead or alive) for as long as she was. It still breaks my heart to think about it.

No one handled the situation incorrectly including the whuffo who called the police. BUT, now that you realize that can happen, why not make it a practice around your club to make a simple "I'm OK" call when you land by yourself away from the dz? I mean, if you had unintentionally landed out due to a bad spot or high winds, you wouldn't just stop at a buddy's house, have a beer and go home would you? Why not treat a planned solo demo the same way?
-
OK, he filed a NOTAM. But the DZ didn't know where he was, had no way to reach him and apparently neither did his wife.
-
Honestly, would you prefer the alternative? What if something did happen and you were lying hurt (or worse) in a field somewhere but no one was looking? Maybe next time you could make a simple "I'm fine!" call to the dz after you landed safely. (Maybe they should have asked you to do that or maybe they should have had your buddy's number just in case.) Then the police could have been out fighting crime instead of looking for you for two hours. I'm not saying it was your fault, but think about it. Whuffo sees something scary, calls police, they look for you, check with the DZ and they ALSO do not know where you are but your truck is in the parking lot unclaimed. Don't blame the whuffo and is it so wrong if future demos are more closely monitored?

I explained my position very clearly. Bill put it terms that a 5 year old could understand. I see you got it then.

It takes a big man to mock and insult a stranger over the internet! Bravo!

Thank You Bill Von!

I think is *possible* but bearing in mind that he drank a whole bowl full of poison BEFORE the deadly curse and it was Hagrid who moved his body (he can't keep a secret and was bawling his eyes out) I think its unlikely. More likely, he'll be providing help from beyond the grave, as Rebecca said.

You really don't get it, and you're not even reading my complete post- just cutting and pasting what suits your purpose. In actual fact, I said pretty much exactly what you said. If the police had every reason to believe the guy had a bomb, their actions were justified. When you toss in the word "might" things get a little muddy. That's what you apparently are NOT getting. Regardless, I'm done with this.
-
I do get it. I'm not denouncing their actions or Monday morning quarterbacking. BUT, an explanation is owed and there should be an inquiry. There's a huge difference between beyond reasonable doubt the guy *might* have had a bomb (what he said) and beyond reasonable doubt the guy DID have a bomb. (hopefully what the police in London had) That's what YOU aren't getting. Its not the "beyond reasonable doubt" part that's scary, its the word "might". Using that logic, any person of mid eastern descent carrying a back pack or wearing a jacket in the summer walking near a subway station can be shot. I hope AND believe the police in London had a bit more than that. Need I go on????
-
beyond reasonable doubt that the guy *might* have a bomb? That's scary. beyond reasonable doubt the guy DID have a bomb is a different story. 5 bullets, point blank range while the guy was on the ground and subdued? I think the police have some 'splaining to do. I'm NOT saying they were wrong, I'm saying they need to explain their actions.

I totally understand want to get rid of the "unibrow" look, whether you are a man or a woman. Or the extra hairs over and under the brow line. (or like my SO, the one long wiry grey one that just looks out of place! That one gets plucked once a month or so!) I just think some people take it too far.
-
I'm blonde and my eyebrows are practically invisible. I pencil them in and shape them a little with a brush, that's about all. I really can't stand that super thin over plucked look some women go for. If you are going to pluck and shape, at least make it LOOK natural! (And I always thought Brooke Shield's full eyebrows were very sexy!!)

What would you do if you had a cat that peed in places she shouldn't
tigra replied to fireflytx's topic in The Bonfire
She might be happier in a one cat household. Do you know any older smokers who could use a feline companion? (You know, someone not terribly sensitive to bad smells?) She's sweet and good tempered aside from her little peeing problem, right? And a new environment just might make the difference anyway. Good luck! Just by making this post I can see that you really do care for your cat and this is tearing you up. -

Hey, I'm sorry you are getting flamed here, but you are also getting some very good advice! I honestly think your heart is in the right place, but I also think you've got some better options to think about besides putting her down. Try to focus on the good advice posted here, OK!
