  1. Wow- you are cruising through the program! Graduation could be this coming weekend, huh? Don't forget the beer!
  2. Under the circumstances, your landlord would be stupid to give you a hard time or try to enforce the lease. Especially since you could make it extremely difficult for him to release the apartment OR you could give him notice and allow him to show it while you are still there. A few years back, I was in a similar situation- had my car vandalized and my apartment broken into within a month. (Also had my bag snatched while walking to the train- I was a walking crime wave!) I did feel like I was targeted. My landlord was good about adding extra security (AFTER the burglary) - a new deadbolt and bars on the window- but I never felt safe there after that. We also had street parking, and the spaces near the building filled up quick. It got to the point where I was afraid to go out at night because I wouldn't have a "safe" place to park when I got home! But, I was also afraid to break my lease so I stayed. That was stupid! I lived in fear for a good 6 months! And the fact is, he wouldn't have taken a young woman like me to court to enforce his lease! Not when the reason I was moving was because I was afraid for my safety! I wouldn't have lost more than my security deposit! Learn from my mistake and get out of there as soon as you can! (Of, and get renters insurance just in case!)
  3. That would be the fibula- only holds a small percantage of your weight. But they can also be really stubborn to heal.
  4. Bruising and severe swelling is probably worth an xray. Maybe you just have a really high tolerance for pain?? Its possible even if its broken, there isn't much they can do. (Like when you break a toe?) But its also possible that you are causing more damage by walking on it.

    Contractor hell

Wendy, As frustrating as it is for you now, things will probably work out OK. I don't think the problems you are experiencing now are all that unusual. Seems like a lot of contractors over book themselves over the summer months. The fact that he's a lousy businessman (not returning call or juggling his work load well) doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad contractor or carpenter. Hang in there and keep pestering him. And hey, why not suggest he refund what is left of your advance and deliver the materials he's already purchased. (with receipts!) That's sure to get his attention anyway! maura

    Contractor hell

Its not that simple. If you don't pay your contractor, regardless of the reason, in most states he can lien your property. Good luck selling, refinancing or taking out a second if that happens. To get rid of it, chances are you'll have to hire an attorney and go to court. Its a PITA and will most likely cost YOU time and money even when the contractor was at fault to begin with. Wendy- stay on them! The last few times I've had worked done at my house, we used a friend and even that was a pain in the a**. I was thinking how much better I'd feel if we'd hired a licensed rated contractor- now I don't feel so bad!
  7. I know someone who takes his out right before exit and puts it in his pocket. Hey, I keep my sunglasses in my jumpsuit and put them on right after I land. I guess he does the same thing with his teeth!
  8. What's old information to you is new to someone else. Also, is there really another place to discus incidents and training issues? How many dzs do that regularly anymore? Yes, some discussions become a little heated. The preventable incidents so familiar to previous ones can be disheartening. But, no I personally don't think the site has outlived its usefulness.
  9. Its not my issue, its yours. You already believe there's a "conspiracy of silence" out there and your poll is slanted to support that theory. I don't need a poll. I think we do a pretty good job on this site reporting and discussing serious accidents.
  10. Your poll is ridiculous! None of the options apply to most of us, not even close.
  11. It was from the last season. Similar rant (Carrie) AND someone walked off with her ridiculously expensive shoes after the person having the shower made her leave them by the door. They're showing the cleaned up reruns on regular TV now- just watch for it!
  12. OK- THAT reminds me of a Sex and the City episode. I watch way too much tv! lol
  13. Good for you! That sounds like an outrageous request under the circumstances! (Kind of reminds me of that Friends episode where Ross just moved into a building and they wanted him to pitch in $100.00 for the janitor's retirement party!)
  14. While you may have a valid point, the fact that not every single broken bone or close call is reported on this almighty site does not indicate a "conspiracy of silence" as the original poster indicated.
  15. I remember when I was in high school and our collie got out. She ended up at a college campus several miles away. We were new to the area and we think she was looking for the right sized "kids". I hope your baby is home soon!
  16. My landings have gotten a lot better after 2 Scott Miller basic canopy control classes but they aren't all stand-ups. One thing I have learned after not one but 2 broken ankles is never to force a stand up landing. The ground at my dz was hard and dry on Saturday and the landings were FAST. I slid them in, nice and soft and SAFE. Concentrate of flaring evenly, finshing your flare and flaring at the right time. The rest will come.
  17. Undecided. I pretty much spent all my jumping money last weekend. (With Billy since you and Jeth weren't around to keep him company in the sky!)
  18. When I left, he was not sure about his plans for the rest of the month. He'll definitely be back for Summerfest but was open to the possibility of sticking around for the rest of July as well. I hope he does!
  19. Your poll options aren't all that great. What you may consider an "incident" others do not. No conspiracy there! If every broken ankle or near miss were reported and discussed here, Sangiro would run out of bandwidth in a hurry.
  20. So they stole it then traded up for something better? What does that say about your car?
  21. Congrats! BTW- where were you last weekend? Billy Weber was there looking for newbies to organize! You missed out on some free coaching!
  22. We've only got two parents at the office selling girl scout cookies, and I consider them my only "source"!
  23. If I'm not mistaken, there are a couple of team funnel folks at SDC who make stickers.
  24. Its her sales assistant. If she wants any kind of work out of her (or him) she probably needs to pay up. Its inappopriate- blackmail really- but unless she can get more people to take a stand with her and not pay, she's the one who looks bad!
