Just to add to this- its a later AFP level and the main goal of the level is not to teach sit flying but recovery from unstable positions. The sitflying is just an added bonus. (Back when I did AFP, it was level 11 and they just had us exit in sort of a cannonball and try to do a 360 on our backs, no actual sitflying involved. Then a couple of backloops and some dockign practice. I've got fond memories of the jump because it was the only student jump I did with Roger and it was pretty much my "breakthrough" dive. Not that the dive went perfect because it didn't, but I realized the dive didn't NEED to be perfect and I was much more relaxed for my remaining student jumps!

Its nice, but I've seen soooo many rigs with that color scheme. I'd also consider black for the bottom of the rig instead of the blue. That area gets a lot of wear and tear.

Call me crazy, but my cat had the radio active iodine treatment for his hyperthyroidism. It was something of a miracle cure, and I was wondering if they did it for people too. I have a friend who takes medication for the opposite problem (Tashemotos?). She does OK, but will most likely be on that for the rest of her life!

Mine too! Also, she'll lick lotion with shea butter or vitamin e oil off my hands. I tried Nads (the hair removal stuff?) and she tried to eat that too!

More like a tongue in cheek political statement. When this was posted yesterday, all I really noticed was the doberman in the poodle costume, not the "logic" behind it! I'll have to tell my friends with the 2 rottweilers about this! And yes, I believe poodles can be pretty high strung and they aren't good with kids.

Actually, I think the purpose was to show you could disguise your dog that's been labeled "dangerous" as something more harmless, like a poodle. At first I thought it was just about making the dogs look silly, too.

Its one thing to say that about a skydiver who goes in. This guy hopped in the pond to cool off on a hot day and he drowned. To me that's senseless and tragic. No one's fault, but tragic just the same.

I wasn't out there this past weekend, but I made some calls after I saw your post. Its true. The following is what I was told: The young man apparently made a tandem out at SDC a couple of weeks ago and was back on Saturday for a canoe trip on the river. Afterwards, he must have gone swimming on his own and when his friends realized he hadn't come back, there was a brief search. A staff member found him, pulled him from the water and began CPR. He had a pulse when the ambulance took him away, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. It was a tragic accident. There are signs posted at the pond reminding people to swim at their own risk as there is never a life guard on duty.

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, the only "local jumpers" involved were the two on the plane. I realize you are trying to be vague, but its easy enough to connect the dots and that kind of rumor mongering really is not called for.

If you do it right and still get a decent flare, a butt slide isn't all that different from a PLF. Landing directly on your butt after flaring too high is going to hurt and you're much better off with a PLF.

I agree. He should be A qualified when he finishes AFP. But keg beer gives me a hangover. Stick to the bottles of nice imported beer.

I stayed home. No jump money, plus other stuff to do at home. I'm planning on the whole week of Summerfest, but I'm not sure yet for the rest of the month! I love my house, but being a homeowner has really cut into my jumping budget!
