There's a reason you haven't seen an ASTRA. They are (were) worn in the front of the rig near the shoulder strap if I'm not mistaken, and yes, I *think* they were easily enough switched on and off that its *possible* (not likely) one could be switched off accidently. I've only known a handful of people who jumped them, all but one regretted the decision to buy it, and I haven't seen one on a rig in years.

Oddly enough, you have to pay extra to do their advertising!

One Sunday morning while driving to the dz, I found myself behind a car with a bumper sticker that said "Worship at the Church of your choice" and I realized that was what I was on my way to do.
-
With all the dust flying around SDC, I'm surprised more cars aren't hit. They're all blank canvases just waiting for stuff like that!
-
Its very rare you see someone pied for their 100th at my dz. Gotta have 3 zeroes at the end to be pie worthy! I still like the cupcake idea!

I signed an ex up for all kinds of religious junk mail (back in the days before email), plus sent anything of that nature that I received to him anonymously. (even flyers on the street) I'm not sure why I did it, but anything I got or any mailing lists I could add him to, I did. Billy Graham, a correspondence course in Catholicism, you name it! We were in college and had a few classes together. I enjoyed the puzzled look on his face when he checked his mail! He had no idea where the stuff was coming from or why!

ha ha! When I ordered my last jumpsuit, I told the person who would be making it to let me know up front if she thought it would be hideous! (of course, she's also a good friend and she took the order, measured me and helped design it!)
-
I second the suggestion to try a Pilot. Its a nice 9 cell with a flatter glide and reliable, soft on heading openings.
-
excellent! from now on, cupcakes for the hundreth jump!
-
ditto! If there were a clear and well documented safety concern, I *might* feel differently.
-
I was talked out of the jacket plan and as far as I know, the canopy is still in service somewhere.
-
I don't disagree, but this guy took a swim for some reason and I'm guessing lack of experience was a factor. Beach landings can be tricky!
-
I was thinking more of the experience factor and good judgement, but whatever...............
-
I watched someone swoop our hangar in a Spectre, so I know you can surf them!
-
But MY canopy really is the best! Seriously, as Lisa said, don't commit to a permanent swap. Make a couple of jumps on his canopy, let him jump yours. Then when he wants to keep yours, wrestle it back from him and be a good friend by helping him find one of his own! And do be very careful packing it. They've been known to bite even when you do everything right, and they aren't real forgiving of sloppy packing!

My Sabre did have a flatter glide, I guess. That's about all. Plus he's talking about the original Sabre, one that probably has quite a few jumps on it, and sorry but they are well known for their lousy openings. There's a reason they were redesigned; about the only characteristic the new sabre shares with the original is its name. (I was ready to make a jacket out of mine when I retired it after 500 jumps!)
-
I went from a Sabre1 to a Spectre and I would never go back! Hope he's a good friend.

Wow- beach landings at 70 jumps and no license. Not sure what to say about that.......... How old is the cypres? The new version runs about $1200 US and has some kind of water protection included if I'm not mistaken. (Maybe not enough to cover a swim in the ocean.) If you've got the older model, in the long run, replacing it may be a better option. (please look at the link above your post that Sundevil so graciously posted.....

Hope is often all that keeps us going and fighting. Don't underestimate its power. How many people have we known personally or read about even just on this site who have defied all odds and made far greater recoveries than the medical community told us was possible? The reality is, you can't measure his progress in terms of days. More like weeks, months and years. There is no telling what progress the medical community can make in that time. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his loved ones. maura

What's the funniest game or activity that you have seen at a party?
tigra replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
A friend of mine has a Jenga game and she wrote stuff to do on all the blocks. "Kiss the person to your right" "Fake an orgasm" (like the scene from When Harry met Sally) "Bring drinks to everyone at the table", that kind of thing. You have to do whatever is written on the block you pull. Jenga, when played like that, can get really funny. Now they might actually sell Jenga games like that, but I think the made up stuff is better anyway, and she was doing it first! -
Pretty much, unfortunately. And he knows if he keeps his mouth shut and her body doesn't wash up on shore, the authorities will have to release him eventually. His dad coached him well. Hate to do the whole guilty until proven innocent bit, but that's honestly how I feel.

Weeelllll, you *may* find its easier to go to a new DZ as a licensed skydiver. If you are almost finished with AFP (and your license) it does make a certain amount of sense to finish up. But I'd hate to promote irresponsibility like that!
-
Ok, so seriously. If you have enough money to pay off your credit cards, do that. If you pay them (or it) off, that's less bills you need to pay every month, which is more money for jumps, right?
-
That pretty much sums it up!

Well, gee, thanks for explaining that you really didn't think the nuclear bomb was something worthy of commemorating with a barbecue, but he was simply commenting on a post which you actually did make. If you are so worried about your comments being misinterpreted, maybe you should think about that before you post instead if insulting his command of the English language. (I know he's not the only one who found your barbecue comment to be in poor taste!)
